Aye me too... will try one more time next week
-
I've tried twice but they say I have not met the criteria.... altho I reckon I have both on the photo and post count
-
Anyone interested in buying my Pop charger £65 + p&p ono??
-
cheers guys... I had expected some sort of debate over the 2 cars as the VW has had some good write-ups.... but I was edging towards the S3 anyway.... plus the guy selling it lives 2 miles away
-
Hey guys, what do people think... should I go for a Golf GTI Ed 30 or an S3... both of which I will probably have remapped... so the real difference will be 4wd v 2wd... and the quality / price comparison... thoughts much appreaciated
-
Well people today was the day that had to come... given the price of petrol and my need for something more practical. Despite a few problems with a noisy LSD (or I think it was) I love the car, the looks and the drive... plus that V6 sounded great... especially when the pop charger was fitted... which brings me onto my next point... I have a few left over items which I will be putting up for sale with pictures over the weekend: JWT Pop Charger (only used for 7 months ~ 3500 miles) Nissan Boot luggage net (cost £38) Z logo key fob Nissan Boot Mat (cost £150) OEM Manifold and gasket (replaced for the Motordyne upgrade) Watch out for the formal advert if interested or PM me

Geoff - what did you end up doing, did you have the lay shaft replaced?

Hi again - this whining / whistling sound is still a loud as it has ever been. I've been doing some searching on the various forums and I think it could be down to the Pilot Bushing, either being too tight or showing signed of wear... The noise I hear disappears once I depress the clutch.... does this seem to be in line with the possible pilot bushing diagnosis???
-
Sorry to resurrect (spelling?) this post again, but the whining continues.... I was thinking that it may not be the LSD playing up because presumably interanls of the LSD will be moving exactly the same with or with out the clutch being depressed.... am I right?? Has anyone else suffered this whining noise when cold and travelling upto about 60mph, not gear dependant?
-
Still no progress on this annoying noise... it's such a shame as I love the car otherwise! My commute to work takes me onto an A road pretty much immeadiately where I will be doing 60ish with a cold engine... so my day starts with this whine every day! It's definitiely linked to the transmission as it disappears when I depress the clutch.... Has anyone else had this problem? I'm also very limited with what I can demonstrate to a garage, becuase the noise goes away when the car is warm, therefore when I get it to the garage it's quietened down.

Cheers for the info, let me check with my local mechanic on the fitting costs and timings and I'll get back to you ASAP
-
Hey - thanks for the details... forgive my ignorance, but presumably the straight through pipe will be the louder of the 2 options? I'm ideally looking for a good deep tone, but definitely without the drone some exhaust systems have... what would you advise? Cheers Chris
-
Hi Mark - I am only running the standard OEM exhaust system so would be looking for the version which is suitable for those measurements (not sure myself sorry). Any Idea on costs? thanks
-
Wow that was quick! I was referring to the Envy in Bedlington, guess I got my names mixed up?!?! Either way, if you can source the part I'm a ahappy chappy... any idea on the costs?
-
Hi - as it says in the title really. I have used Envy Performance to source parts in the past, but it looks like they may no longer be trading?!?! Does anyone know where else I can buy one of these? I had originally planned on replacing the whole cat back system, but reading some threads on here it appears as though the gains may not be that great and can be pretty much acheived by replacing the Y pipe.... any thoughts? Thanks
-
it was about 288 or somewhere in that region... i know it's unlikely to make massive gains with a remap but i had hoped for a little bit more
-
yeah it was definitely was, the obvious sign was the new location of the hazard lights

I had my car remapped at RS Tuning, after i had a JWT pop charger, plenum spacer and the updated manifold, where it produced 299.3bhp (std is 296bhp), obviously I was slightly disappointed! I'm convinced my read diff is on it's way out (see my other posts), does anyone think this could have had a negative impact on my bhp read out????
-
Ha ha - I wish!!! I'm still convinced that it's the diff playing up
-
The whining noise is as loud as it ever was when cold and the car is running at about 50mph (ish), but continues to disappear once it's been running for about 10 - 15 mins... Any other sufferes out there? Plus I now think my clutch may be on the way out... it's been juddering when pulling off on an incline...
-
I'm after some advice... I've just got my (296bhp) car back from a remap at RS Tuning, and the guy there mentioned that he had seen the pop charger drop the power by upto 12bhp!! I've also got the plenum spacer and lower collector fitted... overall I'm pleased with the mods (especially the sound of the pop charger) and remap but if it's dropping bhp by that much i'd rather change.... I hear the air box on the 296 model isn't that bad after all.... any thoughts?
-
looks like the oil change was just a temporary fix!!! The whining noise is coming back slowly... looks like I might have to look up the goodwill from Nissan again...
-
Yeah I think your right with the generic remap, they quoted me £599, so quite a bit more expensive than RS Tuning. But some how manage to quote an increase of 19bhp over stoke!!
-
Hi guys, I've just booked into RS Tuning for a Rev UP remap next friday, but will be travelling down from Newcastle to Leeds for the treatment. However, I have just seen the following link stating another alternative for 350z remaps, does anyone know anything about this lot (a lot closer to me!)? http://www.responsechips.com/performanc ... -370z.html I've heard lots of good things about the work RS Tuning can do so would be willing to make the trip? Any thoughts would be great!
