  1. So in reading this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom_Alternative_Vote_referendum,_2011 it makes you feel sad that due to the pathetic nature of our politics and media, and the lack of enthusiasm from the voting public, nothing will ever change. If you scroll down to the "Campaign Positions" section, you can see that we dragged our two party system problems right into the referendum for electoral reform, which quite frankly is retarded. It's one of those things I wish they'd just implement and not need to get a vote on (how democratic of me huh /s), the numbers work, it's proven, the end.
  2. 36.9% voted Conservative. Majority rules huh. To clarify, I'm not pro this party that party, I simply would like it to represent the nations interests, not 1/3rd of them.
  3. It's not like we actually democratically elected the current government... What do you expect, you need to push for electoral reform and stop complaining about effect of it being currently ****ed. Fix it at the source instead of sticking plasters all over the symptoms. Here: And this is the alternative system style:
  4. Ahh yes! I'd seen them mentioned here and there, I went scouring their website and that's what I'm basing my professional cost on as their work seems top notch!
  5. no idea who that is. I've spoken again with the mrs. Apparently she said; she'd be up for it because she thought that I thought that she'd be up for it. no wait; she thought that I wanted to do it and that I thought that she thought... **** it, no idea, she doesn't really want to do it apparently. But she'd help if I did try, although it'd be better if we paid someone to not **** it up like I might. God my brain hurts.
  6. So are you doing this as a money making exercise?
  7. Just had a nosey round https://www.facebook.com/forflockssake/ Definitely thinking of going for that for certain parts around the interior to cover the 20 year old plastics! Problem with the leather retrim is that you have to get a professional to do it, and it ain't cheap. If you find it cheap, then it will probably look like poop. You can't really do leather yourself easily as you need a beefy sewing machine for it that most don't have access to. The mrs is really wanting to give it a go though, I said she should hand stitch it after punching 5000 holes first, she didn't seem put off... I'm a perfectionist so if it was even a little bit off, it'd bug me forever.
  8. Did you get your car retrimmed or was it leather from stock? If you got it done, do you mind me asking how much you paid for it?
  9. Thanks for the info, yeah a catch can seems to be the general consensus from people I've asked. When I get her running a bit more (new battery needed) I can inspect it closer to see where it's coming from and going to.
  10. Yarp, been a busy bee sadly, but I've changed jobs again and I have a lovely big corner desk with a window. One monitor faces the wall, thus...
  11. One of the highest upvoted posts on reddit is "Test post please ignore"
  12. http://www.spaldingfasteners.co.uk/metric-stainless-extra-thick-flat-construction-washers-m10-to-m20/ Something like that?
  13. The Stagea, Q50 and Q70 use the same FM platform... so technically you could say the 350/370Z is an estate or an SUV underneath. Indeed, it just shows that it's not purpose built like, say an S2000 is as a 2 seat sports car. Likely explains the weight!
  14. Yeah, so they had the 4 seater design and somewhere down the line converted it into a 2 seater, the 350z is a 4 seater design at heart that's been modified. It wasn't initially designed to have 2 seats or a much stiffness as it currently does.
  15. Interesting idea, I might look into that then. I actually put my go pro in the engine bay to see how bad it was, it nicely gave it a blurry coating of oil after one dump.
  16. Got my rattle cans ready! I was thinking 3k really, didn't think it'd be more though The paint is pretty fuggered though, so I may need to factor that in then.
  17. Brand new turbo refurb, refurbed twice within 500 miles actually as the oil pressure regulator went right after the first one Should rule that out really.
  18. Thought I'd share my excitement The GT4 has been sat SORN'd on the driveway for over a year now, she didn't get started for a long period, battery died and then... Well I didn't have the time to get her started up until now. The little fiesta had to jump start her but to my amazement, she started on the first turn. She tapped a bit for the first 30 seconds but quietened down nicely after that. We left her running for a good while, cleaned the mould off the seats (yeah I know!) and moved her about. The brakes weren't seized as far as I can tell, the tires were only down to 27PSI but the rust is feckin bad. Rear arch is on it's way to being dust and we already knew it needed cut out a year ago The plan as it stands in no particular order is: Respray in candy apple red carbon accents here and there find the source of the damn oil leak that sprays oil out the BoV new Bov fluid changes brake strip clean and rebuild rear arch cut out and welded back in interior stripped and retrimmed centre console stripped and redesigned Hevac rerouted around new console design crappy boot plastics remade (maybe in aluminium depending on how adventurous I feel). Boot lifters replaced boot lock replaced bonnet vent repainted new tyres (maybe? can tyres sit for a year and still be ok?) New exhaust (Not a fan of the nur spec really) with bypass valve Turbo timer removed, or got working... (I never trust the damn thing to turn off if i walk away) New steering wheel Flocked dash Wiper blades Cry quietly about how much it all cost Bushings... everywhere MoT Tax Enjoy oh, ABS sensors too and seat belt spring return thing is crap and needs replaced. window seals leak a little too aerial hole filled in Battery Fuel cap cover hinge replace Wonder if I missed anything there... figuring out costs... These are complete guesses with no foundation whatsoever, lets see how it compares when I'm done. :'( If you have a suggestion for how much something will cost let me know.
  19. Time for some wild speculation on the origins of the 350z. I was considering the 350z design choices and why certain parts are the way they are, I've been considering the way automatoive manufacturers change the directrion of vehicles as they are designed; the resulting vehicle may not be what was originally planned out. The engine strut brace: This guy is clearly an add on at a later stage. To comply with pedestrian impact regulations, the brace has to be a certain gap from the bonnet, it also has to be a distance from the engine to not collide. In order to squeeze it in the gap and retain the thickness needed for the correct stiffness, the front of the plenum had to be lowered, slightly starving the front cylinders. This is how we know it was a late decision. So at some point, someone decided that the car was sloppy enough that losing a small amount of power was worth the stiffness. Also bear in mind that the bar isn't a light weight item; adding that much weight to the vehicle especially higher up is a big deal. Rear strut brace. The big huge bit that gets in the way of you transporting your golf bags. They dressed it up to look pretty, but I really think this is a later addition. Again, they needed the stiffness and the original chassis didn't have what they wanted. The decision was made to whack this big thing across there to stiffen it up. The massive empty space. Behind the seats there are some cavernous holes, it's a massive space just going to waste that seems an odd thing to add in, again I think this is something that came later after a redesign. Infiniti G35 coupe. This guy is a 350z with rear seats and this is what I believe the 350z was originally destined to be: A 4 seat, 3.5L sporty coupe. So my theory is that the original design intent was that it would be the 4 seat vehicle, after the chassis had been designed and they got quite far down the line in design, they made a hard call that a sporty 2 seater would be a better sell. Perhaps this decision was lead by competitors, it usually is. At this stage they didn't want to scrap the 4 seat version they had already worked on, so they moved it to their sister company, Infiniti. They then took the car out and figured out what would be needed to make it sporty enough to compete in the 2 seater market. They removed the back seats, added metal across where they were, they then added a big strut brace across the back and the engine strut brace across the front. They removed the big plastic engine cover the G35 has and left the plenum bare with a minimal engine dress so they could fit the brace. TL;DR: I think the 350z was originally going to be a 4 seater, a late design change split into the G35 coupe and the 350z, 4 and 2 seaters respectively.
  20. Should probably take a look at price vs quality of headphones before splashing the cash on beats ERM... to keep it on topic. A little known fact is.... Ah! Yes, the boot bulb wiring can be back to front (red for negative black for positive) on some cars, high quality electrical system!
  21. Some studious person could collate all the facts into a table, then get it mod edited into the first post. Good luck with that
  22. Could be true, the JDM exhaust is far quieter than the UK.
  23. That's odd. I had to dig around for some old reference pics, these show the speedo dismantled. And now that I'm looking at it something comes to mind... This does sound kind of familiar and now. The white ribbon cable, it's a bitch to push the connector home, AND it's really fragile, I think in the past there were a few people who damaged it and had issues. The reason I posted the picture is to note that there is a micro on the board. You are getting power to the speedo, you are showing something, it's just jumbled rubbish which is really odd. You'd think the micro is taking care of the conversion from CAN signal to number output on the display so why would it be possible to show a junk display. That is unless the micro does not take care of the display, and in-fact it comes direct wired from elsewhere, such as the glorious white box. Forgive me for thinking out loud. EDIT: Actually... My memory on this is rusty and i'm thinking the white cable actually goes to the heater controls, so it's going to be another cable, connection. If you damage the white ribbon cable the heaters go mental (full blast hot). EDIT2: On more reading, I'm thinking the white box is the AC control box... It's been so long it's hard to remember in my old age
  24. If I remember correctly (it has been some years) the white box runs part of your speedo. You likely haven't pushed one of the connectors all the way home.
