What your thinking of doing re the stock cats? I think you need to either run race cats in the stock postion or run Motorsdyne ART pipes or Berk decats in the stock postion and a XYZ fitted with race cat. We normally get between 250 and 260 HUB bhp with the mods you have quoted including doing something with the cats. My own UK 2004 350z is running ART de-cats and XYZ with no CAT , No PLENUM spacer stock 04 airbox with HKS filter runs 254bhp at the hub,s with a good UPREV tune. I feel it may give another 5/10bhp with a plenum spacer, drives real nice very strong mid-range. Mark

Yep just the brake light switch, the car is pretty clever it see's an increase in brake pressure but no brake lights so throws a CEL.

UK 370Z and GTR have a system that if the front bumper has a hit under a certain road speed normally by a person, the back of the bonnet is pushed up by hyraulic rams so stopping the person from coming into contact with the hard engine under neath the bonnet and injuring there selves. Removing the bumper or bonnet will put the warning light on , normally a main dealer trip to turnt he light back off.

can we stop filling RS tuning's thread with rubbish. people can go where they like , RS and Abbey have both tuned 350Z's for a while.

We will have our New Nissan Consult 3 in the next few days , so we can help you 370Z owners out with any troubles now. We can even turn out the problematic bonnet jacker light. :-) Mark

If you buy a S/H gearbox how do you know if it is going to last, what life has it had before you brought it? Think I will stop giving advise on this type of threads , I just get shot down as if I dont know anything. We have rebuilt a numbe rof gearboxs that been fitte dinto cars and after a few months given trouble. Worth stripping your box to have a look inside I think , is it noisy in all gears or noisier in the lower gears but quietens off as you get in the higher gears?

I think around 300bhp flywheel is the max from a stock motor with a bolt on parts. If you bolt on ART de-cats and XYZ with race cat, good panel filter and a good remap your always see around 300/305 flywheel bhp , if you run with out any cats your see around another 5/8 bhp/torque. Exhaust systems dont normally deliver anymore performance if they are bolted to a stock car we find , its the Y pipe and forward that makes the difference we find. Plenum spacer does work fattens up the mid range torque a little , I am the lover of a stock airbox even if it isnt a 06 box with a Panel filter. Headers I feel are a waste of money very small gains from them we find. Stock De-cats versus ART de-cats , the ARTS always give more torque and take the edge off of the noise , Y pipes I like the Motordyne as it allows us to run a race cat easily. I know we dont get big figures from these cars but I not had anyone not be happy after we tuned there cars.

Pimm, quote]I wonder if Abbey have got the tuning even better this year than last year, refined the map ect.... if you know what i mean. Has someone said we didnt do a good job? never had a complaint so far?

Sam, just walking out of the office 500cc injectors are only good for around 400ish BHP , I would go larger something like 600/750cc so we not up around/above 90% injector duty. I will work prices out , but I am happier supplying the whole kit as I know they will work all together. But I am away from the office until tuesday next week can you wait until then? Mark

Sam, I need to have alook at the last set of dyno plot for your ca r, but I would say changing over to Uprev will definitely be a postive move. The split second module is a little old fashioned in my eyes. But if you go over to Uprev we will need to do a little more work I am afraid it wont be just a remap. From my memory your car just boost's the stock fuel pressure to add fuel for boost this is done with a in line fuel pump, this sint the saefest way, I know you had no hassle but things change over time. When we either build/tune a FI car we advise to do the following Uprated fuel pump return fuel system larger injectors Uprated air flow meter if needed Uprev remap of stock ECU .(remap throttle to give same response in all gears , raise speed limit raise rpm limit slightly , remap igntion/fuel maps) Will it be better yes I feel we will gain a lot more driveability , better throttle response more fuel economy and be a lot safer in my eyes. I have a look at the dyno plots later and comment a little more. any more questions ask away. Mark

With carfeul tuning especially around part throttle we normally see a gain in MPG , but most peopl eenjoy the better response so are a little heavy right footed for a while but I have always had people say the cars are a littl ebetter on MPG after tuning. We could tune your car for Unleaded thou , I think with some bolt on mods we can get a little over the stock BHP/Torque figure using the cheaper unleaded fuel. The cost for the remap will be alittle higher than the normal remap but it can be done and if you have a later spec UK car Uprev model onwards or an import you could have multi fuel maps. But the map selection is on your back as chossing the wrong map may cause engine damage ( running a super unleaded map with unleaded fuel will cause detonation when outside the knock control window of the stock ECU) any questions fire away. CHIP & RE MAPPING MY 350Z
Mark@Abbey m/s replied to ste33r's topic in Introductions & Welcome Messages
Welcome to the mad house. But it isnt the BHP/Torque gain ( we normally get 8/10 bhp and the same torque gain) we remap the throttle to give the same response in all gears , tweak the cams map for better response and fuel ecomony, raise the speed limit and raise the rev limiter a 100rpm. Not had any one that hasnt been happy with a remap and we done a few now. -
Cobb have never downloaded the UK ROMs they are different to the US ROMS (ROMS are the maps in the ECU), so they have never realised the Cobb system for the 350Z's, they have now stopped making the Cobb for the 350Z's, the 370Z again has a different ROM to a US car but Cobb never wanted to get into this car. they only make a system for the GTR now. Uprev have nearly all the ROM's for the UK and JDM's car we ocassionaly come across a car we dont have the ROM for we just download the RAM and withinn 2 weeks we are able to map that car via the Uprev system , JDM auto's seem to be the stuff we dont have everything ROM but we are gettting there. We like to tune the car on the dyno when mapping the car , but we can also supply a Osiris system that allows the user to upload the map there self , they can log the ecu then we can tweak the map to suit the car , I am not 100% happy to do the mapping thid way but I do know the cars that well now I am happy to do this the car will not be tuned to give max torque and BHP this way thou , the Osiris system is $700US to buy which comes with 3 e-tunes. Besy way is to come to us we can remap your car on our Dynapack dyno. The car will be set up 100% perfect. Price is £335-00 + vat which I think is just over £400-00 now. Anymore questions ask away. BTW we will also be able to tune the 35GTR with Uprev hopefully by the end of Febuary as well. These will be more expensive but again an awesome piece of kit.

If you going to fit cams your need to do a few other things; the stock car cant be reved above 7200rpm as the stock valve spring retainers are made of plastic ( only joking) alloy so they seem to pull over the valve collets if you try to rev the motor harder. Also fitting cams lowers the dynamic compression ratio so I feel you need to raise the stock compression to make the cams work properly. We just finshed a N/A DE build , Cosworth heads/HKS cams , Abbey forged rods and pistons , Rev up oil pump , HKS headers , Berks race cats , Cosworth plenum, a lot of the stuff was already fitted before the car came to us with a Piggy back ecu fitted to tune the car for the Cosworth heads/HKS cams etc etc, we 1st remove the piggy back and tuned the car with the Uprev system , then we rebuilt the motor with the forged rods and pistons oil pump etc. The car produced around 310 bhp at the flywheel with the stock bottom end and 245lb/ft of torque. After rebuilding the motor we managed to get 340bhp flywheel and 265 lb/ft of torque still running race cats , then next step is to remove the cats and see if the car gains any BHP/TORQUE. The car drives so nice but I am still undecided if N/A or S/C is the way to go on a fast road car.

servicing recomendations near southend ESSEX
Mark@Abbey m/s replied to olivergreenhill's topic in Servicing
350Z fuel filter isn't changable it says they are a life time filter. What service did you want done? Have they garages got Consult 2/3 for diagnostic inspection? Mark -
yes no telling to be honest , I would imagine around in the middle but all cars do seem to be a little different, yours is an Auto so will be different numbers thou Yes Gen 3 i think they are called , but Stock Airboxes with HKS filters are my choice.

The 2nd set of dyno plots on the next post are the same car + Motordyne ART de-cat pipes fitted + XYZ Y pipe with race cat fitted. we seem to lose a little bottom end torque/bhp but midrange and top end gains seem to pretty good on a N/A car.

Hi , just thought I let you know we have been tuning a few 370Z over the last few months. The stock car has 2 set of cats fitted , most after market systems remove the rear Secondary cats this gives the car a BHP/torque gain and makes the cars sound a lot better. The cars from the factory are tuned very rich which I feel hold's the car back a lot. The 1st set of dyno plots are a STOCK map in the ECU but the car had HKS ssm exhaust system and Stillen long tube filters, I think the Stock air boxes give the same gain when fitted with HKS filters but they dont sound as nice as the Stillen filter kit , then the same car remapped. The 2nd set of dyno plots on the next below post are the same car + Motordyne ART de-cat pipes fitted + XYZ Y pipe with race cat fitted. The car sounded awesome under load but still nice and quiet when cruising and on small throttle openings The biggest gain is the remap but adding the Motordyne stuff loses a little bottom end bhp/torque but gains midrange torque and top end BHP. I still dont have a totally stock car dyno plot yet but I hope to very soon. The gains are pretty good with all the mods added we are around 350 flywheel bhp which is preety good on a car with just bolt ons, I still have a Motordyne Inlet manifold to try which again gains midrange torque and I want to try the car without any cats fitted.

dont even bother with the spacers, I will sort the CEL problem out when I do the Uprev. The fluid isn't low fromt he picture you posted and yes we use ATE blue fluid, best brake fluid on the market , people will say Castrol SRF is the best but is for race cars so needs changing very often due to it's hydrascopic tendencies ( ie it tendency to absorb water which lowers brake fluid boiling temp) I have used ATE brake fluid a lot during my motor racing time at Le Mans , Daytone etc etc so it's pretty good stuff and it's blue in colour so you know you have had your fluid changed Sounds like the car has another problem some to do with traction or EPS problem, we can look into this when we see you in the New Year. remember is is dead end rail system, so uses all the fuel at the rail.

90 ltr's per minute @ 3 bar. rubbish I know.
-
Have you driven through or over any snow/ice? the rear sensors seem to not like being cooled quickly, this causes them to read cold , this will throw a CEL. Does you scan toll tell you how many starts ago it threw the CEL? Mark

We find removing the front cats , fitting Y pipe with race cat and y pipe back systems work real well.

Who has converted there Z to coilover rears?
Mark@Abbey m/s replied to Polo's topic in 350Z Technical
It could but now you told us the whole story , yes your have no hassle running a coil over on your car. good luck. Mark
