One of the cleaner bits of clay
Ready for the wax, CG E-zyme today
Waxed bonnet
All done

Evening all.
Lucky me, I got to catch the M6 traffic on Friday for all those going to see the Blackpool lights and Robbie Williams
Still when I got there I had a lovely meal out with my customers from last year. Thanks very much Peter and family
OK so 1st up was a new BMW 1 series that had just been driven here from Germany.
Being white I opted to use the jeffs range of products and 2 coats of sealant. Interior was also detailed fully.
Please enjoy the pics
After Espuma Revolution, and 2 coats of Swissvax Autobahn wheel wax
The finished article, not bad for white
Next up the little Renault, washed and waxed with Swissvax Saphir and hoovered out. Not a full detail here.
Last but not least, a top up on the evo I corrected last year. I'm so glad to say it was still pretty much mark free and beading like you wouldn't believe.
So, washed and topped up with a vintage wax. Hoovered out, job done.
Many thanks for looking, next instalment to follow..I'm overseas now
Cheers

Your pad choice should be fine for the black hole, though you could also try the 3m black glossing pad as its even softer.
To remove the wax you need to use a towel such as https://www.envyvaleting.com/products_info.asp?id=165

Lime prime marks plastic trim. LPL doesnt

Gotta say Paul, when I saw it parked up whilst you did the beetle I thought it was the shiniest and glossiest I've ever seen it.
I'd have nipped over but we had an all day party to get to....good job

Aerospace 303 protectant, get it from a hot tub type place as thier prices are a LOT cheaper than car care places trust me.
-
Ah ha, I can see you out of the back window polishing away...what do you think then Paul?!

Thanks to all involved for a well organised and fun event.
Nice to be able to put some usernames to real names to cars over the weekend and think I've now met most of the mod team!
Thanks to the shoppers for the support over the weekend, it was much appreciated. We had a great time.
Next year we need to do a "tent-tunnel" from the camping field to the burger van, the toilets and end up at my gazebo
Best wishes

Guys,
I'm keen to get my car professionally detailed and I'm looking for some recommendations from people about detailers which have carried out work on their vehicles. I've had a good look around and I know we have some guys on the forum doing really great work.
My only concern is that I'm based in Bath and I have been struggling to find anyone close to me who I can find firm recommendations for. Also I don't have a garage or drive or even the facility to practically supply power and water. Below is my red Zed which I would like to have done
Any recommendations or advice gratefully received guys
Be happy to help out.
I can bring water and power in my van so thats not a problem.
All I'd need is for you to make sure it doesnt rain, and I dont get run over
If you want to see examples of my work do a bit of digging on this forum and also DW in the Studio section
Best wishes
Tim

Filling up nicely.
Pics I took before of the Megs light tunnel......
and what it can show

^Hi Russ, yes Zolder was the one.
Wrapped cars do seem to hold onto the water (see pic 6!) but once it was waxed it beaded up really well and the water just ran off it.

^One day Paul, one day.....

Just a brief write up today. Nice GT3 thats been seen on here before, but this time she was in for an inside and out detail.
Spent the last few weeks at the 'Ring and a track in Belgium (who's name escapes me)
So, some dirty wheels and well splatted flies to begin with!
Wheels washed with AS smartwheels and Envy brushes, foamed with Bubbly Jubbly and then washed with TBM, Espuma Astro shampoo and the trusty Z sponge!
Dried and ready for the next stage
Paint cleansed with SW CF Opaque, then waxed with SW Opaque.
50/50
So, to sum up....
Before
After
Before
After
Beading!
Thanks for looking

Hey all! Apologies for the lack of posts from me of late. Been doing a lot of running around.
Anyway it gives me great pleasure to announce that I have managed to secure a detailing seminar at Meguiars HQ in Daventry on the 27th November 2010. Its one of the 1st of the year and I've had to sit on this news til now.
Its basically a morning where you get to meet at Meguiars, they give an excellent presentation on how to look after your car then you get to try their intimidating light tunnel, use products for yourselves and of course buy some products too!
Official blurb is below, spaces are strictly limited to 25 and we will be taking deposits of £10 (refundable on the day when you turn up..sadly when I have run this for other forums people put their names down, take a slot then dont bother to turn up on the day )
It is a winter only seminar as they are too busy in the summer doing shows.
You will need to be at their HQ by 10.00 on the 27th and the location is
http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=45 ... &A=Y&Z=110
Thank you for your interest in our Detailing Seminars.
Hosting "Workshops" or seminars for car enthusiasts is an important part Meguiar's everyday global activity. In the UK we have spoken at many club regional and national meeting venues about Meguiar's automotive surface care. In the summer months, weather and venue permitting, we follow our PowerPoint presentation with some hands-on practice of techniques and products on a members car, typically in the car park.
With the recent move to our new facilities in Daventry, it is now possible for us to host such events almost entirely indoors, in optimal conditions.
Our seminars consist of:-
•A 45 minute presentation of "Best Practice" in the Training Room. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and hopefully dispel a few myths.
•An hour or so working on a visitor's car in our Detailing Bay to demonstrate products and techniques and give visitors an opportunity to try for themselves.
•Every visitor receives a pack of sachet samples to take away.
We aim to attract enthusiasts with a passion for making their car look the best it possibly can. When such people have experienced Meguiar's products for themselves, they invariably become advocates for our brand.
In the final analysis our motives are entirely selfish.
Our facilities can accommodate 20-25 people, and we will provide refreshments during the morning. We aim to start the seminar at 10am.

OK so who did I speak to on the Isle of Man today?
You were up for the 07.00 run round the TT course
Nice to meet you at "The Sound" at lunchtime.....
-
Its ok and is good for light marring etc but not heavy filling.Fair does, how you find the black hole? it's meant to be awesome as a 'filler' -
Thankyou Wayne.Looks awesome Tim.Do you think I would benefit from applying Black Hole then Best of Show?
I dont think so on your car tbh, a darker car for sure though if swirls are an issue but no time or desire to correct.
Do you have any of the darker colour charged Dodo waxes such as Blue Velvet or Purple Haze?
I'll have some with me at Zedfest if you want to stick your finger in a few pots

Thanks.Beautiful car, nice job as well, did you use the Lime prime and black hole on a rotary? The point of the LP and the black hole was too see how good I could get it without machining it. I applied by PC but with a pretty soft pad for speed.
The owner is undecided on the correction front, so he'll see how it looks over the next few months and possibly I'll correct it later in the year.

Paint correction
in Car Detailing
Posted
A challenging paint correction detail for Envy Valeting saw me tackle this Range Rover over 3 days (and I needed every minute of them!)
Some of you may remember this car from 2008 when I carried out a protection detail on it. This time it got serious
Wheels cleaned 1st with Espuma Revolution at 10:1, envy brushes, ez detail and rinsed. Door shuts etc sprayed with Espuma G202.
Snow foamed with bubbly jubbly and left to dwell.
Rinsed off then washed with Espuma Astro shampoo, tbm and a Z sponge. Rinsed off and dried, then brought indoors.
Looks ok
But isn't!
With the sun gun
This is how a car looks when you use a dustpan brush that had previously been used to sweep up broken glass!
Car was then measured to make sure we had enough to machine polish, taped up and work began. I tried several polish/pad combo's and settled on Scholl Concepts S17 and a Blue 3m pad for the coarse polish stage.
Bonnet looks better
Refinement was by way of Ultrafina and a soft black 3m pad.
The car was cleaned up, de-dusted, paint cleansed then waxed with Swissvax Best of Show wax.
Tyres dressed, tail pipes polished, plastics dressed, glass cleaned and the interior was full detailed too.
The afters
And proof of the pudding, daylight!
Thanks for looking and hope you dont have nightmares!
Tim
