Isnt James B car a 350Z?
-
Hi Guys n Grils , we can now tweak the 370Z throttle maps. So we can give the 370 car a little help in the throttle response just like w ehave been giving the 350z cars overthe lat year or so. We have tuned over a 100 350z car's so far with the Uprev system.

Sounds like a faulty Air flow meter to me.

Our times over the weekend 22nd April 7.5975 @ 171mph ( misfire) 9.9446 @ 99mph massive tyre shake 23rd April 6.7761 @ 203.9mph 7.0663 @ 191.29 mph took off to the left after launch big pedal mid track 24th April 6.8158 @ 203.7 6.8017 @ 204.17 6.8376 @ 195.38 all these 3 runs are within a 100 sec to the 1/8 1000ft 25th April 7.8836 @ 127 other car broke at 60ft in Eliminations so JB got off the gas. 6.8049 @ 198 looking at the logging we was 0.2 quicker to the 1000ft So we have backed up the 6.77 @ 203 mph , offically the fastest Japanese car in Europe now, with an engine that started out from a 350Z road car. Next meeting is the 17/18th May it is a HKS round , mainly running on the Sunday , we will struggle with not such a good track thou. thanks -

6.77 @203 mph. nice steady drive down the strip , 1.03 to the sixty ft. Nice safe engine tune nothing banzai. need to back this one up 1st. Just need to get some consistence in the car then we will start pushing the car a little more. This time would of put us in 3rd place in the qualifying in the Pro mod class here this weekend. Not bad for a 3.5 ltr motor. -
HR torque curve is far better than a DE. The Rev up motor is the poor relation in torque output. HR runs the same final drive ratio , just the extra revs it can pulls makes the car feel longer legged and the torque curve is far flatter than the DE motor. Inlet plenum on a HR is pretty good never seen anyone make any plenum that is better than the stock twin entry plenum. The stock airboxes we find work best for bhp/torque output , Stillens/Nismo's make great noise but lose bhp due to heat soak. HR motor is a nice piece of kit , get a Uprev tune to sort the silly low AFR's out and your have a sweet motor. But they do turbo charge very well , stock motor will take around 450bhp without even beinging stripped down. Mark

Motordyne deliver next week , XYZ Y pipes (race cated , resonated and De-cated in stock) and both styles of ART pipes on the delivery. Also SPL rear compression bushes back in stock after a few months on back order.

I have seen some dyno graphs of cars fitted with cams , the rev up ca rwill give some good gains fitted with cams but your need a good set of headers to go with it and your need to rev the car hard. I my opinon as fitting cams is a expensive job they dont give a good enought gain to be worth while. But if you have the motor out for a rebuild build it with higher compression, fit some cams and the car will give good gains with supporting other mods and a good map.

Ian, It doesnt work backwards like you have work it out. The cars have a fixed loss + a small % due to bhp increase. I am saying the stock car we run had 247bhp at the hubs - this from Nissan figure of 296bhp= 49 bhp loss. Your car had 263bhp at the hubs + 49 bhp lose = 312bhp. so a gain of of 16bhp. we are taking no infulence from a possible small % increase due to BHP increase thou. But your get the idea I am sure.
-
Personally % add on doesnt work , as would the car only have 17bhp loss if it had 100 bhp at the hubs and 117bhp loss if it had 1000 bhp at the hubs? I feel the car will lose a certain amount + a very small % as the bhp rise due to friction losses , this has been discussed time and time again on a lot of forums. Treat the dyno as a tool before and after bhp all that counts. Abbey quote 35BHP loss from the hubs to the engine which we feel is conservative but gives a resonable guess at flywheel bhp. Wasso,s car has gained 16 hub bhp from a totally stock car but the biggest gain is the torque it has gained a huge 25lb/ft max from a totally stock car but it has gain 15lb/ft at 3000rpm and the same at 6000rpm. So we could say Wasso car, if we take a stock car which gave 247 bhp at the hubs so this car could have a loss of 49bhp if we take the flywheel bhp as 296bhp, Wasso car had 263 hub bhp + 49bhp loss equals 312bhp flywheel bhp. A tottly stock car gives 247bh hub , Wass's tuned car gives 263bhp it has a gain of 16bhp which isnt bad on a N/A still with a cat fitted. Maybe worth trying the car without a cat fitted we may end up with a 20+bhp gain so nearly 320 flywheel bhp. If people are willing to wait I will lay a totally stock Rev Up 350Z dyno plot over Josh and Wasso finished dyno plots next week when I am back from this weekend Santa Pod drag meeting. We can then see the gains from a totally stock car of Wasso's and Josh's car. hope this all helps. Mark

Turbo,s mmmm ye sthe way to go but big bucks as Alex will tell you......but awesome power/torque gains. Josh. maybe remove the cats , nice exhaust system including Y pipe and a little tune with the Uprev system on the stock ECU on the dyno and we will see a few more BHP/TORQUE. 320bhp flywheel isnt easy thou. we will need to get inside the motor to get a few more BHP/Torque. Next week I will sort out the dyno plots from Mr Lizards Rev Up motor that we have tuned agaisnt your dyno plots. Re BHP remember the dyno is a tool dont worry about the final number just the gains before and after the tune thats what matters. any questions ask away.

The front 2 cylinder are the ones that are restricted , so being thinner at the front is not good. Motordyne are the best and we carry them in stock. £180-00 inc vat and e will ship them free of charge.
-
Hi, thanks for the mention of our name. Yes you really need to do both head gaskets and as Alex says motor out job , the both parts of front cover's need to come off to get the heads off and you need to remove the sump to get the front covers off. I can price the job for you or we can fit a good S/H engine , either way we can sort a price ( I do have a good S/H engine in stock as well) Give me a email mark@abbeymotorsport.co.uk and we can discuss Mark

Tuning the 350Z to use unleaded fuel
Mark@Abbey m/s replied to Mark@Abbey m/s's topic in Abbey Motorsport
The car will default to the HIGH detonation map on part throttle but at full throttle there isnt any detonation controlif you fill with UNLEADED fuel. Working on get my UK car back to totally stock then providing a map for UK unleaded fuel. I hope to be able to provide a postal service for this service on DE (276bhp) car. Send me the email I will upload the map and send the ECU back. Car will need to be totally stock thou for this to work. -
I have said it before the gain from fitting headers isn't worth the time/money spent. It is a 6 hour job at the minimum we have found even on a ramp with all the right tools. The bolts aren't nice to get to and they are nromally very tight. The last set I did we had the gearbox out that helped a lot. Mark

Drove my Zed for the last time today........
Mark@Abbey m/s replied to glrnet's topic in 350Z Technical
They are all like that after a few miles. Nothing to worry about I would say. -
He changed both the tie rods (track rods ) ends already. I think the car need to be on a whel on ramp and the steering wobbled while ther eis loa don the wheels , you should be able to feel any play in the suspension. Have you had the car 4 wheel aligned since you fitted all the suspension items? I have had cars wrongly tracked and they feel horrible when driven on the road.
-
Hi , yes we have tuned a few 296bhp cars , they all run lower than what Nissan claim we have found. But the mods you have done so far have given the normal gains , but I feel you car needs a Y pipe at least get the more mid range gains that I feel you car is still lacking. Race cats will help as well , but the alloy pullies I feel are a waste of time. I have issues with removing the stock front pulley and engine balancing issues. I will look at the PM and get back to you. Mark

welcome , thats looks a nice car , enjoy it. Mark -
have a read of this thread. We have currently tuned over 60+ 350Z with the Uprev sysyem on our own in house dyno.
-
Send me one then once you have it domne I can try it in my UK car.
-
The 296bhp cars never give 296bhp we have found while we have been tuning the cars. They are always approx 20bhp down when totally stock. Just use the dyno as a before and after tool , the car gain a good chunk of torque after the car was remapped, the before run is with all the parts added with the STOCK map the after is the same items plus a UPREV remap. Remember all dyno,s read different so dont compare another dyno to our dyno just use the same dyno to compare gains.
