They Shouldn't Be On The Road (2)
Tricky-Ricky replied to WhackyWill's topic in Off Topic Discussion
I'm reliably informed that these flags denote bad drivers, so does having more displayed mean there really bad drivers. -
Yes! i remember it well, i still listen to Steamhammer on a regular basis, and still have Spirit and Argent albums.

I would say that they have allowed the chain to drop off the crank sprocket during the water pump change, but in theory it should affect both stets of cams.

Another vote for the Civic 2.2 seriously quick for a small diesel as std with 50-60MPG.

Make of plug is totally immaterial (although i avoid Denso iridium on boosted application's, but thats personal preference) like i said as long as they are the correct heat range and reach etc there is no difference, apart form intended longevity. Iridium = intended for longer than average service life, IE where situation/location prohibits frequent change, service life from 30 to 60K mls Platinum = also longer service life, but slightly older tech/metal, similar to above, with a service life of up to 30K mls. Copper core = pretty much the original plug the copper core was developed to promote a stronger spark and keep heat in the plug, thees really need to be changed at around 10K mls There have been many so called "better plugs" with claims of better spark from exotic material's, extra electrodes, none of which are new, and there is no measured advantage in any of them.

As an old git, you start to worry much more when you can't remember any of them. Some of the members on here can probably remember sitting round the wireless in pre-TV times Not quite, but i can remember when there was just the one TV channel and it only broadcast in the evenings and not at all on Sunday.

HEL braided brake line install problem on HR! please help if possible.
Tricky-Ricky replied to RDON's topic in Brakes
If your running coil overs then you just use a P clip on the leg, but you also need to make sure you have the right angles on the unions to make sure that the hose doesn't naturally deflect toward the moving parts, obviously too complicated for the monkeys... err mechanics at the garage. -
Providing that the correct heat range and type are fitted there is no reason whatsoever for the engine to run badly, make of plug will make no difference at all.

Its not actually the spring that causes the heavy clutch, but the clutch itself, the reason its so heavy is because the pedal fulcrum point is incorrect (see my post about modifying this earlier in this thread) Another reason why people have so much trouble getting the adjustment correct is because they don't realise that the clutch start switch adjustment acts a s the clutch stop, and so influences the clutch pedal adjustment.

HEL braided brake line install problem on HR! please help if possible.
Tricky-Ricky replied to RDON's topic in Brakes
The HR suspension setup is just the same as the DE, and having fitted Hell lines to my 350GT i can only say that IMO the problem lies with the mechanics. -
Nissan has a new engine that weighs only 88lbs and puts out 400BHP.

Tree identified thanks - Now, how do we get it out ?
Tricky-Ricky replied to ATTAK Z's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Is there any footings etc going over the top of where the roots are? if so i would be careful as the roots rot which is quite quickly, you could end up with voids. -
LOL! £85 for a rad cap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Errr a std rad cap or one made just the same with Nismo on it, i know which one i would fit.

Only dug this out to help out a member who said they wanted it and now they have gone quiet, so i may as well put it up here, good condition and good working order,i should also point out that this has been refurbed IE commutator skimmed and undercut, and the brushes and springs checked and lubricated, as it common for them to stick,(i used to offer a service exchange, and this was one of my stock) £50 posted. paypal preferred buyer pays the charges, or collection from Kings Lynn area.

Definitely agree with you. When I was younger I often carried a knife as well ~ usually my Swiss Army knife but occasionally a small lock knife. It was used always as a tool and came in very handy especially when we used to make dens as young children. Unfortunately I have been in a few fights as a young guy growing up and never once did I resort to getting my knife out of my pocket even when I was once on the losing end of a scuffle. The mind set of some people these days is definitely messed up with some lacking any form of empathy at all for what they are doing to another person. Anyway enough of that. All getting a bit serious. Here's a few pics of some knives I've made. The knife below was made from a kit from Brusletto of Norway. Very easy to make (epoxy handle & ferrule/blade together) and tbh the hardest bit was hand stitching the leather scabbard. Also polished the metal work to make it a bit nicer than it was as standard. This is one of my favourite knives that I have made ~ it was again another kit this time from the "Rough Rider" custom shop. The kit was very poor and a lot of hand finishing was needed to get everything to fit together & work. I hand polished all the pins, wood, blade, spine and locks. I also slightly modified the blade for a more clipped back style point and mirror polished it. Hope you like. Very nice mate!

LOL! Sorry, wasn't aware.

Wasn't having a go at you fella, just your logic, when i was younger i used to shoot pigeons and rabbits and fish, as i lived in the country and thought it was normal, i now wouldn't intentionally hurt any animal, i even avoid pigeons in the road, i have become a softy, Mind you i am not too keen on people these days LOL! So in your mind because somebody makes knives its a bad thing just because they could be used as a weapon? in that case you would have to apply the same logic to manufactures of kitchen knives, cutlery, hammers, baseball bats................ need i go on. An aggressive person could do a lot of damage with a lot of every day objects, but that doesn't make the objects bad because of this, thats just daft.

Why is it that some see them as some gristly implement just meant for rending flesh, and some see them as a tool and a piece of artwork, when i was a kid i always had a pen knife in my pocket... it was just a tool, i never grew up to cut or stab people as a result of having one, a tool is just that until its in the hands of somebody who wants to use it as a weapon end of. Its the mind set that's changed these days, in my day we settled an argument if serious enough with our fists and that was it finished, not revenge etc., IMO people today are just cowardly in their behaviour.

LOL! at some of the response's, to me a knife is just another tool and one of the oldest ones to boot have never really looked upon them as anything else but, its like anything, misuse will always attach the wrong meaning. Mind you i am a fan of Dexter! Thanks for the positive responses no i have never been a smithy (although it does appeal) i have worked in engineering, but also lot of other things, and have always preferred to do/make things myself if i can rather than buy, GMballistic, i believe i also put a couple of my knife pics in my Supra thread, that where we probably discussed making knives i think, just thought i would put the new stuff up here rather than drag up an older thread.
-
Thought i would post this up as some here may appreciate a little craftsmanship, i use to make a few knives years ago, and after moving 2 years ago and having a lot more time on my hands, i decided to start up again. Did toy with the idea of actually making to sell, but on doing some research i found there where so many about, and surprisingly its hard to make a name for yourself to make it worthwhile, so i just make them for my own pleasure, these ones are not hardened as stainless is not easy, and requires chemical hardening, but i may have a go with some normal steel at a later date, anyway see what you think, i just like the aesthetics of the combination of different metals and wood.
-
Sounds to me like you where just to engrossed in doing a fast lap to notice the temp gauge climbing, so it could have been overheating from half way around or more and thats a long time...sorry to say i would lay good odds on the HG.
-
Are both fans running|? and no they wont tun off until the coolant temp has got to a point where the sensor is triggered, i would say by what you have described that its likely that its the head gasket.
-
Its just a suppression resistor, you can quite safely junk it and just stretch or replace the spring, or with something else conductive to make the contact, nearly all recommended spark plugs are resistor type anyway, by removing it you may or may not hear noise on the radio but i would doubt it.

Stagnant smell from aircon for a few seconds
Tricky-Ricky replied to EvansJD2112's topic in 350Z Technical
There is no reason to get your air-con regassed so often unless you have a leak problem, and then it needs to be fixed. -

If the air-con is working fine why regas? just get an anti bacterial cleaner for the matrix.
