Thanks will order that book and ask I'm the local shop. I think I'll book it in for a service and the couple of items I need checking. Oh and I only noticed before the thread title now has "awful kind"

Hi all, A quick question surrounding maintenance. I'm based in Chester and would like to learn more about the fundamentals of looking after the bike etc. Anyone got any recommendations of courses etc local to me? It's due a service, i need the gears setting up and also the fork lockout needs fixing which i think i should be doing myself if possible. It's a Specialized Hardrock Sport 29er if that helps. Mainly used on moderate trails, cycle paths and roads.

I think the answers subjective. I'd agree with Ekona and go try as many as you can. I may be wrong by saying this but also consider fitment and any modifications to get them to fit, be in the correct position and fulfill any safety regulations.

Grand Theft Auto V & Online game - Spoiler ALERT !!!!
Fodder replied to mattross1313's topic in Off Topic Discussion
I'm in turmoil to be honest. I love the look of it and am a bit of a fan however it comes out a month before next gen and I get the feeling wait 6 months and they will release on the new platforms. Hmmm mind you it's less than a night on the pop.... I just won't have the space for old and new gen to co exist. See the turmoil and justification going on in my mind Now if only there was a new red dead on the horizon -
You know I got pretty pi**ed at this thread very early on. My sister was born with spinabifida as well as other ailments. Her mobility allowance was used by my parents to transport her to hospitals, schooling and trying to make her life as normal as possible. She was bridesmaid to my aunt and she went through months of pain and discomfort to walk down the aisle with the aid of calipers. She never asked for the disability but then she never wanted help. She was too proud, my parents needed the help. Her life expectancy far exceeded those of her peers with similar disabilities so she must seem a huge drain on society to some of you. My parents divorced and as my mother couldn't drive so she had to use taxis. When I passed my test I refused to carry a blue badge even though I transported her wherever and whenever she needed me to. The mobility allowance was hers to try and give her as normal life as possible. She passed away 7 years ago now so we don't have to worry about that drain. I myself nearly lost a foot at 17, I've since had it fused and was told I should just get a an auto license and I could also be registered disabled. I refused as I had a great role model in my sister. I passed my test in a manual and have always driven a manual. I struggle with the clutch and they never last as long as they should because of the limited movement. My point is not everyone wants to take that cash, some have no choice and some seek it. If your "buddy" is the latter repor him, don't tolerate it and certainly don't botch about it without acting with the relavant authorities. The above was written freehand on a phone so apologies for any typos or grammar mistakes. Oh and you probably wouldn't realise I could technically be registered disabled if you ever met me.

Warning over 'flash-for-cash' car accident insurance scam
Fodder replied to Adrian@TORQEN's topic in Off Topic Discussion
The videos people post don't show to the left or right though. I'd also be interested what the law would state as I'm sure the Highway Code still puts the onus on the driver pulling out EDIT: the article itself highlights the fact that you are not to assume its inviting you to proceed but in fact to alert you to the fact they are present. Just genuinely interested in people's thoughts on the whole camera situation. I personally think its leading us down a dangerous road (apologies for the pun) -
Warning over 'flash-for-cash' car accident insurance scam
Fodder replied to Adrian@TORQEN's topic in Off Topic Discussion
How will that help when you are flashed from the side to be let out at a junction? -
I guess a window costs a lot more than £1 And refraction wouldn't occur....... Simple but genius idea, saw this on tv I though a year or so ago but it can't have been that long ago.

Mr Ricey. Laura just had to pay a one off £15 admin fee to change the mortgage over. She has since renewed the mortgage and got a better deal so it's not always a negative. The landlords insurance was less than £100 for the year, again not as bad as you would think. For the peace of mind I think it's the way to go to cover all bases as Mr Sandwich has pointed out.
-
Was just going to add that. We were only charged an admin fee by the mortgage company and the insurance wasn't actually as expensive as we thought. You also need to meet the gas, electricity and fire requirements/certification. I'm sure you will have considered all of this already as well as a tenancy agreement.
-
Depends what clientele you're after. We rent my partners apartment out and actually got the tenant by posting it on her Facebook page. If you want a professional type you will most likely have to go through a management company though. Other options are if you have friends/relatives working in large office buildings get then to place an ad on the internal notice boards. Good luck

Delete this thread and move is the best advice I can give... Failing that Doogy's suggestion would be the alternative.

the price of Peroni you would think Robin did too! Bl00dy phone I'm pretty level headed but it was weird.

So I'm pretty sceptical to be fair however a couple of years back I was in quite an old pub in chester with a few friends from work We were all sat around a round table when my pint slid across the table towards me, I held out my hand ready to catch but before it got to the edge it began to tip over. I caught it just as it started to spill. I laughed but a couple of people had seen it too and couldn't explain it. I put it down to a wet bottom of the glass (fresh pint) The next round I asked the batman if anything strange had ever happened and he said in the room we were in there were stories of a little girl pouring drinks over men and smashing glasses. I have put this down as just one of those things and the bar staff making up stories to help bring custom in. The name of the pub is the custom house on watergate street in chester if any of the locals have heard similar. I also have a memory from my childhood but I'm not sure if that's my memory playing tricks or not.

Yep, my Zed interior was basically knackered after 112k and 8 years Did you put that in the ad On a serious note the Porsche cars I've been in (not many) have all been very functional and as others have said the touch and feel is a different level.

The 5th is an uplink port and you should daisy through that Edit. He beat me to it

I can't recommend any lights of that type but just some observations. Make sure you don't blind other motorists if you're going to be fitting lights that bright. I got blinded by an idiot aiming them straight ahead a year or two back I have my lights on pretty much anytime I cycle on a road or next to one day or night for safety. Also look into investing in a breathable reflective/fluorescent jacket too. Sounds like you need one on the roads you cycle. Oh and don't drink too much at the pub as you can still be charged Sorry I couldn't help with choice of light. Enjoy

My partner and had to switch the news off the other evening. I just couldn't listen or watch. It seems everyone who could have intervened failed or failed up to follow up on their concerns. I did partially watch an interview with the boys father and the sad thing was he wanted custody and would have happily given him a caring home back in Poland. Not an ounce of positive in this at all

Hassan I can't comment on the bike myself but have you read the T&C'S at halfords? I know a lot of places limit the discount to one deal only so for example they may only accept the 10% off the full RRP and not the short term sale price if you see what I mean. Like you I've been following this thread for months too and I've been using my bike in a similar fashion to you to try and get fit then tackle the more adventurous trails one i have a level of fitness and ability. I have a specialised hard rock 29er through my companies cycle to work scheme. If may be worth you also looking into your companies scheme?

As far as I know the amber to red is timed to the speed limit so if you're still doing a 30 in a 50 and go through a red you're likely to get t boned. Just had my zed written off in a very slow accident where someone didn't stop at a T junction by an Evoque. Imagine a 38 ton wagon going through a red doing 30
-
That's my point, you should be reducing your speed when approaching traffic signals. Looking at the Highway Code you must stop behind the solid white line unless the signal is green. If the amber light appears you may go on only if you have already crossed the stop line or are so close to it that to stop might cause a collision. Edited as stupid phone replaced amber with bee!?!
-
I was always taught amber meant you were to stop as red is imminent and there is no real excuse for saying "I couldn't stop in time" as you are meant to be ready to stop at such junctions at any time by reducing your speed etc etc That said in real world amber seems to be a signal to speed up so you don't get stuck at a red light - I believe we are all a little guilty of this.
