BMW have always been about the bhp thought wheater it's cos they are usually more focused and revvy than the merc or because the headline bhp Sells cars I don't know.

Resonated decats flow no less then normal decats just tone the sound a little. if you have decats on your car and say they are silenced no one will belive you

i bet in the next 10-15 years over half of them will close though. be a real shame though. its something we're actually quiet good at, ok the main car manufacturing might suffer, but the bespoke stuff like the motorsport technology will grow, as its not a mass market, people will pay the premium for the skilled people in the UK to build it/design it etc as they are some of the best in the world. I agree, but when you look at the politics of the UK, Labour is broke and now heavily funded by unions (not meaning to turn this into a polictal debate) but if they get back in and do what they usually do there will be no manufactoring. In the US if they need anything done to their car there is alot of people catering for the car market but we dont seem to have that market? I hope these are nothing like the middle aged mg's like the mgzr I thought they where horrible.

I agree with you kinda, but am I wrong in saying your an older more experianced driver? If your an old skooler you have probably had many many cars that are rwd and are used to it. Most of my generation are scared of rwd and they think its gran turismo style that you keep spinning out. Honestly when we where younger and still my freinds now say i like it but its rwd that puts me off. I always drive with it on, but it never comes on though. I dont push the car hard as Im still very much scared of it.

why the face? You expect them to make reasonbly priced cars here? why not others manage it? I surprised BMW are setting up a new plant in England, but high tax, vat, high costs of staff and all costs that go with staff e.g. holiday pay and all that makes it hard for them to do business here.

They are... have you SEEN the crashes/speed/stupid stuff the American kids do in them? To be honest the build quality of the Zed isn't fantastic, (Slim) after seeing the build quality of your fathers car (Merc) there's a massive difference. I bet if you removed the drivers door from both vehicles. The weight of the Merc door in comparison to the Zed door I'd say could potentially be twice the weight. Why? Cos it's built for safety. I don't believe the Zed would stand up that well in a major crash, yet we all like to have some spirited drives. That's tempted me to investigate the NCAP ratings...... My dad has an S500L and it doesnt weigh that much more than the 350z, also the doors are fairly lightweight as they are made from aluminium Also stiffer isnt always better you could build a car that could survive any crash but the rapid decelleration would kill you. Its a balance between stiffness and stength verus aborbing the energy of the impact.
