It gives me great pleasure to announce that I have managed to secure a detailing seminar at Meguiars HQ in Daventry on the 26th November 2011. Its one of the 1st of the winter season. Its basically a morning where you get to meet at Meguiars, they give an excellent presentation on how to look after your car then you get to try their intimidating light tunnel, use products for yourselves and of course buy some products too! Official blurb is below, spaces are strictly limited to 25 and we will be taking deposits of £10 (refundable on the day when you turn up..sadly when I have run this for other forums people put their names down, take a slot then dont bother to turn up on the day ) It is a winter only seminar as they are too busy in the summer doing shows. If you are very experienced in car care then you may not learn many new things but the guys do this for free and its a great opportunity to meet Meguiars UK, see the facility and get a great background into the company and the products. You will need to be at their HQ by 09.45 for a 10.00 start on the 26th and the location is http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=45 ... &A=Y&Z=110 View Larger Map Thank you for your interest in our Detailing Seminars. Hosting "Workshops" or seminars for car enthusiasts is an important part Meguiar's everyday global activity. In the UK we have spoken at many club regional and national meeting venues about Meguiar's automotive surface care. In the summer months, weather and venue permitting, we follow our PowerPoint presentation with some hands-on practice of techniques and products on a members car, typically in the car park. With the recent move to our new facilities in Daventry, it is now possible for us to host such events almost entirely indoors, in optimal conditions. Our seminars consist of:- •A 45 minute presentation of "Best Practice" in the Training Room. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and hopefully dispel a few myths. •An hour or so working on a visitor's car in our Detailing Bay to demonstrate products and techniques and give visitors an opportunity to try for themselves. •Every visitor receives a pack of sachet samples to take away. We aim to attract enthusiasts with a passion for making their car look the best it possibly can. When such people have experienced Meguiar's products for themselves, they invariably become advocates for our brand. In the final analysis our motives are entirely selfish. Our facilities can accommodate 20-25 people, and we will provide refreshments during the morning. We aim to start the seminar at 10am. I have this offer on another local forum I sponsor but so far uptake is slow...maybe because it involves a bit of a drive from daarn sarth but I'm throwing it open to you all too but I will copy and paste names to my local one so I can keep tabs on the numbers. Cheers Immy, really did look excellent "in person" and the owner was beaming which I'm glad about as he's a DW member and has all the gear and knows what he's talking about too...so a tough audience! -
Black and white car detailing by Envy Valeting
Envy Valeting replied to Envy Valeting's topic in Car Detailing
Yes indeed, they have a score card where every mark can be compared to size wise and money deducted, same with alloys, stone chips dents etc.In this case it was a good idea to spend the money on the detail -
First up, todays detail and a beautiful Detailing World members Audi S5. Full external Swissvax detail, topped with Swissvax Best of Show. White Golf, new car prep. Topped with Jetseal x 2 coats. White can be glossy too! Black again, this one was going back to the dealership at the end of the lease and had a full Swissvax detail, inside and out. Topped with Best of Show wax Any questions, or to make a booking please ask away Tim

Definately either get it detailed or do it yourself but DO get it done right from day 1! Please also reject the dealer supplied options and save yourself a fortune, what you will get off a detailer (or using the right gear yourself) will last a lot longer and the car will be prepped to a much higher standard. Bear in mind your "new" car potentially will have been sat on the production line, at the docks, at the docks here, then stored somewhere until either the dealer takes it in as stock or you buy it! I have seen cars that are supposedly brand new but need a real big amount of work to remove the fall out as they were stored by a railway track etc etc. A dealer will just wash and give your car a coat of a quick polish but is not really bothered how long the end results last. Certainly consider a decent wash, clay, paint cleanse and waxing and in an ideal world you will be protecting your car for 4-6 months right there. Claying will be vital I promise you as it will need it, whatever make and model. If I can help at all please give me a call tomorrow as I'm at home mainly (rare for sure of late!) (01489) 571976. Best wishes Tim

Unfortunately Diesel is not free any more If you were to take a £180 Zed job and take off £124 worth of fuel, leaves £56 for 6-8hrs worked on your car, not forgetting the bridge (no idea on current pricing!), or the 4-5 hrs in the van each way. That would be a job to turn down if you were not contributing towards travel costs for sure!!!! I'd be happy to spend some time in Welsh Wales, as Chris says just get a few together then all split the travel costs etc. Its what I've done many times in the past and makes the travel costs small.

Dont furkin rub it in Mr Mac Right, finally the last one home apart from the joy riders who are also making a holiday out of it I reckon! OK, my turn to add to the glowing reports of a great weekend despite the UK doing its best to dampen the spirits. Many thanks to all who organised and made this happen. A new event for the club but my impressions are it was a success. A brilliant turnout on the Friday night considering the weather. Well done to all involved Personally a big thanks to all the well wishers for "her indoors" and little Zak, a bit of a rough start for them to the weekend. I'd like to thank all of you who I met, both for the 1st time, and old faces and renewed friendships. I really appreciate the support over the weekend, and class it as a success for us too! Best wishes Tim -

About time I did a write up eh Been a little busy but today I thought I'd take some pics of this beauty and put a bit of effort forums wise! Snow foamed with a new foam I'm trialling. Wheels cleaned with AS smart wheels, Envy brushes and the trusty EZ detail brush. Good dwell time on the SSF, helped by the dull Hampshire weather. Rinsed off, door shuts etc done with G202, washed with Astro shampoo, tbm and a Z sponge. Not too bad on the clay front. Paint cleansed with the following combo. Waxed with a wax from a vintage era, allowed to cure whilst I dressed tyres, polished exhaust tips, glass etc. Interior hoovered and interior surfaces cleaned and dressed with Dasheen. Interior glass with Glass green. Buffed off to look like: Time taken 8.5hrs Thanks for looking Tim

North West Valeting or Detailing service?
Envy Valeting replied to brown7758's topic in Car Detailing
Thanks for the recommendation Martin! If it could be fitted in around the LakeZ weekend yeah I could do it for no extra for travel as I'll be in the area. Sadly I do have to charge for travel (seen the price of diesel lately??!) as you are a round trip of 489 miles which is over a tank full of diesel to me If you can manage to be around either before or after LakeZ all it'd cost you would be for the work. If you need someone local try Nic on 07597 636009 he's based at Lostock Hall or LA to you Tell him I sent you. Cheers Tim -
Hey Chris, yes indeed the do...also have it https://www.envyvaleting.com/products_info.asp?id=240 Its not quite so effective at cleaning as the Brake Duster/Deironizer (as its now called) but leaves behind a nano coating makinf future cleaning a doddle. I tend to clean with Brake duster, then spray clean and coat on after to seal a wheel the FAST way I'll make sure I bring it to LakeZ with me as they are both garanteed safe for all wheel finishes by Wolf's inc bare metal/polished/anodized etc etc.
