  1. did you ever have a claim on them cars? Yes! which is why i mentioned it.
  2. I rode bikes for most of my life until i was forced to stop...through arthritis, anyway one thing i would say is that if your just starting out on bikes no matter what your age, once you have passed all the tests required, if you value your life and safety seek out a course on advanced and defensive riding... the roads and drivers of today are a real hazard to bike riders.
  3. AFAIK a vehicle colour change, or wheels is not a factor, i have resprayed some of my cars and never told the insurance company's, unless its some very garish colour that may distract others i really cant see any reason.
  4. I have a single one for sale here..http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/88100-radiator-fan-motor/
  5. LOL! yeah! you seem to get a spate of the same sort of problems cropping up at the same time on forums, just had a whole load of similar ones on the skyline forum.

To me some things need investigating further to find a solution, fist off your going by the spec provided by the previous owner, so it needs jacking up to see whether it has any after market suspension parts fitted or not, Your also going by the alignment being done previously by Nissan, and was this done before or after the wheels and spacers where fitted? To me there seem to be too many unknowns to be sure its not an issue that been previously created,it could have had previous damage to the suspension, i would check all the above and then get the alignment done by a performance orientated suspension specialist.
  7. 142psi is the lowest, and std is 185psi, with a maximum of 10% difference between cylinders, however it may be worth checking that the PCV system is working correctly as this can also cause excess smoke. Oh! and welcome to the forum.
  8. Run a compression and leak down test on the engine, i would suspect that the cats where disguising the problem, and now you have de catted your noticing the smoke, is yours a rev up motor by any chance?

You didn't answer my question about if the car has been lowered IE springs/dampers/coil overs, have you got a pic so we can see the arch clearance? My previous point was that if its been lowered it will increase camber to a point that cannot be compensated for by the std adjustment points, so any alignment done will just end up as near as which can lead to high speed instability. Also adding larger wheels and spacers will compound this effect.

Can i ask apart from the 20" which will have an effect on the overall feel of the car as to achieve the correct rolling radius the tyres are going to be very low profile IE 30-35, do you have the car lowered, and have you got adjustable camber control arms and rods fitted? Who did the alignment setup?

His spacers wont cause lift..!! I would be extremely surprised if what he is describing as "lift" actually was lift, i think has is just trying to describe a detached not quite in control feeling that often associated with bad alignment and or worn dampers, or badly designed/fitted/too large wheel spacers. However i might describe the feeling this guy is getting as lift rather than down force.
  12. 650rpm +-50 is the correct idle speed, and most of the DE engine i have seen have a slight uneven/miss on idle, i think its a case of some people notice it some don't. However the TPS doesn't sound right, how was it measured, and is the measurement reliable?

Could quite easily be caused by a bad alignment problem, worn dampers, or even tyres. Err hold on wasn't it you that reported problems with your spacers........
  14. I agree! with a bit of a careful tweak they can look stunning, i also think the G35/Skyline 350GT also is a better looking car than the Z, never liked the rear of the Z it always looks like the designer rushed it, but then beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
  15. I think you will only find a kit for a G37 in the states. http://www.myg37.com/forums/body-interior-exterior-lighting/186101-offical-thread-for-g37-body-kits.html
  16. A leak down test will be far more conclusive, but as said your probably better off getting a good used engine.......or even a LS1-2 swap.
  17. As i said in my add i used to run a service refuting them, mine is, but the brushes have not been replaced as they where within spec, the commutator has been skimmed and undercut, and the brushes lubed to prevent sticking, however i cannot guarantee it will not succumb to the same problem they all suffer from, as IMO they should have been vented to prevent carbon build up, most new motors will usually do about 30-40k before exhibiting problems, so should do that.
  18. Yes but not too much or you will screw the readings, 125psi is lower than the stated limit in the manual, lowest is 142psi and std is 185psi, so you have considerable ring/bore wear, unless the reading doesn't change with oil added.
  19. No valve stem seals will not cause the problems, and what was the compression readings? and how where they taken, you can have good compression but still have bad oil consumption due to bad oil rings...which is what the rev up motors are known for.
  20. You cant get the motors out in situ as you cant access the nuts to remove the fans themselves, as said the complete assembly has to come out.
  21. I have a single one in good working order here,http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/88100-radiator-fan-motor/ I do have another the same, but without the two speed option. Edit forgot you already know sorry.
  22. My Dad survived both wars, he lied about his age to join up in the WW1 as tank crew, and later as mounted cavalry, god knows how he survived that, and then as a captain in the engineering core in WW2, and got awarded the title of Capitan for life, never really spoke about his experiences though. Who knows where we would be without their efforts though.
  23. Never quite seen the sense in buying pre mix when you can by 5lt of concentrate for less than half that price.
  24. Does happen I'm afraid, depends on the kind of coating as to how long it lasts, a temporary fix would be to remove as much rust as possible and treat and paint, but it will come back, the only sure way is to sand blast and powder coat. .
  25. Great to hear its still flying, i thought last year was it, as they had run out of funding, will keep an ear out for it, i used to see them regularly when i was a nipper, as i lived at the bottom of Biggin Hill runway before it went civil. Took these pics last year as it flew over my house.
