  1. Looks good - how does a show car get in that state? 19 hours = nice invoice!
  2. That looks like a nice job Paul. Not tried the Zaino clay - how's it compare to Swissvax Paint Rubber?
  3. Well it won't buy this that's for sure... Aston Martin Vanquish S Ultimate 50 But it will buy this... Nasty! This car was fully corrected over 3 days last summer and was maintained mint by me since then. Sadly the guy who owns it took it off the road and was landed with a £39k repair bill (£35k without Gordons bit) - eye-watering! Unfortunately the very prestigious bodyshop that repaired her managed to scratch the whole car in this way - and I do mean every panel. Thus another long session was organised and she was restored to her former glory - before/after OSR flank as example. The owner managed to retrieve the cost of the detail from the bodyshop as we were able to provide invoice and photos of the original detail and to be fair to them they took it on the chin without complaint. NB: the bodyshop manager said the scratches were inflicted by one of his guys with a buffer!!! Totally the wrong scratch format for that but hey-ho. Moral of the story is: keep your correction photos + invoices if you use a detailer to care for your car. It could be a life-saver one day.
  4. Thanks for the welcome everyone. Not supposed to be on here right now as we have a weeks holiday and I am supposed to be gardening - deep joy!
  5. Without doing a whole hog wash it is probably still best to get your PW out. Auto Rae Chem sell a product called Brite Wheels - don't worry about the name I've not gone mad - it cleans wheels for sure but is also a killer bug shifter. Wet bugged area - spray on Brite Wheels - leave a few mins but do not allow to dry - then PW off. Product is wax freindly and you won't even need to get your mitt out. Bug wipes are a poor product as insects have some pretty hard (albeit small) body parts that can scratch paint.
  6. What a great result! Have you tried Swissvax Pneu on your tyres - gives a nice natural look if you want a chage from glossy. Re: wheel cleaner. Best I've used is ValetPRO Bilberry - very effective cleaner + totally safe too. Will also work out cheaper long term than the product you are using now. Great colour on your car btw!
  7. Hi Tim Yup I'm a bit slow in my old age! Was good to see you - bit of a surprise. Let me know when you are coming in Sept - or save yourself a trip and let me do them!
  8. Try Duragloss Nu Glass - best product we've ever used for removing tricky glass marks. Will even remove TFR streaks from your freindly dealer courtesy valet!
  9. Back to the OP - re: pre-wax glaze. Much underated product and very underused in the UK. Much more common Stateside. We use this on cars where we have not corrected the paint or carried out light correction - it fills minor/remaining swirls and adds depth to the final shine esp' on dark coloured cars. We use 3M Hand Glaze - easy on and easy off. *** Re: wax choice - if you are looking for a decent shine and durability try Collinite Insulator Wax. Semi-liquid and if applied correctly ie thin, comes off a treat and stays put for 4-6 months. We use this as our default wax in our mainstream valeting range. If it can survive a Cumbrian winter it can survive just about anything!
  10. Thanks - you are indeed freindly! Forgot to mention - Martin had a stab at some Flex work yesterday. He was a natural; adopted a really nice squat (doesn't bear thinking about really does it) and a lovely smooth sweeping action to boot. Did a neat job on the rump end of his Z.
  11. Hello everyone - forum looks good, sounds freindly too! Have ended up here following a detail of martinmacs Z - nice car! I'm Nick Laurie and own Clenz Ltd valeters & detailers operating out of Kendal in the lovely Lake District for the past 4 years. Our website pretty much explains what we do. What it doesn't explain is that I do this due to a mid-life crisis! My wife and I had really good corporate jobs but one day we realised that the stresses of 24/7 careers make for a miserable life! We spent a few years clearing our debts and now do what we love - I look after great cars and my wife has a part time job that she really loves. Both on & off forums we are always available to give advice to anyone interested in the care of their car. Thanks for the invite Martin and I'll do my best to help out in the section that I have expertise in - no way am I going near the Z nuts & bolts sections though! I can detail them but how they work is a mystery to me! Cheers all.
