As said already more info needed on the clutch issues and then you could be helped or directed the right way

Hey Ian matey, there is nothing to agree or disagree about as the lad has got his nitrous. i just pointed out options he could have had for that budget with more thought But for the sake of argument you can have a used vortech for $3500 with its preset SS box or unichip PB, FMU and all the necessary hardware as would have been delivered from Vortech for a bolt-on install with no other stuff/parts or tuning required unless you want more power then you need to safeguard against fueling issues Also WRT to my first option it is not just a track setup as you think just sensible stuff to make a 1.5K ton car quicker in real life. you can easily loose 100kgs from a zed without breaking the bank

Serves you right Nixy -
Just caught up on this now but i am sorry to say that though i applaud your effort its not well thought out You would have a much "faster" car with well thought out combo of used and new parts and improved car handling tuition option 1: A rays with grippy tyres, 4.08 final drive, front brake upgrade, suspension upgrade and usual plenum spacer, decats or HFCs and y-pipe upgrade with Uprev reflash and finally any kind weight shedding( remove all carpets, spare wheels, replace seats with cheap bucket seats etc) can be achieved within the £3000 budget you started with yes you would have only gained about 30HP but its there all the time and safe you will be wasting your money on the ARC box. Swap the OEM box to the 2006 setup if you car is prefacelift! option 2: A used OEM Vortech SC kit with no other engine upgrades would still deliver a very safe 330-350 WHP all day long and could be had for $3000-3500 living you a lot of change for some of the items mentioned above Option 3: Have a defitive plan and do things in stages over time spreading the costs Nitrous is the least likely option and would only last for so long (have you checked how long a 10kg bottle would last if you used it frequently ) and be mostly useful in drag situations and that's not "fast" . especially when you run out But as they say to each their own so what matters is you and that you are happy

WTF you could have fitted this yourself safely on axlestands during the weekend it bolt/clip on Also interesting how both got bad at the sametime

+1. The zed is very solid especially if looked after but you will get more car(less mileage/ less owners)for your 10K + PX so shop around and don't be lazy Here you go to start you off : http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/list.a ... =&nodays=0

Adam, You made the right decision and it was about time -
i hope he can too any news on your beast?

See pups, i understand that you are not looking for a performance upgrade just cosmetics but without trying to appear i'm knocking down your idea its not going to work or if it does it will be dodgy. I hope i have exposed the potential issues and alternatives but i would be happy to be proven wrong Can you also tell me how a stock brembo on a bigger rotor ie if you could make it fit and work will perform better than the stock brembo on stock rotors?
-
No it doesn't make sense The K-sport BBK is light years better than the stock Brembos and BTW is not a like for like comparison IF you are implying that adapting a bigget rotor to the Brembo calliper makes it a BBK then you are wrong mate. It will still be a 4pot with the same swept area so the performance will be the same as the stock one If you mean the defacto Brembo GT BBK then they are way way more expensive than the K sports just like then AP racing or other big brands which is why bang for bucks people buy lesser known brands like K-sports, D2, KAD etc in the first place http://www.opieoils.co.uk/product-finde ... it#results

c'mon guys you are too harsh I do agree about passing her SBD many moons ago But she has something in her mouth.......................I hope its not a "gift" from the boss man before the advert was shot There is hint of hyperactive thyroid issues which does not help
-
Why are you trying to make something when there are solutions to this prob? If you really need big discs to fill your new wheels just get a BBK and sell your Brembo(calliper/disc/pads/lines) You should get about £700-900 or so for it and offset the cost of a complete K-sports BBK - 356/8 pots front and 356/6 pots rear with street pads all in for £1800 inc VAT and delivery The street pads are unbranded DS2500 or similar compound so will be good for reasonable trackdays if you are ever inclined. I used these pads for 25 laps on the Ring before swapping to race compounds and they held up everytime for up to 4-5 back to back laps and needed cooling to regenerate th performance. This is because they are inherently softer and less aggresive, so if used for a long trackday there is a likelihood of pad transfer and ghosting as i found out which is easily sorted by bedding in procedure or light skimming. However for street as you would likely use it, no such problems will arise and it is quiet, makes very little dust and the disc will last This must surely be safer and cheaper in the long run than adapting some other set up to the Brembos callipers

GT4 rocks UY is rare too so good choice again. Post up pics quickly before someonelse says...............

I think that the steering is well weighted and gets even better with uprated suspension and geometry setup and bigger wheels You need to try mine with 265 wide wheels in front and you'd be amazed As you find yours too light then it might be worn suspension components as you suggested or the geometry setup or even tyres(eg too hard compound, old, overinflated, el cheapo to name the common probs) ) that are at fault

There is no such thing as warping of disc in modern cars Its all DTV (disc thickness variation) which is manifest as RO (run out) which the classic symptoms when braking. The tolerances between the hubs and disc/pads worsen by wear and tear, kerbing, bumps etc and with time/age and leads to RO. The prevention is always is to match new disc and pads to the hub on the car by checking the RO and skimming the disc is there is any significant DTV. You should check for other causes of vibration by a thorough exam of the tyres, wheels, pads, hubs on and off the car and sand off any rust or crud deposited between mating surfaces. also check for any suspension play the wheel off the ground. See this post for all full or where to get it done. Since i had mine done by Procut there has been no issues since I was lucky they could arrange for me to meet their mobile engineer who was scheduled to provide training at a local garage in Worcester and so my zed was used for demo and therefore had a discount viewtopic.php?f=17&t=32481&hilit=disc+thickness+variation&start=15

finally ol' chap +1 on spacers and lowering Should be fine with 15mm spacers without need to roll arch as you have 285 wide tyres Whats next?

bump

Hey John, you have been through the wars i see and finally seen the light at the end of this very long dark tunnel. It will also be helpful to name the garage in question so as to warn other about who they are especially if its a service used by forum members

This will be something

I like them though i guess the pics do not pay them justice as compared to the close up shot in pg 1 Now i think you need to do the foglight mod to make the rear clusters symetrical or if you are not bold enough you can just buy them see envy or JDMperformance Its simple though DIY
