Nice find Thomas, The zed is an exciting rally car as the vids show but i think it will be down on the AWD or FWD competitors in terms of ultimate handling and poise in rallying enviroments. kudos to those guys for trying though

5mins? Anyway its a stupid test and proves nothing
-
Healthy figures Jez . What do you use for remap? and what decats?
-
Bang on the money there Dan MPS FTW. RE050A, VUS have good performance but still fall way short. Re040,TR1, FK etc are just midrange performance tyres and just don't cut it if you want the best in handling/grip and stopping in fast road or track usage.

+1 I have a short shifter so the "feature" was made worse but after change of gear box oil(motul) and always dilligent warming first off in the morning its no longer an issue And if i have to drive off without adequate warming it quickly smoothes out when the transmission is up to temp.

Nice work I can only guess whatelse you guys may have in store for the zed keep it up

you know what to do! don't you?

It's a difficult one. Especially as I've always been against these sorts of clubs in the past. But now I'm starting to lean towards them. My thinking is that I can scratch a lot of itches in one go. The fleet covers almost every type of car you 'dream' of owning. You can get a long weekend in a 430 Spider, R8 V10 Spyder, LP560 Spyder, a GTR, a GT3RS, DBS etc etc. My thinking is that once I've been through them all, I might know which one I really really liked and buy one, rather than buying one outright and then about 8 months later wanting to swap it and taking the depreciation/cost of changing hit every time...... One thing that I do like, is that you can pay a payment of £2500 and then the rest in 10 monthly installments, which makes it seem like less of a commitment, plus it lessens the risk factor should the company go bust, which is not unheard of..... +1 I think you have your answer here Sarnie. If one had the money to buy a £100K supercar then he/she can afford £12k to sample all the potential dreamcars within a few months and choose the one(s) you want at under the cost of 1 years depreciation/insurance and service running costs of full ownership of most true supercars You would not be joining for the GTR or porche TT etc as these will be workhorses in your stable

It looks worse than it actually is When i swap to my BBK 30K miles ago my OEM Brembo which had just done about 30K looked similar. the corrosion is superficial and can be skimmed off very lightly to refresh the disc when changing to new ........pads if there is still "meat" left on the disc . The only noticeable thing is all the drill holes and some slots are fiiled with pad material which suggest you may be using very soft pads for your driving style and something more harder with hgh friction properties will keep them clean and work better eg if you were using green stuff then you need to upgrade to red of if red then to yellow stuff

When you have a re-map I suggest one thing (especially if it's likely to snow again or next winter) which is to ask for a conservative map, that's if you are able to use multi-maps (car year depending). I'll be asking Abbey for a conservative map next time I visit. For those who have Throttle Controllers, imagine trying to drive in the snow on SP7!! My current map of course is giving me max power, stupid me didn't think about this during the snow and it's become a nightmare to drive anywhere. So a multi map is one heck of a solution if you are able to run multi-maps. Will - get a remap.... you know you want to.... Just think of putting your foot down on a motorway (sorry Autobhan) open her up to 100mph then floor it till it hits speeds in excess of 155mph. I managed 162mph (on the Autobhan) after chickening out due to the bumpy road surface. What bumpy surface? chicken

RAF Valley Track day and visit 8th and 9th April
GT4 Zed replied to The G Man's topic in Motorsport & Track Days
You should invest in one if you intend to keep the trackday bug going Cheaper in long run to renting. I have an expensive Shoei can from my motobike days but i saw some good deals at Autosports at the NEC last year for circa £150 (meets all type approval/regs) Unfortunately they were only white ones left I hope to go early this time so i can get some black ones. 15th - 16th for your diary -
5-30 im sure. Personaly any good 5-30 or 5-40 is fine. +1. also mirrored by Oilman when i spoke to him in Aotusports last year. No need for 10+wXX or 0wXX oils even for trackdays. The Nismo racing zed uses 5w40 by Motul (300V competition) but for better fuel economy a full synthetic 5w30 is adviced by Nissan for our road going zeds. I have used both and it made fook all on economy The thread by Resolute in my350z is interesting and fundarmentally highlights how good the newer generation synthetic oils are in providing protection whatever weights you use but i think individual driving style and usage will determine how appropriate your oil choice is for your car and the only way to know is by oil analysis. But why spend money to do this when to this regard Nissan/Nismo would have spent millions in R&D to arrive at the conclusion that 5w30 is best for the zed in our UK climate

Nice zed shakedown before the Ring trip after all the winter fettling And all for a good cause too -
you will enjoy modding the zed. trust me

Hey James. happy new year your zed looks even better and mint The exige is cool but i'll have the zed over it anytime. I had the 111R elise for 6 months which was spot on handling but lacked grunt on when you needed it most. Drove a few non SC exiges before the purchase but IMHO they are too expensive for what you get for your dosh A well sort out lightenned track-spec zed will run rings around it on all but very twisty tracks.

Thanks fellas. i feel better already checked the damage today and its not so bad. 1- superficial circumferential kerbbing to both OS wheels with a dent on on spot in the rear wheel edge were it took the brunt of the impact. Both wheels refurbishable easily. i have a spare rear and front wheel anyway 2- Bent Eibach rear camber arm. Needs replacing They are engineered to bend this way to save the other suspension components 3- Loose Eibach toe bolt. just needs adjusting and tightenning when i redo geometry Phhhheeeeewwww........ it could have been worse Erything else checks ok front and rear. Will have to order new or used Eibach or Ichiba camber arms and may as well get engine/tranny mounts and uprated urethane bushes all round as mine look very gone some pics: See rear wheel in +ve camber and toeing in as result of bent camber arm. Bent camber arm. Amazing how much rusting/salt corrossion to it, the ARB and the droplink after 1yr See the normal NS arm for comparison Will need to PM Zmanalex or just get the camber/toe arms and bushes from Adam after the new year celebrations. Happy New year to everyone here and your families.

Just went out to town tonight to restock for the New year Was driving 15-20mph when a truck moved accross into my lane to clear a stationary car half parked on the road and kerb. I had anticipated this so i was already squeezing quite close to the OS kerb but for some reason he appeared to have given too much room to clear the parked car and was going to scrape my zed so i swerved even closer to the curb as there was still some unmelted snow hugging the kerb which fooled me into thinking there was still some room...................all i felt was the front wheel then the rear hitting and riding the kerb briefly but not before the sickenning sound of alloys meeting concrete I drove back home immediately cancelling the shopping and have only partly assessed the damage But worryingly the steering feels off and i hope its nothing more than the alignment that has been knocked out from the very precise track settings Will check the full damage and report on Thursday Can't believe i survived the heavy snow for this

Black is fastest

+1 I tried keeping a GTR behind me in a twisty A road and lost woefully despite trying hard. The zed and GTR are not on the same planet....period

Rubbing the fezza's nose in its own backyard Priceless

Well said Jay Merry christmas to you and the whole zed family And may the New year be properous and bring: - an even bigger, stronger zed community - cheap petrol and more amazing mods - and finally that the problems at the Ring get sorted out pronto!

Why do we have to pay for such c@!k-ups Its a bloody disgrace that such investment was made without sound research and forecasting and now the sh%t has hit the fan, we enthusiast are most likely going to be shafted royally somehow The only good news is that its Germany and so everything would be done to save the place or preserve the status at all cost. If it were here in our nanny state it would just be the final reason for the health and safety brigade to go in for the kill and close down the place Please guys and gals lets show support with Sabine and get our voices heard

Not good reading this sort of news Ian Hope the damage report is kind It may not necessarily be black ice as any difference in traction levels may cause a skid and this is particularly true at this time of the year. Just imagine how it is for me with 295x30x19" at the rear My trick has been always been to try and keep all the 4 wheels on the same kind of surface wherever i can and if it where not possible to be proactive at the least hint of a skid. You can always anticipate where the skid is going to happen most times, if you pay attention to the reading the road surface ahead and be cautious when the is possibility of BI. This is typically when the is little of no snow on the tarmac hence the overlaying thin sheet of ice is practically invisible and catches out people who donot see the danger and reduce there speed accordingly. Another place to be wary about is when you have patches of new smooth tarmac and old rough tarmac. The transitions can be particularly treacherous in both frosty or wet conditions Hope this helps the unwary.
