  1. Illd be careful.. I recently brought one more expensive than that off of ebay claiming that it read ODBII, EOBD and JOBD. Facts were, I received a product that only read ODBII. And for the record, that didnt work on my 350z import so I had to send it back. Im assuming that mines JODB.
  2. Hello, Looking at the 2 main types of exhaust you can get (twin backbox or single) just like the Japspeed K1 and K2. I cant decide. I like the idea of the K2 because I have had alignment problems in the past with my S2000 and twin back boxes, where the exhausts didnt sit level with each other and it just looked stupid. But the twin backbox looks alot less restrictive and looks like it would be more free-flowing. Am I correct on this or am I talking ?
  3. You still got the japspeed exhaust now? Are you pleased with it?
  4. http://www.japspeed.co.uk/Nissan-350Z/Performance-Parts/c-1-19-1 They look pretty good? Anyone had any experience? They quote quite high performance gains from their products.. seems a tad optimistic to me?
  5. Thanks Alex, you've been a big help.
  6. Hello, Have P0037 CEL light on my dash. It says Bank1 Sensor2 but im not too sure which side exhaust this is? Does anyone have a diagram of bank 1 and 2 and sensor 1 and 2? Or at least a description of which sensor this is referring to. Would be very grateful. Cheers. Dan.
  7. Just an update on this, I purchased the code reader and it didnt work. The guy on ebay was false advertising the product as it didnt read EODB or JODB. Waste of time... Ended up performing the accelerator pedal dance jobby thing (ended up having to use a stop watch to get the timing so accurate). and got the code that way. Was confusing tho... all I got was 10 flashes, then 3 flashes, then 7 flashes... but the code wasnt P1037, it was P0037??? Oh well.
  8. Seriously! When I read the procedure it just says "The engine check light should flash" Didnt say anything about flashing the code(s) to you. Thats cool, but at the same time ive just wasted my money!
  9. Actually after some reason, all 2000> onwards jap imports need a JOBD reader like this one: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Car-code-diagnostic-tool-scanner-reader-OBD2-II-T40_W0QQitemZ310159290872QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment?hash=item4836ef31f8&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14#ht_1197wt_681 Can anyone verify this is correct before I order it please?
  10. Long story short, cant be assed with Nissan charging me £100 for the 3 seconds it takes to read my engine management light everytime it comes on. I have a '03 Jap import, can I use a ODBII reader like the one here: to read my car? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OBD-2-II-EOBD-OBD2-Fault-Code-Reader-CAN-Scanner-U380_W0QQitemZ300301790833QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment?hash=item45eb61ae71&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14#ht_3162wt_907
  11. Pictures of my current dash for R35LEE
  12. Got crayons... Got motivation... Im ready to tackle cheap plastics...
  13. Wow thanks, thats a good visual representation of how mine will look. Thats what I was scared of, the centre console being dark black and the rest being light black, but to be honest, it doesnt look that bad. Other option is silver, but I dont know if it will look "chavvy".
  14. Cheers for the reply steve, just out of curiosity, how much was the quote from Nissan? 3 figures I bet?
  15. Driving me nuts and ive only owned the car for a week. Been looking for entire centre console dash replacements but cannot find anything other than cheap and tatty dash kits (stick on ones). Im thinking that im going to have to re-paint my dash to resolve the problem, but finding the same colour as the 350z interior is going to be hard as its sort of a light black. I figured going to nissan and paying stupid money for a replacement dash would be a stupid idea because it would just scratch again as they the build quality is...well....4 letter word. Im planning on: Primer: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_161443_langId_-1_categoryId_165495 Paint: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_163202_langId_-1_categoryId_165495 Not too sure if I am clear coating it yet or not.... Think this would be generally the same colour or not?
  16. Cheers mate, ill give that a go tonight, (weather permitting).
  17. I didnt earth it in my old car so assumed I didnt need to do it with this one. The CD player wiring loom doesnt come with an earth lead, I assumed it was handled by the cars wiring loom. Might be the problem though.
  18. CD player appears to be working fine, but everytime I plug the ariel into the back of the CD player stuff in my car starts not to work.
  19. Was changing the standard CD player for my own one this weekend, shortly after I noticed that my indicator stalk wasn't working, and neither was my window wiper stalk. Confused as hell, I decided to investigate, found that the ariel I had forgot to plug in had earthed itself to a metal box infront of the gearstick behind the dash. Wrapped a bit of electrical tape around it and all of a sudden its fixed. Woohooo I thought ....short lived that was. So after I plugged the loose ariel connection into the cd player where it was supposed to go thinking everything was ok now but the same problem happened.... Took the ariel connection back out and wrapped it in electrical tape as before and the problem fixed itself again.... Im confused, what have I done? It cant be shorting itself in the cd player where its supposed to go!?
  20. Hello, I have purchased an import 350z and there are a few interior dash parts that need replacing. I need: 1. The entire centre console except the top 3 gauges. 2. The gear stick surround http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/nissan-350z-design-12.jpg 3. Drivers side door handle (not the bit that opens the door, the bit you use to pull the door shut. Basically the carbon bit in this picture http://www.thezstore.com/store/graphics/00000001/large503725.jpg PM me know if you have of these parts unmarked for sale.
  21. Thankyou for the support, very friendly forum compared to others I have experienced. Picked the car up, found one or 2 problems with the car that need sorting: 1. Its throwing a CEL because one of the lambda sensors is failing, error says Bank 2 Sensor 1 but I have no idea what one it is. I know theres 3, im thinking its the one where both exhaust pipes meet if it says bank 2 but maybe someone can help me out on that one. 2. Its got that rear axle clicking thing going on, ive heard its not dangerous just annoying. Will get that sorted as I have seen the kits available to sort this on this forum. Will post piccys when I have a chance to get them off of the mrs'es phone. Your all right about me enjoying it, the car feels amazing to drive, did 150 miles back from Southampton yesterday and didnt notice at all. Did it all on 1/4 of a tank too. Also the rear end is very well planted, doesnt even feel like its RWD which was one of the things I was scared of. Also another thing im confused about, I read here that imports come with a 40 litre tank, mines got a 70?!
  22. Chain driven, awesome, my s2k was chain driven, big weight off of your mind. This just keeps getting better! Another thing I was worried about was the speed difference between my 300bhp evo 6 and the 350z. As far as I can see the 350z cant hold a candle to the evo6 0-60. But the midrange and highrange on the 350 appears to be alot better (with alot less clutches on fire...)
  23. Hey people, im off to Southampton tomorrow to pick my import 350z. I've read as much as I can in regards to the differences with imports and common problems that I may experience. I went there 3 weeks ago to test drive and choose 1 out of their 18 350z's. The 3 I picked to test drive were all 2003 models, but very low mileage, one had 16k on the clock, another had 19k and one had 29k. The 16k one was THRASHED, wheel bearing had gone after 16k, clutch was screwed and gearbox was crunchy between 1st > 2nd and 5th > 6th. I ended up picking the 29k one as it was in the best condition. Ive looked for all I could before placing the deposit like clicky rear axle, rust, gear change problems. Its the first time ive ever driven a V6, after comming from backgrounds such as the S2000 (which nearly killed me, seriously), celica GT4, Evo 6 (current car and part ex for the 350) im not used to the smooth V6 and got hooked straight away. Cant wait! Is there anything else I need to look out for when I pick the car up? They have already said they dont service it unless asked to which costs more, so my car is fresh from Japan unserviced. What should I do in regards to the cambelt and servicing? I would like to get the whole alot done straight away but I cannot afford it after just buying the car. Comes with 1 month warranty, im thinking about purchasing more.
  24. Hello, Im going to be a 350z owner within the next 3 weeks, me and my girlfriend found a lovley gunmetal 350z and have put a deposit on it today. Theres a few things im getting used to, like the rear wheel drive (evo 6 owner for a while). But the main thing is how I am going to hide the items I will be keeping in the boot as I live in a dodgy area (out of sight out of mind). Ive seen the tonneau cover on ebay, but that only hides the items from when they are looking in the front and not the back window or the rear side windows. Ive been thinking of a few things: 1. Get the tonneau cover and tint the rear windows. 2. Buy a bit of black fabric, attach it to the back of the boot below the rear window, and the back of the rear strut bar. My question is: Is there any product out there that does this well?
