What does anyone know about this? might be worth pursuing But you only have until tomorrow.
DO YOU HAVE CHILDREN??
If you do, you could be Eligible For Up To £1048 From The Taxman
But You Must Be Quick!!
Claims must be submitted by 31 January - we explain the eligibility rules and how to claim, below.
31 January is a big day at Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC), not only is it deadline day for submitting annual self assessment tax returns, but more importantly for many families it's also the last chance to claim a tax allowance that many people don't even realise they may be entitled to.
The rebate in question relates to a little known allowance that was available to parents and families before the existing Child Tax Credits system was introduced in April 2003. The allowance wasn't means tested and it wasn't heavily advertised by the Inland Revenue (now HMRC) at the time.
It's vital that you check now, to see if you are eligible to make a claim for the allowance which could be as much as £1,048. If you don't submit your claim by 31st January 2009 you will miss out forever on the chance to get your hands on this lump sum payment.
With the Christmas credit card bills soon to hit the doormat, this one off back payment of between £529 and £1,048 could prove a real financial tonic for thousands of families in the UK.
If you made a claim for the allowance back in 2002, you can't claim again; this opportunity is only for parents that didn't receive their entitlement at the time.
However if you haven't claimed and you meet all the following criteria, you will be entitled to the allowance:
You have a child born between 6 April 1986 and 5 April 2003
The child lived with you for all or part of the period from 6 April 2002 and 5 April 2003
You or your partner earned more than £6,000 and paid tax on their earnings between 6 April 2002 and 5 April 2003
The tax code on your P60 in April 2003 DID NOT end in an H or a T (if it does, you have already received the allowance)
If you meet all the above criteria, you are entitled to an allowance payment of £529. In cases where the child was born between 6 April 2002 and 5 April 2003, the allowance payment increases to £1,048.
To make a claim you need to complete a form 11CTC (downloadable from the HMRC website www.hmrc.gov.uk - just type 11CTC into the search box on the HMRC web page or use this link and submit it to your local tax office by 31 January 2009.
Please note that you can only submit one claim even if you have more than one child that meets the above criteria.
If you are unsure if you've already claimed this allowance and don't have a copy of your P60 for 2003, contact your local tax office to check.
