  1. I finally completed uprating all my front axle OEM bushings to Superpro items on bumblebee and felt it was time to update the thread I have been mightily impressed with the superpro banana(compression0 arm bush that it was only natural to use them again. Thanks to Ross and all @ Superpro UK for their continued support and technical expertise in addressing my requirements as mentioned in the start of this thread my goal is to sawp all the soft perishable OEM bushes on both axles to create precise and consistentent handling characteristics to cover road and track day use. Lower control(tranverse link) arm: on the car: off the car and dirty with perished old OEM rubber bushes: what goes where Pressing on: Done and cleaned ( From left to right - outer shock/damper bush, attchment point for droplink, inner lower control arm to chassis bush: The conical hole at the right is for the outer ball joint connecting arm to front hub. Close up of perished bushes( not as bad as the banana bush though )
  2. Flashed you at the very last moment when i reliazed it was a zed I was focusing on overtaking the MPV with foriegn plates ahead of me driving like miss F&%king daisy Anyone here?
  3. You can get insurance even preferable with a german insurance company. As stated here or on benlovejoy's site or any other standard insurance from the UK will exclude the Ring That is why iknow the passenger seat and laps experience on offer is very competitive because these risks have been taken out for you so you can enjoy the experience fully and safely. Just 3 weeks to go now
  4. Good on you Chris. Nothing sad here but right choices Moreso you will still be here as a trader and before you know it will be back with a Z(370 that is ) In the interim shotgun seats will always be there a plenty for you mate. PS: You know i still need the MD bits and will be adding some more stuff soon to that request
  5. Or remove counter weight located in the center of the boot covered by the plastic trim and also the wiper delete and its sorted. open and holds and cost you nowt. Not to forget it looks cool(wipe delete) Ok you need to buy the grommet to cover the wiper hole which is under £5 an assorted pack of 4 if memory serves me right
  6. nice one Will Was on the phone will Mike(GT3 RS) yesterday . The car is almost ready and we plan to drive down to the Ring together on Friday. I will keep this offer open till month end as it will be nice to have company and ballast
  7. Speak to phill Couts @ Torque motors in Worcester as he prepares these to FIA specs(chassis, roll cage, aero only) for very competitive prices and he can direct you to where you can eke a bullet proof 400HP out of that lump(M3 3.2 evo or 3.0) for endless enjoyment and reliability both on track or drifting. http://www.torquespeeduk.com

    HSD Coilovers

Spot on mate you need to compare like for like and on the same car. i went from hypermax wheich is supreme on the road and average on track to KW var 3 and its hard to set up for UK roads but on track its supreme. The fundermental question is what you want to use the car for most of the time. I have accepted a really poor ride comfort on DD for a perfect track day setup but it may not be someone elses cup of tea so start but deciding what you ant and budget then take it from there, cos even cheap coilies like BC racing are quite good but will never have the R&D to compete with the likes of KW or Bilsteins etc for track work.
  9. Why would one use unleaded in the first place beats me as its false economy! As covered already the car is mapped from factory with super and when you look at the cost of running both the apparent cost benefits using unleaded do not outweigh the risk of premature failure. At the very least the cost difference is 5-7p/l and on a full tank(assuming bone dry its £5.6 @ 7p/l difference! @ 6K miles/yr assumming 300miles per full tank that works 20 full tanks/ yr = circa £100 more . but a knackered engine is worth £1500-2K excluding fitting The argument of gains in bhp etc really is a none starter......its all about running the car optimally. you can aswell put mineral oil to save money or not even drive it at all On another note my experince is the care never falters on super and the rare occassion i toped up with 95 oct it pinked to hell. yes one mighty say because its tuned but we all know high oct means running cooler, less risk of det so the ecu can run more advance and as a result more pwr.
  10. Honest AK, no pills, spare pants or plugs required I am well behaved and even trying at 5/10th of mine or the car ability and that is plenty to make anyone quite sick and trill. The killer for a noob is the cornering grip and braking performance coupled with not knowing what happens in the next I still am yet to repair my passenger door handle which Will ripped off in Wipperman corner(i think)....really fast S curves that can be taken at incredible speed generating gut wrenching g's even in a zed I also have made a memo to carry a sick bag when carrying a noob passenger as it can be that close to bavving Eventually after numerous laps Will was relaxed and fully enjoyed himself and did really well on his own laps. Did not time it but would be sub 12-13mins i reckon. The only time i go fully for it is when on my own as i can be quite distracting to have a screaming or apprehensve passenger. On the other hand having a passenger evens out the balance of the car and improves the handling massively I aim to corner weight the car to my weight so i don't have to relly on a passenger
  11. Following my very enjoyable trip to the Ring with Will(will350z) last month i am making a seat available for a like minded interested party who has always wanted to go there but apprehensive to drive there or venture on track. Infact i had a colleague booked but he will not be able to do it now due to other committents. My trip is booked to depart afternoon friday 5th August and return late monday 8th August giving us access to 2 long(0800-1900) touristenfarthen(public track day) on saturday and sunday and will cover. Have another trip in October -Pick up/drop in your home if reasonably close or enroute - Eurotunnel return - Passenger and driving duties to and from the Ring. - Fully comp named driver insure covering europe - Full boarding and lodging and entertainment(drinks )ant the Ringhaus hotel also including x1 dinner at the famous Pistenklaus restaurant at the Tiegarten(co-owned by Sabine Schmidt's mum and herself) - 20 passenger Ring laps with me as you can stomach. - 5 full tuition laps to truly pop your Ring cherry - Visit/guided tour to the Ringwerk and other local tourist attraction as possible - endless possiblity to see and meet entusiast from far and wide - pics opportunity including yourself on track.(by arrangement) - Time allocated for you to shop for booze in calais on return The cost of the trip will be circa £500 which is less than half you would spend if you went on your own and drove your zed there and back and did all the above including 25laps in 24hrs excl track inspection and prepping(full P3+ service, geometry, tryes etc). The cost can be slightly negotiated if you will rather do less activities and focus on the driving only . As Will can attest i have safety first and foremeost in mind and my zed has had no expenses spared when it comes to prepparation for track handling, braking and endurance. He was able to see first hand that the zed is more capable than most here will ever imagine or experience and has focused his mind on what he needs to do to improve his zed. I have no doubts the Ring bugger has beaten him and will be seeing him soon the with his own zed next time In the end he confided he had an awesome trip and was on a high a week after. l am sure he will chip in to add anything i have missed out. PM with interest or questionsrt to the proposed trip. Finally, if you have not less than 3year ncb or have any criminal conviction(drink drive, reckless endangerment etc) need not apply
  12. When you use Performance Friction 01 carbon metallic race compound you will stop to maon about brake dust I gave up after a week. The metalic dust/carbon particles dust are just welded solid to my gloss black wheels and they look mate blackgray now and uniform which is cool except for when they get wet and have rusty streaks
  13. Did these simple mods/upgrades last month before my 2nd trip to the Ring and was fully impressed but have been so busy to post up some impressions . I usually use Motul oils/fluid in the last 3 years but its getting expensive so i asked the oilman(OPIE) for his unbiased opinion and he recommended the following for my P3+ service: - Redline MT90 for MTF - Motul Dexron III for PAS - Motul RBF 660 fluid for brakes and clutch - Gulf competition racing 5W/40 engine oil ( He rates this as good as Motul 300v or Silkolene pro R or similar) - Gulf competition racing 75W 90 LSD oil - Motul inugel for coolant - I also got the braided HEL clutch line as per recommendations from my350z US. - Thanks to Sarah(chilli for the veruspeed oil filter Redline Gearbox oil: The Redline is a revelation!!! Bare in mind i have a Japspeed(40% throw) short shifter and very stubby nismo gear knob with means from cold 1st and 2nd can be very notchy but after the Redline its silky smooth/slick. Gear changes both in cold and on track conditions is just awesome......abit too good, infact is is so easy to slip into the wrong gear during very fast changes As oilman said it is just the most suitable MTF oil for the notchy zed gearbox . Braided Hel clutch line: Took the opportunity to do this ias i was going change the clutch fluid anyway. All i can say is the spongy imprecise bitting point gets is transformed to a crisp clutch action and consistent bite point no matter the abuse. just look at the fat rubber clutch hose and you can see the reason for the difference. I Got the Hels from Andy @ Kudos automotive via his ebay shop.. cheapest on ebay Very easy to fit(20mins incl fluid change/bleeding with the car on a 4 poster lift) The rest: Motul RBF 660 is the dogs in brake fluid technology and maybe Endless RBF 650 could be better but rare to get hold off and you will be pushed to see a demonstrable difference. The rest of the fluids/items have performed faultlessly and as such i have no reservations to use them again. Superpro bushes I was so impressed with the banana arm bushes (see my fitting giude and feedback) that i had to do the upper and lower control arms bushes with camber adjust. i will post a simple guide and more feedback on these later. Jez at Horsham has done a full bushings swap and rates them highly so nuff said.
  14. Hey Jez, only caught this now. Excellent work mate. Will be fitting the front camber adjust upper control arm bushes to increase my camber by .5deg rather than waste money on adjustable aftermarket arms that do not seem to last The OEM arm is light, strong and with a further .5 deg will be near -2deg camber in front which is what i had on the adjustable arm Also have the lower iner arm bush and shock mount bush to fit as i did not manage this last time due to seized ball joint nut. hopefully, preoiling and gentle heat should do the trick this time. I hope to see your setup and discuss corner weight etc this saturday. will give you a bell to know when to catch you. cheers PS it would have been nice to put a pictorial guide of the whole bush swapping just to show how easy it is with the right tools and patience. I am really happy i have gone for a step by step approach though with experience now i will do the rear all at once
  15. Search button is your friend Here you go anyway. viewtopic.php?f=100&t=48037
  16. For what is worth. I have no issues with my Ksport BBK and after 2+years its still going strong and is the best upgrade on my car for track or fast road work. The quality in the calliper and rotor is obvuois and the fitting/tolorances are spot on. Ally this to PF 01 race pads and you have a formidaible combo which has yet to see fade on the Ring and outbrakes lots of "better" brands. I would be hesistant with coilovers because its a different ball game and unless you have big R+D budget and testing on individual vehicles the cheap coilovers tend to be generic and as such not perfect. K sport does other cheap things like camber arms, harness and bucket seats which i would be more inclined to buy. Just my 2p. But in the end there are only a few here who want these things, so it would have to be order only kind of deal. For instance Paul T has had his complete plug and play K sport BBK for sale at a very very reasonable prices of £1200-1300 and its still not sold I would bite his hand off for this as i know what the kit can do!
  17. Nice one Will I can see you have been very productive at work today I got back safe and sound and slept like a baby all day. Got an email from Mike and we are making some plans for July/August. I will have a seat available for you or anyone who wants to have a Nurburgring experience. I think i should offer this as a service It was a good trip and i very much enjoyed your company and calm. I was very happy to get a few complete lap vid after trying for so long so i am so expectant that they show up well I got the Pics from (Mr Kwong - chap from Hongkong) and yet to look at Jorg's website for other pics. Will post up when i got the chance. Catch up with you during the week. Chris, i hope you made the best of your time. Unfortunately you had to go back so early and i never gave you a passenger lap i had so promised myself to give you Anyway next time!
  18. Atleast there is somebody who see things like i do. To keep the costs down you need to do a lot of the work yourself, do your homework and exploit ways to save cash each step of the way like duty etc For eg I got my Scooby up to 550hp for way cheaper than it customarily believed at the time by careful planning. I researched what i needed and started to buy both new and used parts required and was prepared to do some work myself and with help of a friend who was a mechanic of a known scooby tuner down south at his spare time. Yes it took a two weeks for the final engine build and tune but i really only paid for tunning and some appreciation to my mate. For me this is a hobby and not an exercise in wastage so i try and think about what i do and how to achieve it. I have slowly achieved my zed goals with the same approach. I have been on the otherside where i just paid without question on modding previous cars and never was hands on but looking back it was not as fun as now and i would never go back to those ways. I really don't care what some may think as i have done the maths including where to make savings and it adds up
  19. Hey Lexx, was'nt refering to you in particular but i know some tuners have really exhorbitant labour charges bordering on the ridiculous and if you dig around you will find other with even more experience and setup to do anything with reasonable cost to projects like this.
  20. It would be nice to meet our german zed contingent , robhughes, gazhull and thomasoerenson too! I'll send them pm now as they have not been on here for a little while.
  21. Eh Chris i see the fever is coming on now the rush will get bigger as you hit the road the when you finally arrive there gates of the 'green hell'. But as you take on the track you will taste adrenalin in your mouth but after the first lap it will suddenly dawn on you that you have made it and it is not as bad as the rumours then you will begin to relax and enjoy yourself The hardest part was to make the decision to go Just keep a clear head, drive safe and let it come to you.
  22. I don't think its just about getting the fastest car for your money here. Its more like taking the zed to its next evolution With that said a with sorted 400WHP zed ill be a formidable car with looks to match. I had a 550hp scooby and its was not fast round a track! The power was not fully useable the same way a 700bhp R35 is useless whereas a 500-600bhp variant is all round quicker. If the guy wants to spend 15k to achieve this then we must applaud him and provide him with options. personally i think some of the figures bandied around wrt the cost are just plain heresay with real basis. You have to do your research and with clever spending it can be done relatively comparable to the other cars mentioned. A 4.0-4.2l BC stroker kit with sleeves with appropriate software/hardware eg ARP fasteners, metal gasket kit, cams/ reinforced valtvetrain components, UTEC or Uprev will push out ~370FWHP. You then could either go with a moderate boost SC setup or mid/rear mounted fast spooling single turbo to reach a very safe/bullet proof 400-450WHP. Some savings can be had here if you buy used refurbed sc or turbo from our US cousins or even locally when it comes up and some of the non-wearing hardware eg oil cooler kit, wheels etc . You would have to address braking suspension, lightened drivetrain components, FD/LSD etc to complete the package. With carefully spending and labour you can get this in a £10k budget. If you put this in the context of an £6-8k zed you will see that its very cheap as there is no way you will get a comparable sorted R34 eg for that price. The cosmetic side of things can be sorted cheapily with the same shrewd purchase approach and good taste. I would say man go for whatever you want as it is your dosh and dream. You will have loads of fun doing it

    My Le Mans efforts!

Nice but you could do so much more with such talents
