  1. Yeah I thought that, some really stupid professions on there. It's nothing too important, I'll tell her she will need to find someone else to sign - But I think it's a bit stupid with the occupation requirement as you need to know the person for min 2 years before signing - What if she doesn't know any of the above ? Most people in the uk will know either: A doctor, dentist or optician Although this is true, do you really think a doctor is going to go to court with you to sign some document? Personally I think these lists are pathetic, especially when travel agent is one it. I think you've missed the point of the form. It's so you DON'T have to go to court... Yup, missed that I still stand by the fact that the whole thing is stupid. I've heard of people going to their MP to get these things signed, but surely the fact that you can pay someone you don't know to sign it, invalidates the whole procedure? Yep it's an old process that relies on professional people being upstanding trustworthy citizens who would do everything by the law..... Like MP's.... Wonder if they witnessed each other's expense claims
  2. It's still the same then.I remember it being like that way back. Do they still have to have a vote about whether to have a vote about the vote "on the change to bla, bla, bla". (this happened in a union do I was at in the late 70's) And a meeting about the meeting they want have a meeting about. I believe so, fortunately I don't have the need to be in a union so have no first hand experience. I know a few who work at a local very large aeronautical company and that does seem to be the case.
  3. I've witnessed documents before as an "IT Consultant" but there hasn't been a list of approved professions when I've done it. Doctor or dentist I'd say is her best bet as has already been stated. Oh Kyle the point of the witness is so the document can be signed away from officials such as court registrars etc. Also I find very odd "union official" is on there.... It's always those guys bringing industry to its knees and anyone I know who is in a union always complains their representative is in it for themselves not who they represent.
  4. You've just got me a written warning... Apparently a pink tutu is against the office dress code
  5. Now I feel old, 89?! Mind you adults born in the 90's really make me feel old I left school in '85 Old git..... I left school in 90 hence my statement I started feeling old when I realised footballers younger than me were retiring
  6. Last note, there is no evidence (at this point) that the poppy attack was a hate crime. There is in this one. Peoples views on the poppy incident made it a hate crime and it is easy to jump to that conclusion at times even with zero evidence. Whichever way that is a particularly horrible attack regardless of the who the victim was. Several posters have stated that for this one we are only getting one side of the story and that's very important however as the "attackers" ran off when passers by intervened you can only make one conclusion due to information presented to them. The press have a lot to answer for in the way crime is reported but they aren't stupid, a single word can change the whole story from a page 8 story into a front page one.
  7. I think Stevo is suggesting there are double standards. I kind of understand what you mean but as I said earlier in the thread what is being reported in the poppy case makes no mention of any kind of discriminatory language or gestures being used whereas this incident does. As I also said my issue with the other thread was down to the OP's suggestion that the attacker and his family should be deported, we don't know the background of him or his family his family aren't as far as we are aware implicated at all. So if you are trying to get at me having double standards you are way off the mark. You know I think we would get along debating stuff over a pint just written word on a forum doesn't get your meaning over fully
  8. Passers by intervened and they ran away. Why would you do that if you were a victim? Keith the poppy seller thread my issue was with the OP's suggestion it was religious motivated and that the attacker AND HIS FAMILY should be deported. The OP didn't know the background of the attacker or the reason. There was a whole lot of assumption that he and his family were fanatics...
  9. So why aren't the "attackers" stating that? They have disappeared and so they can't give their side of the "debate". What does that tell you?
  10. You need to remember we are reliant on the press reporting facts and not a viewpoint.
  11. but the poppy story doesn't say or suggest religion or anything else was a driver as there was no verbal communication. This story does suggest homophobic language was used.
  12. Let's face it we are all gingerist ( from someone who has recently found out half of his ancestors are "sandy haired"). there is a fine line between description and discrimination when describing someone. I struggle with that too as I work with folks all over the world (as I belive you do) and it's difficult if you don't want to upset anyone but this particular news article seems to suggest it was homophobic.
  13. By the way, I have no issue with you questioning, it's what we all should do when reading news articles
  14. Reportedly, due to the homophobic abuse shouted at the victims. Right just because he called him horrible name doesnt mean it is so the victim might have stolen his phone or thrown a gang sign at him which prompted the attack, we shouldnt jump to conclusion, just the people said with the poppy seller it could be anything just because he called him a horrible name doesnt mean its homophobic attack and untill the persons found we will never know the true reason I disagree if homophobic language was used its most likely that was the driver and its a fair assumption. With the poppy seller there was no interaction (that I've seen with various reports) other than the assault. Very different attacks but both low life scum if what the press print is true. Of course you need to have faith in the press to report hard facts in this country and my faith is dwindling by the day.
  15. Yeah, it stuck at 1% on second attempt. Cancelled hard reset and now installing. Will wait for that to complete before launching and installing the release day update....
  16. Well I succumbed to the CoD bandwagon and bought it. Left it installing for half an hour, came back saw it still installing but said I could play. Launched only to be told it needed an update, selected update and it now won't install. Just says queued. Seems it's an issue. Uninstalled and started the disc install again. Will wait for it to be 100% before launching. Not happy at all
  17. Now I feel old, 89?! Mind you adults born in the 90's really make me feel old
  18. Mine is a shorter version of my Xbox live gamer tag which is my surname followed by fodder, fodder as I'm useless at games and end up being fodder. My gaming name used to be "private pike" which came about when medal of honour allied assault first came about and seemed fitting to the game. Sadly that was already taken so the above was used.
  19. What do you think of the new CoD? Sp and mp Haven't been really interested until a friend posted on FB he's rather enjoying it, he's typically a good indicator of how enjoyable a game is. May take a look over the weekend but with my birthday the end of the month I may tell the OH to get it for me if she sees a bargain.
  20. I didn't realise I'd open up such a can of worms when I asked BBK about it. I genuinely thought it was a moment of frustration but wow. I agree we don't know the motives behind this and I'm sure we all want him to be found and punished accordingly but I didn't think his ethnicity, beliefs or background were relevant unless it's relevant to the legal process. Scum is scum no matter what their background.
  21. I've had the same thought but not just with the presenters but also guests on bbc breakfast etc. I hope they make donations but having them so prominent helps with the publicity
  22. Exactly what went through my mind, hope the lad is okay. +2 Also BBk you want to deport him and his family? Where too... Australia like the good old days? hes most likely British born Edit: I meant to also say his family could well be as horrified about this as the rest of us
  23. Ahh thanks. I'd read somewhere they would stay in place 2 weeks after armistice which I thought was odd unless it's going to take 2 weeks to dismantle. Youth and seniors were out in chester collecting yesterday which is great to see the generations helping each other to raise money and awareness.
  24. And they sold them all too, 888,246. Makes you think hard doesn't it? It's humbling whichever way you see it but the least the generations which follow can do. Lest we forget
