  1. Hello, Can anyone who's changed their rear speakers spare me a moment? I have just brought some Hertz speakers and i'm a little concerned because the tweeter sits about 1/2 inch higher than the mounting ring. I was wondering how much room there is between the metal where you mount the speaker and the grill on the rear panel? Cheers
  2. I've just fit Hertz speakers in my doors and my new amp and rear speakers should be here tomorrow. Fed new cables onto the doors today, quite an easy job but very fidly and very hard to feed the wire up the rubber! I can't my hands now, they're ripped to shreads!
  3. Well I plucked up the courage to have the mirrors sprayed, here's the result: Let me know what you think and any opinions cause I've always got the option of having them sprayed black again for free!
  4. Thanks, Yes, the other channels will be used, 2 for the front, 2 for the rear and 1 for the subwoofer. It was just the subwoofer channel I had the problem with, I didn't understand why there was two outputs on the headunit and only one on the amp.
  5. Thanks, So what you're saying is that I only need to connect one of the RCA's?
  6. Hello, I am just about to purchase a Infinity REF5350a amp but have a question: On the back of my Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD there are preouts for the front, rear and subwoofer. The subwoofer outputs have SWL and SWR: On the amp there is a sub1 and sub2 input but not L or R and the diagram only shows one rca cable being inputted: Do I only need to connect to one of the subwoofer outputs on the headunit or do I need to buy a rca cable that has two male connectors one end and one male the other? Also does anyone know of an easy route to get from the inside of the car to the battery compartment for the amp power cable? Ideally through the front bulkhead? I will be removing the headunit if this helps. Cheers
  7. I'm planning to leave all the wires and block connectors in place and not use them. I'll install new speaker cables
  8. Thank you, I just wanted to check before I start ripping the car to bits!
  9. Hello, I am in the process of installing a full set of new speakers and amp, i have already done the headunit. I plan to install all new speaker cables and power cables for the amp and install the amp in the cubby box behind the passenger seat. Is it possible to just unplug the Bose amp (two connectors) and then leave all the original wiring inplace incase i want to convert it back if i sell the car etc? I will supply the power to the amp from another source, earth to the chasis, and add a new wire for the remote send (blue/white wire) from the headunit to the amp.
  10. Thanks, Is the standard Bose sub a free air (infinite baffle) sub then? I've just popped the Bose sub out and had a good look, I could easily cover the holes in the enclosure to seal it, it's just what type of sub I'd definitely need to buy.
  11. Hello, Thanks for the replies. I'm a little confused to what type of sub I require really. I would like a direct replacement for the Bose one that sounds good and doesn't break the bank too much! After looking into free air subs it appears that they use the whole of your boot area, like a large enclosure, this is impossible in my z. Is the location of the Bose Sub an enclosed compartment? And is there an aftermarket sub that will just fit in there with no extra work required other than some sound deadening material?
  12. These are a couple i've seen, plan is to locate them where the Bose subwoofer currently sits: http://www.audioassault.co.uk/Subs/10%22_Subwoofers/DLS_Audio_Performance_OA10_Free_Air_Subwoofer http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/2412/referer/rc_googleproduct.html
  13. Hello, It looks like my ICE project is going to cost a little more than i first thought! ie new amp etc Is anyone out there using a free air subwoofer instead of the Bose subwoofer? (ie no enclosure is needed). Are these any good? Any recommendations?
  14. Is there any benifit of swapping all of the speakers in the z without replacing the amp? I understand that the amp works at a different ohms rating than aftermarket speakers, does this matter? I have replaced the Bose headunit with a Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD.
  15. Has anyone listen to or heard any reviews on the Hertz ESK165L? http://www.sextonsdirect.co.uk/car_speakers/hertz/p~ESK165L.html?cat=10 I like the look of these as the tweeter is only 20mm and should fit nicely into the standard hole
  16. OK, done a bit more searching and I feel that the following are all within my budget: Focal 165VB Focal 165A1 Infinity Kappa 65.9CS Rainbow SLX265 Deluxe Has anyone fit these and how do they sound?
  17. Hello, I'm going to be taking the door panels off my z in the next few days and thought that whilst i was at it i would replace the front speakers and tweeters. Does anybody have any suggestion to which ones fit and sound good? I've seen the Infinity Kappa 65.9cs, these look a good price at £125 but are they any good. Also where can i buy the spacer rings from? Cheers
  18. When I had trouble with my adaptor i rang incartec (who make them) directly, they were absolutely brilliant and know exactly what you'll need. At the time my Pioneer headunit had only just come onto the market so I sent them the loom and the headunit and they tweeked their software to make it work, said there was a bug in the old loom. Might be worth a call?
  19. There's a bit of play in the holes which mount the trim to the head unit so i managed to keep loosening them off and moved the trim around until it stopped catching.
  20. Thanks for the info, Has anyone seen a dark coloured Z with silver mirrors? Just wondered if it looked ok. I've messed around with some pictures on Photoshop and it looked great to me. I think the door handles are the same colour as the alloy wheels so if i could find a paint code for these then i would do them that colour.
  21. Tape the connector up as it is no longer required Connect the new earth from the ITC loom to a suitable place Connect the loom and try and find somewhere to hide this lot!!!!!!!!
  22. Here's a few more pictures which should hopefully make it clearer: Locate the three wires and cut them from the loom. Cover the unused ends with heatshrink. Unwrap the three cables from the loom Solder the three wires to the ITC loom white - red & green purple - yellow & green grey - orange & silver
  23. Here's a pic from when i did mine: It's not very clear but the bottom wire is the light grey one. white - red & green purple - yellow & green grey - orange & silver
  24. Hello, I have a black 350z and I'm thinking about having the mirrors sprayed silver as I like the look of the silver mirrors on Audi's and Alfa's etc. Does anyone know the exact colour of the 350z's door handles? Also, are the door handles on a silver 350z near enother the same colour as the bodywork? It might be a safer bet to spray them a genuine colour then i could sell them if I didn't like them. Cheers
