  1. Mine looks just like that under artificial light. Love going in for fuel at night. Shows all the pearl and metalic in the paint.
  2. And.... I even like the colour.....
  3. I managed to fit 2 amps and a 6 disc mp3 autochanger in the spaces behind the bulk head. A 1000Watt monoblock for the Sub and a 4 way 500Watt for the fronts and rears. All anyone can see are the colour coded rears (Lurverly bright orange)
  4. food for thought, thanks This advice is dead right. It depends what your goal is. Full on maximum impact show car install or massive upgrade stealth system. If its the latter then 8" is a lot of work for not alot of gain. Last year I auditioned loads of speakers for my stealth install. The best I listened to were made by Rainbow, but at the time were out of my reach. I bought in the end Hertz Hi-Energy 2 ways for the rears and Hi-Energy Space components for the fronts and i am very happy with them, but JL's, JBL and number of others were no bad either. You have a blank sheet looking at the pic, So choose a path. Just remember Dyna-Mat everthing. I know you can't see it and it may seem expensive, but if you don't, it won't matter how good the speakers are when the interior shakes itself to bits around you. My 10" Alpine Type-R sub fitted in a custom box in the original location moves 15 times more air than the Bose Cowpat fitted as standard (you will feel it)
  5. It will M8. It was a hard decision to start messing with a brand new car, but the Bose had to go and the leather stands for itself. The Z deserves it..Go on.....yer know yer want it.....
  6. They never sorted this, mine is was one of the last 350's and it's not perfect either.
  7. I feel for yer m8, but I know when to let a pro sort summat. And car Hi-Fi is not my forte. I have some number of a couple of guys who know this stuff well, but are local to me sadly. They are mobile, if you want their numbers PM me and you could maybe come this way and meet them. If you get it sorted the head unit is a solid piece of kit with built in inputs reversing cameras' and all sort if trickery.
  8. Lets be honest the mobile Bose systems are garbage.... Not even real Bose, just rebadged.. I have a full Bose install at home and there is just no comparison. Domestic has rich, clean, punchy sound repruduction and the Mobile audio stuff once pushed sounds like a duck farting underwater... Mine was in the car when I bought it, I didn't ask for it, it was just in... Couldn't get rid of it quick enough... As was all the other GT pack stuff. The leather is fab (And the heaters Nix) as is the Sat-Nav, But the Foux Bose is the week link. I've seen Nixy's re-trim and it's top quality. Worth every penny. IMOA.
  9. Hi, I have the same head unit. It was a total nightmare for so called professional installers at RAM. I beleive there's 1 in Hull, but I wouldn't recommend them. It's OK now, but they had my Z, 4 times to sort it. 1st time it came back with just the head unit change and I had no Sat-Nav sound.(3 days it took-em) 2nd time, no sat-nav or front speaker sound (All bose stuff removed). (Another 3 days) 3rd time, got all the sound back, but they had to take a transducer out of the Bose head unit to get the sat-nav to talk again. They delivered the car back (only 3 months old at the time, which made it worse) Didn't set up the system and to top it off they'd dinked the NS front wheel which they denied. (TOTALLY CRAP SERVICE). So... to the point. The Bose kit is garbage, bin the lot. Get someone in who knows his stuff and Dyna-mat everything. My Alpine R310 unit is spot on. 2 Alpine amps (1 for the sub and 1 fort the speakers). Speakers are Hertz Hi-Energy. You might have seen these pics before... If so sorry... Hope this helps.....
  10. Hi, As with all thinng, it's better let someone who knows what they're about work on your Z. I can't blame you for wanting to get rid of the Bose unit. Mine lasted 3 months. It's ok I suppose, but if you want some punch to your sounds then junk it. A steering control module for a new head unit is no big issue, most of the main players are catered for (Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood). About £60 to £80. The OEM speakers are ok (Ish), But no great shakes. Many good ones available. Look at some of the threads on hear. So many variations. The search is a good tool. I went with a Doulble din adaptor and an Alpine flip-out head unit, Amps and Sub. Then Hertz Hi-Energy speakers (Components front and 2 Way rear). Just to demonstrate a good Sub will move about 15x more air than the bose one. Hope this helps...

  13. Hi, I've got a couple. PM me your address and I'll post 1 to you.
  14. Hi All, Here's the final update. New Badge arrived from Ebay seller as promised. Changed it out and sent the old one back. You can't say fairer than that. This guy was as good as his word. I emailed him and said I would post on the forum the outcome. He Guarantee's his products and backs it up if they fail. great work. Here's the link:- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 2761.l1259 Daz.
  15. Listen to this advice! Let the pro do it, touch nothing. The trim may not have to come off. He will turn up with a stack of tools to do the job.
  16. If you like-em M8. That's all that matters.
  17. These look exactly like the one I bought. Similar price (when converted to £), so don't know if they would be better or not. Thanks.
  18. Mine is a plastic/chromed Z. Don't know if the black ones are trouble or not. Just to update. Had further dialog with the seller (unbelievable). At first he asked me to take it off and send it back to him for an inspection, which I declined and we agreed to compramise and I sent him a photo and I agreed to return the knacked 1 when a new 1 arrived. He agreed and is sending me a new "bodge" sorry badge on Monday. Can't ask for more really. He said he was a Z owner too and he has had no other issues with the badges, having sold a large number of them. My thoughts are what to do with new 1 to protect it. Lacquer maybe? Further updates to follow.
  19. Andy, Just read this massive post. You my friend have the heart of a lion. Keep it up. Good luck, Hope to see this car 1 day.
  20. Look at the upside. Excuse to upgrade. I see shiny new bits and urathaine bushes in your future.
