  3. Thought as much... A mate of mine has an Evo with a huge turbo... really laggy but immensely quick! To reduce lag during the gearchanges on a single turbo, is the best setup to run cams and let the motor rev alot higher?
  4. Don't bother DIY the gassing yourself buddy. It's just not worth it. A refill kit costs the same as getting it done at halfords. Their machine will also tell you before it re-gasses whether there are any leaks. If so, get these rectified. Other points to note: 1) If you don't have any gas in the compressor, the aircon unit will NOT come on. 2) Check the belt is still there and has not come off or shredded. 3) The engine note should sound different as soon as you switch your aircon on as a test. The louder your exhaust, the more noticeable the sound. If all the above checks out then Alex is your man for a replacement unit. Hope this helps.
  5. Mark, Is there any reason this dyno graph starts at 5krpm? Have you cropped it or were the start and end points not setup correctly?

  7. From what I've seen and read, making it more free flowing gives more power and reduces boost and temps making it a bit safer. The trade off is that you loose a little torque due to the reduced boost. My set-up is VERY free flowing due to the Kinetix SSV Inlet Manifold, Decats and True Dual Exhaust. I think thats why my power is relatively high compared to my torque. Mine boosts at 9psi. Your Torque is very good due to your 3.12 pulley giving you high boost but I suspect your power is low in comparison because of restricted flow. If your tune was done with OEM CATs in place I suspect that you'll get a good 20-30hp extra if remapped with decats. You may loose a little torque though. Another factor may be that with the extra boost and higher temps the timing might be held back a bit to avoid any Det. What boost do you see with the 3.12 pulley? With the 3:13 pulley, I see around 13 PSI. My blower has been upgraded with an Si impeller so may not be a like for like comparison. Is your V2 blower stock? Do you know how much torque you're making at the flywheel with the 3:33?

  9. Really, any change to the breathing of the car will need a check on the dyno , but I would think the boost will drop. Yep, will give you a shout later in the week Mark. The cats I got are a little corroded from the inside...

  14. Wow, you making a lot of power for 3:33 pulley man...! Mark's dyno's a little generous me thinks...! Those breathing like headers and decats I was under the impression would lose us power because of reducing the amount of boost but clearly not. I'm making 444bhp / 380lb peak and have got: Vortech V3 S/C with 3.13" Pulley Uprev GT MAF Sensor Stock Manifold Walbro 255 Fuel Pump CJM Stage 0 Return Fuel System Deatschwerks 600cc Injectors Walbro 255 pump 5Zigen Exhaust Inchiba Y-pipe Berk Decats Vortech Front mount Intercooler Vortech bypass valve ______ Dyno was done with stock cats in place. I've since removed them but no remap yet.... Wonder if changing the headers and remapping will yield any gains. Any thoughts Sam?

If not, stick with a decent s/c setup. Enough power for the street. However be warned, you will keep wanting more and you'll have to stop if you have a stock 'DE! If I could go back in time and throw another 10K at this, then it'd be 650bhp+ TT zed.... or I'd buy a 996 Turbo and change the turbo's and be running close to that, which is what my 2 mates have done on stock internals. Much easier.
  16. Forget about N/A tuning on this car... you may aswell sp*nk your money down the sh!tter... I've done nitrous for a nearly 2 years and about the same time for the blower. Filling up the bottle can get annoying and expensive... Fuel economy on the s/c can be about the same as n/a if you don't boot it. Would only use nitrous on drag runs on the strip now (if my engine allowed it).
  17. I completely disagree. FI is the best thing I ever did for my zed, but I do feel that it is a one way street. Personally, I do not believe that once you've 'built' a car to a spec that you're satisfied that you should ever go back and break it up despite it making financial sense. I have Nurrish's old kit on my car on its second year now... Have had a few belt issues, but other then that... I could never drive an N/A zed again! However the point someone made about buying an FI car in the first place I would agree with. Doing this type of conversion whether you're doing it yourself or not, is not for the faint hearted!
