It was more the point that a set of falkens would be better than your average budget set. Personally, for the sake of 100 quid or something like that, I would buy the right tyres and a brand that performs to a decent level, its not worth your car being written off for or even your health put at risk, to save a few quid. So why buy falkens? I put them on my mum and dads car they arent all that. +1 Buy what you want, but dont buy tyres because they are cheap. That should not be a consideration. But the 40's are cheaper for no difference in grip. Unless your running super sports and blizacks your not best person to be giving that advice. 100% agree Stew. There is much better tyres in the 40 profile including my favourite Goodyear F1a2.

Well on cliosport people arent really as close minded as some people. Ohh a renault not like its pretty much the same company and how anyone that drives a nissan can be a brand snob I dont know. I own a 172 and a 350 and like both for their abilities one isnt better than the other IMO.

I don't see the point in sticking to 225/45/18 as they are way more expensive with less choice. Odd size maybe? I know what your saying with the speedo but I can live with a small percentage. Get on a tyre size calc site. Stick in the OEM tyre size and then the new tyre size and compare. The point I was making was to the OP and that you cant blindly put 40 profiles on, you need to understand the relationship first, which no one has explained. People usually come unstuck by not understanding this and just swapping tyres willy nilly

The skunk2 guy says you can run spacers I don't see how it works. With no strut brace you will lose front end sharpness. How much I don't know.

I was going to put engine flush in the 350 once but the people at my dealership said that they already use flush as part of the service anyway.

Also just watched it. Its the trophy its against. The trophy is the limited edition track version usually. The clio trophy suspension alone was over £3k. After watching that I so want a 370 its an awesome looking car

Hmm after a lil diggin, some people say it can be fitted but you need spacers. But I dont see how that helps you if your is hitting the bonnet. Can I ask why you got the skunk2? It doesnt get great reviews in the US.

where is it hitting? You might be able to cut a little bit of the bonnet away

The skunk2 is 5/8's. Dont know what that is in cm's lol. But some people say its a tight fit with the bar. The problem isnt spacing it from the plenum but from hitting the bonnet.

not really. Your forgetting insurance, tax and unrelibility issues. Ive drove on ice with winter tyres keep the speed down you will be fine. If your driving around in a shed with no winter tyres and its cold your a hazard to everyone around you.

+1. The s2000 and z3m's did this as people branded the first cars snappy and widow makers but now they are less neutral. I think for day to day its better though.

Running 245/45/18 and 235/40/18 on the front no problems whats so ever. Ive done more than 20k miles on them too. Im replacing them for 225/40/18s as they are a hell of a lot cheaper. I personally havent found any of this traction control problems alot of people bang on about. Maybe my car is different? Clearly you've never understoon any of the posts I've made explaining how TC works then? You are not finding any problem as your difference in percentage terms of rolling radius front to rear keeps the stagger that the TCS expects. Should you run tyres with the same rolling radius front to rear you will understand what we are talking about. As for the OPs original question, yes you can run a 40 profile. I did on my 18s on the 350z as Falkens have somewhat soggy sidewalls and I was recommended to do so. You need to keep the OEM front to rear stagger in rolling radius though. So use 40 profile all round and you'll be fine AFAIK, but keep to staggered widths such as 225F and 245R. Yes I did. But why does everyone keep to 45's then? They are more expensive, less choice and they have a bigger sidewall to flex. And the OP was asking about 40 profiles so what you on about?

My front bumper looks like a peice of modern art it's got millions of cracks in it. I think it's caused by the bumper flexing but the paint not flexing. If you can ask the bodyshop to put on a more flexible strechty paint I'm sure it exists.

In this thread it IS a girls car literally! I would like to own one, one day. I really think it's up there in the cars you must try. alot of people on here are open minded, but there are many on here who will see the S2K as a girls car. there loss in my opinion.
