  1. Trains are the first things cancelled when it shows and buses take years to turn up.
  2. Sorry to hear your having problems but the way your solving them is good reading/information

    Oponeo

£60-70 for fitting? Who do you go to the queen? Can't you get them delivered to work or a mates? Each to their own though
  4. Something wrong with you then I dunno after all their fancy cars this one looks bland. Also Wasso I think hit it on the head its like a merging of the last 2 but not really good.
  5. In some ways its cheaper since you can get some 18 non rays cheap and it saves you the £40+ for swapping the tyres over every time. So once on and once off is £80 already. Thats just for one year so for 2 years its going to be £160+ in tyre fitting costs alone and you lose out on all the other benefits. Secondly you can protect your rays or nice alloys from salt, corrosion and damage. Thirdly yes that way you can whip on and off as you please. Lets say we get a heat wave in january (i wish) then it's no problem to change them.
  6. My point with winter tyres are they are safer at cold temperatures. For me I have to get around so I want and need the safty of being able to get around safely. The car that my nieces are in to go nursey has winter tyres as again I want the safety for them. I don't NEED winter tyres but a few years ago we had that cold snap in april. I wished I had my winter tyres so much. With winter tyres you can potentially and thats the key word potentially save money on tyres since they swap when it gets cold and winters seem to wear quite well. Save you money as your car will have much much more control and therefore you won't slide into anything or another car. It's safer. Also it will save you time. A normal journey when snowing fairly heavily with winter tyres with double just so I'm being safe. That journey will become tiring, dangerous and take maybe 10x the time it would have taken normally. For me its a no brainer. BUT if you live in the SAAAAFFF you might not get it as bad or as cold as up here so it really is just a few days a year.
  7. No way would an 04 tdi have a dpf. I would say EGR clean and maf clean. Is it the 1.9 I assume? Check if its boosting properly and check for boost leaks. Boost leak is very possible.
  8. Just as good as your input on tyres I keed. Because that is just lol. Lol or a picture is the way I feel and therefore posting it. I could run on about why it's stupid but your post already explained that better than I could have. Thread looks like this bloody foreigners. Few people like yeah yeah bloody foreigners. Oh yeah the guy who told me had a swastika tattooed on his head. I mean seriously you that gullible to take 1 persons advice who you probably don't know that well. Plus it's Xmas. Where is the love for humans? For people?
  9. No but run your hand over mpss smooth. Run them over winters. The sipes and other things give then bite. They are quite abrasive. Some are made with coconut shells for extra friction. Try them against the mpss like some of us. Then you can see if your "theory" is right. Since we have the experience we can say fact.
  10. Also remember snow grip is very low after 4mm. Wet weather grip will start falling off at about the same too.
  11. I can't remember who It was Neil and SMD or maybe Ekona but they where saying you can get heat by rubbing 2 ice cubes together which is true. I may not fully understand this but imagine you have a row of ice cubes 1 mile long. All chilled at -10c lets say. Lets say air temperature is between -10 and -5c. If you rub 2 ice together they will melt but if you run 1 ice cube over the mile of seperate ice cubes, won't the heat be sucked out of the 1 ice cube (on top) into the row therefore keeping the tyres cold aka the top ice cube cold? I know this would only really happen at very cold temperatures and down saaaf your probably ok but in Scotland I think they are worth their weight in gold tbh.

    MPG!

Yaaaay another mpg thread! It will go like this Oh you need to do 1mpg to have fun. Oh if you care about mpg you shouldn't be driving a zed. Sigh... Either way the zed is a good gt and the torque makes it great in fuel IMO. Just shoes you can have your cake and eat it sometimes!
  13. You will be fine. Just drive carefully.
  14. Check the codes. Could be maf or 1st lambda. Sometimes the codes will be stored but the light won't come on.
  15. Sorry to hear that mate :-(. Rev ups do burn oil and it's well known tsb so maybe use that with the dealer? Hope you get it sorted as easily as possible.
  16. I know the car that is really nice. Looks really really good.
  17. The do luck actually looks good with the vinyl line and do luck logo.

    what wheels

Lol actually called unknown! Konig unknown's.
  19. Who did you buy it from? it sounds bad but really the seller should sort out this mess. also you won't get what the exhaust is worth but must be something you can claim even if it's £50-£100.
  20. It depends on which kinetx plenum you mean. The one that looks like standard with a built in spacer or the one with the 6 pipes? I'm pretty sure neither of them lose you power. The cosworth loses power unless 'charged.
  21. without going , there are plenty of specific oil threads recommending 5w30. For that reason and for the reason I do not have oil issues, I would not put anything else in. I believe that if you have a revup model, you should just accept the oil loss as a trait of the car and top up accordingly. That's my opinion. Bringing it back on topic now (and coming away from the Dblock shlong measuring competition), I would say that the OP needs to get some seperate opinions on the tapping, perhaps from a few different garages. By putting a thicker oil in, you are not curing the problem. My car has just hit 90k, doesn't lose a drop between services (maybe that's because I only do 4k a year). It also is a very quiet engine without any suspect tapping. My advice would be to follow Alex's advice and check valve clearances and wear on the cam lobes. Changing the cams is a pretty hefty job, but cross that bridge if needed. Good luck and let us all know how you get one Schlocg measuring? I don't know why you can't accept what I'm saying. Read the post directly below yours. You tell me like I'm new to these cars lol.
