  1. +3 on MPS2s But most important are, anticipation, a good feel for grip and a light right foot
  2. 100% sure for now Its too early and the weather usually unpredictable at this time of the year 1) Wasso 2) Andlid 3) Darren-b 4) P15ULT (Paul) 5) ThomasSoerensen 6) Rob-Hughes 7) GT4 Zed 8) 9) 10)
  3. your tune is fine I was just refering to how some people can make baseless assumptions by making senselss direct comparisons rather than end results or actual improvements. I will bite your fingers off for the Haltech anytime or the SSV
  4. No probs Mark In the heat of argument you write down things differently from your thoughts, i did not mean to say that but rather that piggyback can do a reliable job and have been doing so for ages. Reflash is getting more and more popular and are an alternative. IMO i think that is the future of tuning. However I don't understand what you mean exactly as you should be aware that the UTEC does not intefere with cold start ie open loop control and other functions eg TC, cruise control and lets the OEM ECU do its job but take over by it lets you control fuel and ignition timing, also because it has its own injector and coil drivers you have direct control as oposed to signal trickery employed by simpler piggy back systems like unichip. In moddest NA tune the fuel control is by MAF Pull Up/Down. MAF signal are intercepted and added or subtracted up to 50% to the signal and ignition timing is referenced by RPM vs MAF and resolvable in 250rpm increments with 10+ load sites on the whole rev range from 500rpm making for very accurate control combined with injector scaling. There is also knock control features and retard capability safety. So because the OEM ECU controls open loop fueling on start up there is no issues and on closed loop the UTEC goes about its business as above via maf and references from the OEM sensors. There better close loop control as in FI applications there is the option to use speed density fuelling via MAP for high loads while lower loads are still covered by MAF. other features include - spare drivers to run water injection, meth, N20 etc. - datalogging - remote map switch - adjust rev limit - and upgrade the software when new upgrade are available so i have no doubts that the UTEC is capable and i have not had any issues with it and my dynos support this. Just like UPrev reflash is a very good option in your hands which was want i wanted to stress. I would look out for your track upgrades and maybe paying a visit next year to get full bushes and bracing kit fitted and possibly a quaife LSD and 3.9 FD but will not order anything yet as i suspect you maybe offering a full one stop service on these . thanks for you clarifications.
  5. Mark, i hope you have not taken this out of context mate. I have never said anything bad about the Uprev and in fact have lauded its capabilities. i even said i may have got it if i was arouns when i needed tuning which is why i went for UTEC. But the argument is why should the impression in the forum be that there is no other way to tune cars apart from Uprev? I know you are a business man but for our benefit to enable choice we also need objective assssments from people like yourself. You have said this before that you don't think piggyback works on the zed so how do you explain all the cars running on them and making reliable gains. i think you need to clarify this in the interest of objectivity. There are many things you have said in the past eg about tests you have made about bolt-on mods gains which i have agreed upon and found similar results will testing with the UTEC and shared in the forum you can't say i am biased. i will keep the same high esteem for you or abbey and will never hesitate to use your service or recommend it. cheers
  6. Hey Anders i was not refering to you directly in my previous post. But in anycase there will never be a correct answer for your question as there a so many variables eg mods, condition of the car's engine, skill of the tuner and preference of buyer. That said most of the proven system in the market deliver results if well tuned so it comes down to budget. For example, i know that the Haltech standalone is an awesome system and is not comparable to a reflash or piggyback as it offers more tuning possibility, but based on a subjective argument, am i right to say that its inferior because in the horsepower leaderboard thread your car made less power with similar mods (and more eg SSV) than other cars with Uprev relash or even mine with the UTEC? That would be nonsense don't you think? Thats why i said we should make objective points rather than supposition or hearsay which is sometimes to easy in the forum and helps nobody
  7. Before this degenerates into a d--k swinging contest i was just proposing another alternative to the OP spending his £500. I expect to sell my kit around the £300-350 eventually so it is should be attractive IMO to the OP, leaving him with money for fine tuning his mods as there are already a few maps on the UTEC to play with or to go FI in future. Uprev is very good and will cost similar money but to say it is better or more sofisticated than the UTEC or Greddy e-manage is just pointless. Moreso the UTEC is a very atypical piggyback the way it controls the car unlike other piggybacks which trick the cam/crank sensors to alter timing! All i can say is just look at the popularity of the UTEC/ e-manage/unichip etc in the states and how often they are used to make big FI power as opposed to reflash eg Uprev and Technosquare which are more popular in optimising bolt-on NA tunes. This is because i suspect they run out of resolution as they are limited by the OEM ECU drivers. The OEM ecu is very good but was not designed for high Hp applications. Bottom line it comes down to the tuner and your budget There are limitations to both if compared to a standalone and even the standalone is not without cons as OEM non essential functions maybe be disrupted. So please be factual or offer objective advice
  8. Herewith my review after over a year of onwership and a real trash about. I think Wasso's comment says it all I would the following about Ksports BBK: Pros - very good engineering and precision of components. - Complete kit with easy plug and play swap - good quality at the business end of things eg bracket, disc, calliper quality - rivalling performance to established "big brands" eg AP racing - Unbeatable price - Interchangeable parts with AP racing BBK range and can use all also the top spec pads from mintex pagid etc. - If you love your trackdays which i know you do and have the suspension setup to take it then this is for you. when combined with PF 01 pads there is very little you cannot outbrake on the track - Car specific design which make fitting easy and maintains factory brake bias and OEM modulation and brake feel. Even with PF01 race compound cold bite is surprisingling good but when up to temp this thing is just awesome.... staright line braking, no vibrations, no lock ups just repeatable performance with no fade. I have done 5 hot Ring laps and only stopped to cool oil and tyres - Good pad and disc longevity. i am yet to change the disc or pads which have about 75% life left despite all the abuse thrown at it and a skim due to excessive pad deposit ffrom the Ksport OEM sports pads. - Very good support from Apex performance who rep Ksport in Uk Cons - A lot of dust with PF 01 race pads but less with ferodo DS2500 and even less with Ksport street pad. - Squeals when cold. - the OEM ksport streets or sports pads are very good too but for extended trackday they suffer heatsoak and tranfer material to the disc which can lead to DTV requiring skimming. I would recommend then for fast road use and ocassional short stint trackdays but for long stints or the Ring get the PF 01 or pagid yellows because even the DS2500 is not a full race pad. - The calliper paint and non structural bolts heads and nipple heads are in SS so prone to superficial rusting but this can be repowder coated and bolts swapped for rust proof items if the esthetics is so important to you. In summary it is a must have for any serious trackday player. But i would seriously advise fully suspension upgrade and decent tyres as the zed was built soft for comfort and not aggressive track characteristics. I have to change all my bushes now which have been mashed up http://www.ksport.co.uk/products.asp?f=brakes No i am not on a comission or whatsoever
  9. Thanks Ian, Paul's asking price is very good but that ECU just like yours has not been proven to work or has maps ready to plug and play as my offer hence the asking price .
  10. BNIB: What it should look like installed: Bought this early this year after seeing it in a show home but i can't fit it as it requires a brick line chimney which i dont have. I have decided against building one so it has to go. Cost £840 new when i got it. Just done a search for the lowest price currently on the net and found £570 see info/specs here: http://www.hotprice.co.uk/2118/3769/pro ... -fire.html Would be happy to sell for £400ono delivered or even lower if you can find a lower priced one FS Note it is still BNIB and was openned once to make sure nothing was damaged.
  11. Hi dunkster, just saw your querry. Uprev is good just as UTEC ems or any standalone ECU eg haltech. It all comes down to costs ! In that respect Utec and Uprev are close. there a pros and cons to both but personally i went for UTEC for the resale advantage as it is plug and play while the Uprev is licenced to the original ECU so it can be complicated on selling time if you want to partout the car. no problems if you can manage to sell it on with everything on My UTEC has 4 maps ready tuned in which you can match to your mods so as not to require fine tuning but if you do need a fine tune its easy and takes about an hour and can be done by any tuner. At £400 ono it matches the cost of Uprev see info here: viewtopic.php?f=32&t=42560
  12. Might be two unrelated issues so its worth noting that your cruise control will not engage when the temps are low and roads liable ice over Usually there will be the sign "icy" on the rightnost dial on the center console tripod and if you press the CC buton the cruise lits comes one with the set light which flickers and they both go off. Its just on more safety feature to stop you from loosing your guard in treacherous conditions Infact you should avoid using it even in the rain. Its suitable for normal driving conditions only.
  13. Had my upgrade to 4G in july and forgot to sell this on Now down in value but still going on Ebay for £200ono. Happy to let this go for £180ono delivered. its in good condition with minimal signs of wear and will come with all the bits minus earphones for obvious hygiene reasons. I believe it is factory unlocked and ready to go.
  14. +1 agree MPS2 are light weight especially the N1 variant Nice find Thomas, saw similar list before and the Buddy club P1 racing QF was the lightest of the lot. It is forged and well contructed like its nearest rival the CE28N but cheaper however may be now discontinued
  15. aha this thread has been revived I have offered many comments in various post where it came up but i will write a nice summary of my experience after over one year as it is only fair to do so for the benefit of the forum and for interested parties In all i only have positive comments about these BBk and the fact that Ksports have been official Time attack brake suppliers and winner it goes along way to say about the good balance quality and performance of the BBK and value for money i hope Wasso can chip in as he recently had the pleasure of being scared to death in my zed and he can provide an unbiased view of the Ksport BBKs performance and the handling of my zed in general as we had a 30mins blast in the country
  16. Looks nice though Just different from the original which i like too
  17. nice work Steve +1 on the front bumper and getting a race splitter will finish things off nicely for next season
  18. Don't see the point in going square on the aftermarket wheels as you will have to run staggered tyres anyway. Its just going to be an extra weight penalty on the fronts. i am running 265 fronts and 295 rears on staggered 19x 8.5 and 19x9.5 wheels . this wheels are a tad undersized for these tyres but i have seen no adverse effects on fast road or tarck use using MPS2 N1 tyres which have a rigid side wall. however i reckon a softer side wall tyre like falkens will squirm alot and make the car less sure-footed so unless you are sticking with stiffer walled MPS2 tyres or the like the best wheel for these wider tyres should be at least a 9j up front and a 10j at the rear though 9.5j and 10.5j will be perfect. In your case if you want to run 275, it will be perfect for the 19x10j wheel and will not need rear arch rolling and 19x 9j in front will carry a 245 tyre nicely. All you need is to make sure you have the right ETs for a nice flush fit
  19. there is an eye for the rear tow hook under rear bumper beneath the little square pull up tab. you tow hook is in the right trunk well with the jacks etc. just lift the platfrm between the boot and spare wheel compartment to get to it. Hope you have towed a vehicle before and the driver of the towed vehicle is competent if not it can end in tears Easy does it and anticipation is crucial. However if you mean like towing a caravan or trailer etc then there is no provision for this on the zed unless you customise one. frankly this is the wrong car for such menial tasks
