  1. Anything that allows the heated engine bay air into the intake system is going to have a detrimental effect on performance, the std box has a cold air from the outside of the car, and cutting holes in it will ruin the reasonable well designed intake, if you must have the noise, then fit a proper ducted induction kit with the filter enclosed and fed with airflow from =outside the engine bay.
  2. All paint colours will fade to some degree with UV exposure, its just a case of some colours and pigments being more susceptible than others, as said pigments have come on a lot with recent paint development, so the amount of fade is far less than of older paint technologies.
  3. Did you by any chance disconnect the battery? this would initiate idle air relearn, its also possible that if you cleaned the throttle bodies you moved the butterfly which would also initiate TPS relearn.
  4. Its only the first lambda sensors that's used by the ECU to adjust fuelling, the one in the cat are just monitors for cat condition, and are only used for adjustment should a failure occur, the plugs AFAIK are no interchangeable, the right and left lambda plugs are colour coded.
  5. Might be worth getting the fault codes read, I am starting to wonder if its down to the cam position sensor.
  6. I have for sale High Performance Imports vol 1 to 10, Grip video vol 1 to 8, Option and some odd Japanese car DVDs x 4, serious Performance x2, High Octane 1 to 3, Neweara imports, Skylines and Skyscrapers, and Far East Extreme, Supra Nationals x3. They basically feature Drifting, Drags, Wangen, car features, Visits to well known tuning shops, street cars, and street drifting, plus lots more interesting stuff. All imported from OZ the States and Japan, and in VGC, I am looking for £5 each posted, or will sell all 31 DVDs for £120 +P&P These are also for sale elsewhere.
  7. So a 120psi start could be normal. How about 120psi idle after 10 minutes of driving? Not long enough to warm the oil to a lower viscosity perhaps? Don't really want to be changing £80 sensors for no reason. As I stated I have no point of reference for a normal psi range having only completed 1 drive in the car. Guess I will do an oil change so I know that it has the correct quantity and grade of oil. I'l give it a quick run around and see if the psi will revert to 60/70 range. If not I will change the sensor next. Many thanks everybody. IF the gauge is reading anything else but zero when the ignition switched on, then the sensor is probably faulty, in which case replace the sensor and see if the gauge behaves normally, IE cold start anything from 80 to 130PSI depending on the oil pressure relief valve. As I said previously if the oil is cold its not unusual to see that sort of pressure, but once the engine has warmed up anything from 10 to 20 minuets it should drop to around the 70psi mark at around 4k rpm, However these pressures will change depending on the oil viscosity used, not by a lot but the difference between say 5w30 and 10w40 can be as much as 10psi to 15psi.
  8. I think the OP needs to realise that temperature affects oil viscosity, cold oil will give a considerably higher pressure than hot oil, 120psi on cold start is not unusual, but the 70psi that the OP is seeing on a hot engine is normal.
  9. Your never to old! I only sold my Skyline two years ago at 60, and that was only because I have retired and have to watch the pennies a bit more, never managed to amass the fortune that I hoped for when I was younger, bloody recessions! Anyway as long as you can physically get in and out without looking like a complete old fart ( I was starting to get that way with my Supra due to arthritis) these days I have realised that I might as well try and make the most of my pleasures even I end up in debit as you don't know just how much more of life you will get.
  10. OK get yourself a brazing or welding rod/or similar piece of metal that is more than long enough, bend one end into a close U shape, and if necessary sharpen the end, poke it down the plug orifice and snag the underside of the rubber and pull....this should get it out after a few tries. Oh! and a tip for stopping the said rubber bit from coming out again...get some impact adhesive, or silicone and glue the bugger in.
  11. So your plug socket left its rubber gripper on one of the plugs? so how is this Halfords fault? And why don't you just get some long nose pliers and get the gripper off the plug?
  12. Almost certainly the motors, they can be dismantled and cleaned, which usually gives them a new lease of life, or replaced with std or aftermarket.
  13. The problem as you found out, with fitting uprated springs to aged standard dampers is that they will often develop problems and leak, its always best to fit new or uprated dampers with uprated lowering springs, or better still, with a matched combination of springs and dampers.
  14. A supercharger or a turbo.....also deep pockets LOL!
  15. Its normal fella, cold oil will always make higher pressures.
  16. I always thought that the police where supposed to be public servants.....but maybe I was wrong?
  17. This thread was over a year ago so I hope he's forgotten about it or got them done properly by now. He is probably in the process of re doing them then.

  19. I occasionally go along and watch a practice session, but not been for a while now.
  20. First off plugs can be any of the following depending on how much you want to pay and how often you want to change, NGK LFR5AIX-11 (iridium) or PLFR5A-11 (platinum) or if your not worried about changing them more frequently just LFR5A-11 Definitely cover the heads, you really don't want dust, grit etc going into the oil and getting carried around the engine, the pipe in the last pic is to the heater so full of coolant.
  21. You can use copper core plugs which will cost you £10-15 for a set, those look not too bad except for the last one which looks like its has a bit of a build up on it.
  22. Its up to you if you want to risk contaminants, if you do that I would just give it a wipe with spirit wipe before you recoat, you only need to leave it a few minutes in these temps before recoating.
  23. Feel for you mate, when I lived down on the south coast I had to park all my cars on the road, and have suffered the aftermath like you, south coast towns seen to have more than there fair share of morons...glad I moved.
