Dan, excellent write up and review I aggree 100% with how you went around modding the car for your needs and these steps should help guide others in the quest to make the zed better I wish i have more time with the zed to actually try the chassis bracing and stiffer bushings. Power is nothing without control

Sorry about your woes Chris. These things happen. I had a very slow collision(5-10mph) with a kerb in a non-gritted hospital car park last december and i was shocked at the damage to the tyre, wheel and front lip. Cost me £500+ by the time all repairs were done i did get a discount for the wheel from Wolfrace I would'nt attempt any sort of repair on a bent cast alloy wheel like said already Speak with Dotz or their UK rep and i'm sure you can get the wheel replaced @ a discount

Go for it mate or should i say congratulations For me there is no question about geting the GTR over most cars out there for similar money but i would go for a standard color car (black or white ) and preferably one with mods done by MH. That color is lovely but could be very expensive if it needs to be resprayed for any reason Enjoy man

mate BTW you chose the right color Happy modding and zedding

The usual causes of this problem are: - gross tyre pressure mismatch - el cheapo tyres (low grip) - different tyre brands mismatch on same axle or both axles - wrong tyre sizes - tyre wear mismatch eg worn old fronts versus new rears - commonest culprit - "green" new tyres especially rears So it looks like in your case it could be any of the last 5 options More info of your setup will help clarify. if you just recently changed the rears then after a few hundred miles when these tyres get heatcycled they should offer more grip and break traction less. So go easy with your right foot with new tyres as recommend with any change of tyres

You are going to have a lot of fun pal

Bhav, - check there is no leaks by ensure all jubilee clips are tight - check the MAF sensor plug is clipped in all the way. - if all the above are ok and no other fitting oversight the CEL should not come again after ECU reset unless its something else.
-
i think you have got all the answers you need by the above members - soft side walls hence try upping the pressure.( add by 2psi per test) - needs to get heat cycled to give full grip (can take up to 500miles to do so depending on your mileage and driving style) - softer compound than the BS RE 040 (RE 050 are better) - You get what you pay for (Falkens are budget to midrange IMO) Just be patient and donot tamper with the geometry anymore until you have done the above. less you create another variable. But if you feel its understeer you are experiencing come back for help on geo settings to get rid of that

Nice, deep dish, aggressive offset but probably heavy and pricey! Will suit someone from the bling crowd

+1 on nismo veruspeed or oem. Its not rocket science...filters just hard cold marketing

This is unsual to say the least. Did you do it yourself? are the retaining clips in place? is there something that has not been put in correctly or loose? what about the disc condition? are you sure you got the right fitment for the zed?thats what you should be looking at if i where you i will take everything down, inspect fully and re-install. if everything is ok then put it down to the pad material though red stuff is not known to be squeaky

Looking good especially with the diffuser
-
Awesome work Taddy Ok you win!!! I ...........you have the stealthiest zed in the country Is the TS diffuser is a copy? i like it and the bonnet alot where from or what brands? BTW I think you need the bi-xenon lights to pull off completely the blacked out look and still have usable light output. I still like your wheels. hope you are sticking with them

Hey Ian, i can see we are pretty eager mate! its a good thing i had everything worked out early this year but everyone dropped out in the last minute anyway i will catch up with you so we can plan a mega zed trip and possibly meet with the french 350z club guys led by Taurim(serge)and our friends already residing in Germany(Rob hughes, Thomas sorenson etc). It will be fun to have a big turn out but i am sure at least 5 will make it this time! it's a shame Dan(Ekona) is selling his zed because i am sure he would have been in if we outline things early it will give people 5+ months to prepare, save or take the time off! nice

Take up Taddy's offer and Kill them all!!! Post vids please

Apologies if this has been shown before: This guy below - Dado did a 07:55 Albeit with MPS cup tyres, modded 350zHR with 330bhp. The car also has stoptech BBK and KW V3 coilovers. He is good though, very smooth and only after 39 laps(? ever or in the zed ) My friend Taurim(300+ laps) had the previous best time of 08:11 but he is more aggresive and probably loses some time sliding the rear. Looks like I need semi slicks too and full suspension bushing kit if am to improve on my 08:15 time or rather balls of steel 07:55 lap http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOP_o-RDDKA Harrassing some porkers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcI0CKmoVpo Ring taxi to the sword http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6MTFym6iAA Taurim's 8:11 lap - see the difference in style

Must be the new rear tyres mate. the fronts are grippier until the rear becomes fully cycled it will have less grip and hence ESP kicking in just take your time for the next hundreds of miles! However i have to question your breaking while turning I know you have not fully described what you where doing but all your braking should be done with straight steering input as much possible. Its a caution that will serve you well with wintery/wet conditions pending.
-
Hi Steve how is it going? i was away for a bit and missed your races Is the championship over? did you win or improve on the GC? i agree with you that for a track car the 4.08 is perfect but we are not as lucky as you are Also the lower the ratio the more aggressive you have to go so there is a fuel consumption penalty
-
+1. debating with the idea.... Greekman, I am surprised you did not change your final drive when you got the LSD But everything else was spot on and your handling must be something else i suspect as mine if really good but could be improved with bushing and LSD You got the best balance modded zed here IMO

Favourites for me: - K-sport BBK - Full suspension upgrade.(KW V3, adjustable ARBs/Droplinks/ cambers & Toe arms) - Michelin PS2 n1 rubber - nurrish Nav - Short shifter - Turbo XS Utec tune On my list if the zed stays: - carbonetic hypersingle clutch/flywheel - oil cooler and baffled extended sump - full urethane bushes on every suspension link - urethane engine and tranny mounts - full GT spec reinforcement kit - 3.9 final drive and Quaife diff - race seats - Top secret rear diffuser or chargespeed rear bumper Money no object: - BC 3.8 stroker kit - Cams - Headers - Nobvidem supercharger - Roll cage* e.g Cusco (if road legal) - full weight loss program (CF bonnet, doors rear quarter boot with polycarbonate glass replacement! - Volks CE28N wrapped in MPS cup rubbers - diff cooler kit
-
Nice motor Dan Still has the same spirit as a zed so we forgive you Have fun and keep in touch
-
Definately a very good mod Anders as the diff is out However i will stick with the 3.9 final drive which still gives about 10% acceleration per gear and still retain decent topspeed .

Good job Matt. It should be a piece of cake to supply all the necesary fiitings and guide I had the MD 5/16th spacer then sold it for a custom 1/2" spacer which came without any fitings. I got all from a specialist Nuts and bolts shop on ebay for under £20 including custom nylon spacers. I used the factory metal gasket and there no leak. Because the 1/2" is slightly taller and potentially rub on the strut or not clear the bonnet i measured everything carefully and cleared everything with longer bolts and and plastic spacers for both strut and the plenum note that the threads are different for the strut and plenum They do all finishes and types of not and bolts etc and custom lenghts at short notice and similar price to std imperial/metric ofshelf items. i'll find the link to their shop for you.

Engines - Big End Issues - Refurb/Replace.. Help!
GT4 Zed replied to dave-heath's topic in 350Z Technical
Sorry about the news but this can be sorted easily as mentioned...... Zmanalex, lee or reputated garages. The options are get the bearings +/- rod(s) +/-crank replaced or get a waranted low mileage DE engine fitted by a reputed garage. It should come in circa £3k for option 2 which is better IMO. If its me and i am keeping the car for much more and going to spend up to %k with the stealers, i would replace with engine with a revup or HR engine for near enough the same money and throw in a mild nismo cam, headers, ATI dampners, ligthweight pulleys, lightenned clutch/flywheel, uprated tranny and engine mounts, nismo short shifter and even 3.9 final drive all in there and tune with Uprev or piggy back i reckon you will have 350FWHP easy with these and a very responsive car Greekman made 340FWHP with mostly uprev i believe? Anyway good luck on your engine search!
