Doogy's Little Build Project - Now Complete - Page 9
Fodder replied to DoogyRev's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Had a dream last night about buying every snap on tool there was and then having to sort it all out into a tool box. Sorry I misread snap on for strap on then.... I think it's because I expect you to lower the tone a little Good work on the tool box, I may post a picture of mine later..... Don't get too excited its made of best corrugated cardboard and is full of tools which are usually used for jobs they were never designed for -
I actually googled it and found the huffing ton post article http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mobileweb/2013/04/09/congressional-hearing-on-extraterrestrials_n_3037699.html And a quote: Don't worry, taxpayers, this isn't an official meeting at the public's expense. But it's meant to focus public opinion.

40 people over 30 hours on 5 days sounds like half a working week of conference calls to me I'm sorry but I'm very sceptical about the true value of something like this.... That is if it is in fact for real
-
I'd say some of the items in the pic aren't as old as 1993, the laptop for example is far too slimline and I'd say late 90's

I'm sure my other half's handbag is actually a mobile convenience store with the emergency chocolate and medical supplies

Thought so; it was a while ago i read the first half of the thread but it's always worth bringing it up as it's things like that which will catch people out. I'm pretty envious of your trip, looking forward to seeing pictures and video's

Hey no worries, I appreciate the response.. to be honest i didnt really expect anyone to as anyone in the area would probably have recommended them anyway. Well i've bitten the bullet and booked in with them and in fairness this time they have said due to the day I want that the times do slip so cant say fairer than that. Looking forward to getting it set up and having a drive over the hills this weekend - weather permitting of course I will feed back on how i got on.

Sort of correct, they need to be in the cabin along with a number of other stuff. The AA website has a good guide on this but I'm pretty certain Ekona covered it earlier in the thread

Bad driving as far as I can see. The other thing to remember about these roads is the fact that what you may think is a clear flat road has in fact a hidden dip and possibly a car or animal or even standing water running off the hill. the road from Bala to Llandegla had such an issue last year, trail of traffic with drivers treating the road with respect but had a tool of a bike come flying around me and others around a corner which he thought was sighted only to find a feck off big distressed bull in the road. He must have missed it by inches and lost a lot of weight. Morale of the story when driving on any of these roads treat them with respect. ive never done the E T as a whole bit I have driven some of the roads and we are so lucky having the fantastic vistas on our doorstep

Yedah I realise Demon's do this however as mentioned in my post I've had mixed experience with their workshop so I was looking for somewhere else locally. To be fair they've been ok work wise the couple of occassions i've used them (small minor jobs - new wheels etc) but i'e found their service times haphazard whereby they seem to book more jobs than they're capable for at the same time and for a 30 minute job which i booked in at lunchtime i ended up being there 3 hours with a very unhappy manager back at work which i know is usual for garages but when you explicitly tell them you're short on time and using up your lunch hour you would think they would either accomodate or tell you it's not possible rather than book you in and then have you "trapped" but if you can tell me theyve improved i'll feel more confortable. http://www.alignmycar.co.uk/ lists by town Hunter systems but apart from Buckley Tyre services and Demon's I have no experience of any of them. If folks do I'd be itnerested to know if they've used their services. I suspect i will probably have to use Demon Tweeks though as I'd like to resolve this in the next couple of days. I rarely drive the car in the week at the minute so I want it sorted for the weekend. Thanks for looking

You must have gone through Luxembourg I assume... (fuel for a fill up in far cheaper than the rest of surrounding Europe) - currently about 15p a litre cheaper for Super Unleaded As for the best fuel economy, it's always best to grab a beer, take a seat in the garden and just admire your Zed... so you still get to enjoy it Not sure I understand..... Chester (NW England) to Edinburgh (SE Scotland) as cheap as the fuel is that wouldn't be as economical. My post was to highlight the fact there are better roads than all motorway

Anyone got any recommendagtions for places with Hunter alignment systems in Chester/Wrexham area? I've had to replace all 4 tyres yesterday, the rears were worn evenly and i had actually booked it in for them however the fronts had excessive uneven wear on the inner edge both sides almsot like someone had taken a lathe to them - the rest of the tyre was wearing evenly and had plenty of meat left. The fitter suspected camber and said i need to put it on a Hunter system - he doesnt have one and suggested Demon Tweeks (the fitter is a small independant and owned/run by a good friends father in law). I've used Demon's for other stuff in the past and if i could i'd sooner use someone else as they can be hit and miss; I have also used Buckley Tyre services a couple of years back but wasnt sure if they knew the cars too well as well as not getting any printouts - that said if others have had better experience since i will give them another try The other local one is QR Sport in Tattenhall who seem to be Audi specialists but again I'd like to hear if people have any experience taking their Z there. I did do a search on here and I also looked at http://www.alignmycar.co.uk and apart from the three i've mentioned there doesnt seem to be anyone reasonably local... oh and i chose to totally dismiss Meseyside Car Hospital

Done Chester to Edinburgh before now, cruise control at 70 on mways then took the scenic route just past Carlisle much better off the mway! I think I averaged around 26mpg there and back but mine is a roadster and had some top down action on the A roads.

I'm sorry but I wish North Korea would put us out of our misery.... Joking obviously but I haven't even played it, I know exactly what it's going to be after Ekona's synopsis - crud lol

Hmmm well it's taken him 7 years to get to this stage so after reading your toolbox thread I reckon this is doable.... Go on you know you want to -

David Braben has secured fundig via kickstarter to develop a new version, just hope it's better than elite frontier or whatever the follow up was called. It maybe the reason why I build myself a computer -
Yep me too but hopefully I have many years of absolute pleasure to look forward to.... And I'm sure a few frustrating moments too

We have had our lab 7 weeks and already it's difficult to remember a time before her. All so true apart from the balls.... Well I guess that is sort of true as she wants to sniff my crotch

This was in my brothers village which is a small farming community, that evening I went for a drink in the local pub and my brother was asked who I was..... I'd been spotted walking around taking pics and they thought I was from their equivalent of HMRC

A few I took in Germany on a walk over the weekend, totally unedited as always On my iPhone so hopefully this worked

sorry we seem to be going somewhat OT but i think it's still relevant. Found another article :http://www.thisismon...ph-20-cost.html Reading that they dont mention the 2015 thing but state the following: The AA website states that if you still have a paper driving licence you don't have to worry about ten yearly updates, though you must still notify DVLA of name or address changes. It also says that parliament has given powers to recall all paper licences so the more secure photo card licences will be held by everyone, but no date has been set for this, and the Government is well aware that it would be controversial to make everyone buy a new licence. The AA has said that if the government insists on everyone changing, it should phase in such a move and subsidise the cost. Keeping the details on your paper licence up to date will ensure that DVLA is able to tell you when this is happening and if you need to do something.
-
Interesting, i didnt pass mine until late 90's and they only offered the new 2 part license in fact i think i passed the first year they were introduced. I dont believe they offered an alternative but i think the wording is probably a journalistic error... i know it;s highly improbable a journalist could make such a mistake And as always the DVLA website is as useful as a chocolate teapot. Anyway, £20 every 10 years seems cheap compared to the rip off for your passport
-
Well they haven't issued "new" paper licenses for 15 years...... I passed my test relatively old and I only had the option of the new style 2 part.... It's not like a government agency to lead to confusion is it ?!
-
Just checked you are fine until 2015 when they do become compulsory http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/business-20968886 On my phone otherwise I'd check th dvla website more thoroughly.
