  1. Just read this again and I see what you mean now. As Dan and I said earlier a switch and patch panel somewhere discreet. All your cables from each room run to that. You then run a cable from your home hub to your switches uplink port which will then allow Al devices to communicate with each other and share the external services via the home hub. Speak to Grundy as you need to make sure the switch is of a good enough standard and also you need to consider stuff like DHCP & DNS.... You don't want to be going to your home hub and swapping cables between devices.
  2. Oh and label cables at both ends, on the patch panel and switch. Use a naming convention so you can label short hand. The label can be on the inside of the faceplate if it's on show. You should be able to get a faceplate with an RJ45 connector so you just need a short lead to your device from there. So much tidier when not in use. Edit: example of a faceplate j was talking about. Not sure what you meant by having brushes.... http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/network-and-telecoms-secondary-outlet-zq42v
  3. Nice setup Dan. OP as Dan says you don't need a server for what you have described you need a patch panel and switch. Locate this somewhere out of the way, garage or a utility cupboard like Dan. If you are wanting a server as a repository I'd look at a NAS box with buillt in media server. I considered putting CAT5e in when my house was rewired but decided against it. I just use home plugs for the office/gaming room/CCTV. My OH dad is a spark and he's just put a CCTV system using CAT6. He could've used CAT5e however he can run multiple cameras off one run of CAT6 so he went that route. Leon good shout on the alarm and CCTV. it's usually an after thought for most Good look OP and congrats on your new home
  4. Squee Nismo is gorgeous. We have left training, she never fully graduated but felt it was time to leave for various reasons but mainly as we had diagnosed a hip issue it explained a lot of the issues we were trying to train out of her. That said we are on a scent course with FIDO in a week or so as she seemed to love the last one. Edited as phone decided to change Squee to square
  5. 8.1 in a work environment, interesting.......... there are going to be a few complaints so true, but at least he is going to use 8.1 and not 8. Also Server 2012 is also a pain in the arse as well, again stupid tiles. yeah, concept works well on servers.... That's why the GUI is an add in. There's certain things you can only do in PS which is a PITA too, im a point and click guy to be fair. Need to get my PS skills up to date but at the minute don't need it due to my role. My exchange skills have taken a bit of a backward step because of it but that said I have absolutely no access anyway. Doesn't stop me getting dragged into exchange issues nonetheless though
  6. ahh, Im a SQL Server specialist for Insurance and Financial industry slightly different experience. I thought the same as you Graham, anyone in IT has felt the patch rollback pain Infrastructure engineer here and former MS Exchange specialist in the financial indistry. I've had access to a couple of Windows 10 desktop and server VM's for a while. I much prefer the server over 2012 but reserve my professional judgement at this point as I've not used it in any real anger. Have reserved my personal copy though, won't be installing it straight away mind.
  7. Do t want to know what wood you're touching in your rocker seat Sorry dude couldn't resist. Well done on the ingenuity
  8. Lol i was thinking that................Dont lean backwards in a hurry Do we need a change of name back to his original??? Kudos to the garages
  9. Belated happy birthday sir. Hope you had a good one!
  10. Looking forward to updates about Nismo and his friends! Hope his training went well too
  11. I'm waiting for Keyser to come along, in fact maybe the planners are worried his garage will end up like the one justthejedi posted Mine is a storage unit too that said there's enough floor space for the bbq, my bike and my brewing facilities which consists of a small table with a keg on it going through second phase.... Hopefully have that bad boy demolished over the bank holiday though
  12. Great news Commander. Pets can be very worrying, our pet insurance have been really helpful with our claims I hope yours is too.
  13. All pets are part of the family. We were out walking out lab today and the other half popped into the shop so Hetti and I waited outside. A little girl 7 or 8 freaked out when she saw Hetti.... Keep in mind if Hetti notices anyone looking in her direction she thinks they want to say hello so she gets very interested. Anyway I say to the little girl don't worry I'll keep tight hold, she just wants to say hello as she thinks you're her friend. The little girl gingerly walks past so I say good girl Hetti. To which the girl stops dead in her tracks and asks me what I called her. I explained I was talking to the dog and she said oh my name is Betty so I thought you were talking to me.... It's at this point I notice the girl has a dwarf rabbit in her arms and it becomes very apparent why Hetti wanted to say hello Hetti is a very inquisitive dog, wants to be friends with anything
  14. Commander, I hope Monty has a quick and full recovery. Please let us know how she gets on.
  15. Btw I like quality food but I don't do pretentious so I'll always recommend more down to earth places. I'd love to try some of the Michelin starred places but id feel intimidated. I know that's silly but being relaxed is a big part of enjoying a meal for me.
  16. This has been done before. For me any London Goucho's with the Smithfield one being my fave. That said I've heard Goodmans Haydn mentioned is another level. Biltmore bar and grill in York was good. Wildfire bistro in Edinburgh was really good. Can you see a theme forming... Country pubs I really like the brunning and price chain which do guest ales etc.. Harkers in Chester, corn mill in Llangollen are two I'd recommend. Also the pheasant in burwardsley Cheshire, stunning views and good food.
  17. For you retro gamers.... Tempted myself too http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00DZIX3CQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1431378619&sr=8-1π=AC_SY200_QL40&keywords=retron+5&dpPl=1&dpID=51EXA7TuORL&ref=plSrch
  18. Thanks TS, I'll check the garage temps but it's quite shaded where it is as the side wall faces north and the neighbours extension is about 4ft away. The other side of the garage is attached to the house so it doesn't get a lot of direct sunlight and seems to maintain its temp. I've been trying to keep my first fermentation around 20°c - 22°c which most kits advise. The bins are kept on a table away from walls which I hope will also reduce the temp variance. Good tip about sanitisation and one which my local homebrew shop drilled into me when I first started talking to him. which reminds me, if anyone is thinking of doing this find a local independent home brew shop, they are really helpful and will offer advice... They are usually not far off internet prices for anything you need.
  19. Thanks TS. I use the beer belt I mentioned to try to regulate the temp, seems to work relatively well for first fermentation and for the first few days of the second. I use the garage which in the summer the temp is quite consistent but interesting solution you use there. Do you brew from scratch or using kits? Do you have any tips for either method? Many thanks, looks like there's a few of us at least.
  20. Holmsey fodder. I already have added you Will. I'm on a pad with most driver aids switched off.... I don't know if this will hinder me but I suspect you guys will be far superior anyway. If I'm on and able to I'll join the fun.
  21. Good to know Mudman. I have an apple tree in the garden and we normally have so much spoil I'm thinking I use them for cider. Not tried the Woodfordes yet but I've heard it's awesome. my plan is to stick to ales and ciders. In the process of collecting bottles, have one keg at the minute though. Oh I invested in a "beer belt" too.... No not as in duff man type but one which warms the fermentation bins.
  22. Anyone else brew? I'm new to it but love muntons IPA and just bought a woodfordes wherry kit. I'd like to try brewing from scratch but wouldn't know where to start. If anyone else has any tips please post. Cheers
  23. Sorry Will. I got your invite just as I was finishing up. Hope you had a good game! Am really enjoying the game even with its bugs
  24. Tried option 2 before posting, seems a hard reset of the console works for me. That said charge cable still plugged in so maybe a mixture. Thanks for the tips though Will So had the same issue this morning, no USB charge cable used so did a hard reset; still issues with sound, plugged USB charge cable in and all good. Definitely had to do a hard reset last night for it to work. Think it must be a combination of both. Started to turn off some of the aids and make the opponents stronger.... Really enjoying the formula rookie series with dialling up the difficulty. Cold tyres in fog at snetterton was interesting shall we say
