Nixy it well may also be worth uninstalling AVG I recently installed it on my dads's machine and it slowed his explorer down loads. I un installed it and it was fine. I really dont like AVG as a anti vius solution.

Download this and give it a clean. I dont like AVG either and from my experience that may well be the trouble. http://www.ccleaner.com/download Also IE8 is out now
