In the beginning of 1974, an estimate of 400 000 peoples showed up. They went to see bands like; Emerson Lake & Palmer, America, Black Sabbath, Earth Wind & Fire etc. But the big one was Deep Purple. 1500 workers to handle security, hot dogs etc. Well over one million gallons of water ready, equipment enough to cover several miles, a railway to fit in the gear for each band etc etc. One of the biggest show to this writing date. Deep Purple had a contract that said, that they were "on" at sundown. This show runned unlike other shows early. A man in charge of the show came to the band and said; Right! Your` on!! Ritchie Blackmore said; No, I`m not going..! He was waiting for the sundown like the contract said. The man from NBC started to use a invented language, screaming and shouting. Ritchie still said no. The NBC man got the local sheriff to handle Ricthie. But they locked Ritchie in a room backstage. The audience got more and more anoyed, but after about an well half-hour the sun went down. The group started with "BURN". Richie tried to tell the cameraman on stage to move back, because he needed more space. He told him about five times to move, but the cameraman on the stage didn`t listen. So Ritchie got his revenge by smashing his guitar into the cameralince. It is all in the video. At the end of the concert, Blackmores middle Marshall-rack amplifier was gonna blow up. The roadie responsible for that, wanted a big blast. So he did put too much explosives in, so the blast kicked Ritchie forward on the stage. Even keybordist Jon Lord on the other side of the stage felt the blast well. This is well showed in the video. A miracle none got hurt, according to Jon Lord in a interview. A lot of Stratocasters ended up as souvenirs to the audience this evening. This concert is really music history. I Doubt very much that the clash were louder than these.

You have no taste in music Sarnie, my music hero was Ritchie Blackmore what a guitar god while with Deep Purple and Rainbow , made playing it look so simple and no live acts today could compare with his best performances. Rock Rules!! If the bass line doesn't rattle my windows, i aint interested You don't need music to rattle windows. I saw Deep Purple with Richie Blackmore in 1970 - it was the loudest rock I have ever heard, before or since, but what made it special was that every note and every instrument was crystal clear, and it was musical!!!! Yes someone else with musical taste. I think i will get my Deep Purple Californian Dvd Jam Out (1974) to celebrate.

Inquiry into 'contaminated' fuel Ethanol content should be made clear Trading standards officials have launched an investigation after drivers complained that they had been sold "contaminated" fuel. Drivers from across south-east England believe they may have been sold petrol containing ethanol, which has damaged their cars. Their vehicles have been juddering, misfiring and had a loss of power. Independent oil company Greenergy said it was testing fuel supplied to Tesco and Morrisons to see if it was faulty. Trading standards said its officials were also testing a number of samples but had not yet had the results. Ian Hillier, a petroleum spokesman for the Trading Standards Institute, said: "I understand that there have been around 75-100 complaints from people in south-east England. "Including ethanol in petrol is not really contaminating it, but there has to be a clear warning to people who buy petrol as to exactly what is in it." Some drivers have said that they bought "contaminated" fuel from Tesco's and Morrisons. Tesco said its initial tests had not revealed any contamination, although it would continue to investigate the problem. A spokesman said: "As soon as we were alerted to a potential problem we carried out extensive tests on current and past batches of unleaded fuel, including from some of the affected vehicles, and so far have not discovered any abnormalities or contamination whatsoever." Oxygen sensors AA technical specialist Vanessa Guyll said drivers would notice problems with the running of their cars almost immediately, and providing they sought help quickly, it was unlikely the "contaminated" petrol would cause any long-term damage to engines. The RAC said the problem seemed to be particularly affecting the oxygen sensors in vehicles made by Vauxhall, Peugeot, Citroen and Mercedes. Christopher MacGowan of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders said thousands of motorists had been affected, most of whom had vehicles that were more than three-years-old. It started misfiring and juddering Jonathan Earl Motorist Drivers tell of fury More of your stories He said: "I think that we've got a corridor in east Anglia, London and the South East where somehow a dodgy batch of petrol has crept into the system." Most of the retailers and vehicle manufacturers were testing batches of petrol, said Mr Macgowan. He added: "In the context of over 28 million vehicles on the road, you have to keep it in proportion, but it is serious, and it's very very unpleasant for those several thousand drivers who've experienced this problem." Hundreds of drivers have also been contacting the BBC after filling up their cars with the allegedly contaminated fuel. Some car dealerships say they are trying to repair damaged cars, many of which are now off the road, but the parts they need are now in short supply. Compensation Motorist Darren Ross, 42, has complained to the Department of Trade and Industry about the problem. He buys petrol for his Saab convertible 1.8T at the Tesco superstore in Waltham Abbey, Essex, close to where he lives, and believes it led to his car breaking down. His local Saab dealership told him it was a fault with sensors and that they had had 15 other similar problems over the last week. Mr Ross said the repairs are costing him £200, which is not covered by his warranty because they are linked to a fuel fault. "I want compensation and reimbursement. I need my car for my work and it has been back to Saab four times in the last two weeks."

Yes but even then i bet merc wont do the bodywork. I know that in Stoke the Main merc dealer Drayton Continental use a company called Spray Style to do their repairs on their behalf. Mind you they are superb at their trade.
