  1. You used to drive a Hyundai Coupe. You can't slag anyone elses taste of car or what they do to it. Stock 350z no sorry Modded (I bet he has a stubby aerial and spacer lol cos he hardcore racecar) slags modded car. IMO people who slag other cars like that aren't real petrol heads. A real petrol head will think wow I wonder how he did that. Alot of effort must have went into it. I hope his car makes him happy. You do realise we don't all want to drive fast.
  2. VERY nice at the moment in Dubai. About 30 degrees so cool enough to do things as opposed to the summer when it is so hot it is almost indescribable. Imagine the hottest UK August day and then going jogging. Wearing a duvet. For example, just about to set off for an outdoor champagne brunch at La Meridien Hotel (unlimited top bubbly Veuve Clicquot/Cristal etc. for 4 hours!!!) and then maybe a little snooze by the pool. Might take the new motor (see thread coming up later) for a little spin up in to the mountains in Al Ain tomorrow to catch the sunrise. sorry....... showing off now over. Glad you enjoying it. 30c sounds nice. Now to win the lottery.
  3. I really really need to move! I miss the sun and warmth.
  4. Somewhat harsh as those of us who have modified cars know all too well that is difficult enough to find a friendly insurance company/broker (in this world of computerized tickboxes) that fully understands 'modifications' and use their commonsense to quote something that is reasonable. So to find on renewal that there is competition out there that means we pay less is a real bonus. But perhaps your never-ending change of cars 'cos you kept buying duds has coloured your judgement as they are no doubt unmodified, which is what the vast majority of the insurance industry wants and hence you had greater choice....... Wow that last line was abit personal wasnt it? I agree 100% with Ricey. He isn't having a go at anyone here. He is just saying it is sad that insurance is usually such a rubbish thing in the cost, customer service the way you have to do this and that etc etc. It's like saying yeahh I went to Mcdonalds today and they DIDN'T spit on my food. Woohoo. That's how I'm seeing it as anyway.
  5. Rb and the jz are super heavy in comparison to the vq. Obviously they can produce a lot more power. But would it affect the way it drives a lot?
  6. ANTI LAG!!!! I want it sooo sooo soo sooo bad :-(.
  7. Plus that rb26 is tame. This 2jz is what I want
  8. And turbo's and chargers dont really come into this tbh. A flat torque graph, smooth power graph is exactly what you want. You are 100% right Neil but.... I went out with my friend in his turbo car. The acceleration was silly at some points but more power isn't everything for me. The drama of waiting for the turbo to kick in is addictive and the noises and whistles and they way it comes on is just fun. It feels like there is so much happening. I'd still prefer a N/A for driving on b roads etc BUT turbo's are alot of fun. Just different. Harder to drive and control in some ways plus N/A cars just drive better in anger round corners IMO but it opened my eyes that turbo's can be alot of fun. Not just drag racing. Saying that his daily driver is a 5l v8 so he has the best of both worlds and frequently tells me he prefers his DD!
  9. Ok. But it's a pretty long procedure and you have to get every step right. Took me about 1 hour once.
  10. Buy on condition and then spec. I'd go for a mint low spec 350 than a dog uk spec. Why because it would fit my needs. Other people want the toys etc. Imports are generally lower specced hence the price but they aren't worse cars. The ST's still fetch good money.
  11. It's not the same to read a code to set the idle air learning.
  12. i'd say the spacer. The plenum v1 was weak. The v2 or v3 was much better though. The plenum has the spacer on it.
  13. This is a new one to me! Could i ask firstly, why did people think they would "explode"? and why would a JDM be more likely to have had better fuel in both countries? Literally 100000, s of imports of all sorts in this country without issue, jap fuel is 100ron so just run in on optimax or equivalent, which most owners uk or jdm do anyway. Exactly so here and in Japan no 95ron would have been used but the UK cars I bet 95ron would be used most often.
  14. Also cheeky wee question. This one looked nicer but which one did you prefer your 1st one or this one?
  15. BOO, my JDM bro is no more. Glad to see it went to a good home!
  16. Possibly it relearns more than just the idle air thing. Might adjust a few other things. When I first joined. People used to disconnect their battery and then connect them the next day for a little more oomph.
  17. I know the forum controversy has died down now but remember when everyone wanted to check if the car was always driven with 99ron and would explode otherwise? A JDM is more likely to have been run on better fuel here and in Japan.
  18. I wouldn't have punched the guy but I don't blame the guy for doing it. Remember we saw it from the outside. If you was the driver you would be like what the hell is this guy gonna do. Fight or flight bang.
  19. You can do the reset procedure with the idle air relearn.
