  1. Looking forward to this! Never been the drifting kind or enthusiast but do enjoy a spot of powersliding ever now and then when its a bit greasy and can appreciate the supreme skill it takes to be loose but in control delibrately. I can also relate to what and how you want to achieve your goals and in the end yours will be a big contribution to the forum in general I like your style
  2. +1 I have had the ksport 356mm kit front 8pot and rear 6pot since erly 2009 now married to PF 01 race compund and i can't decribed enough how good this setup is for track use but even for road use its still very good and "behaves" like a road pad. last year i did 5 trips to the ring with never under 20laps per weekend and it never fades. Just gets better with heat it them. As the Zman pointed they squeal occasionally when cold and makes alot of dust so unless you clean your wheels everyday they will be ruined. They are aggresive on rotors but it is an acceptable trade off and i change front rotors once a year and still haven't touched the rear which still have 70-80% of life left Rotors come in at under £300 a pair. Thankfully I have only changed the pads once in my 2years of ownership as they are close to £400 for the 356mm callipers. In all i always recommmend the ksport and commbined with PF 01 race pads is a marriage made in heaven.
  3. Edited my intial post BTW but you got my drift and answered my question Now when do i book my zed for a full underbody make over
  4. keyser, are all those sandblasted parts not going to get surface rust corrosion being exposed without primer? It will spoil all your good work surely in the long run. Correct me if i'm wrong
  5. The RX8 is even worse than that fuel cap sticker Otherwise that zed is very tasty
  6. It just gets better and better every update on your progress Subscribed so i don't miss any update. This is going to be one happy zed at the end of it all Are you going to do a body respray? I think you should consider a zed restoration service in the future
  7. Nice work as usually Anders It was always going to be problem solving along the line until evrything is perfect for years of safe enjoyment you know Did you get the Pathfinder cooling upgrade mod when you were building the engine? cheap and good for cooling of the rear compartment. see: http://www.amsmotorsports.com/shop/ind/ ... grade.html I would also consider a nismo or mishimoto thermostat; cheap insurance Leaving out a larger radiator was an oversight Make sure you get some decent coolant like Motul inugel when installing your rad. Though not related to your temp issues at some point you will probably go for larger wheels/tyres for more traction so a PAS cooler upgrade will be needed. A nismo upgrade cooler or even the GTR cooler(Tube and fin like the OEM or Nismo but much longer with more fins. Should fit bolt on.) will be better and cheaper than the often sold plate and fin type coolers like Stillen's etc which stress the PAS pump further as there is more flow resistance accross the plates. Pm me about the guages and pics of what you have. Maybe interested .
  8. Nice of you to bring back your epic journey with the zed especilly for new members to model their ideas on. I still can't believe you and Nurrish for selling so quickly after going FI Anyway you got your dream come true with the R34 and can see that a well sorted zed is a bloody good drivers car to own BTW did you have any fitment issues(eg interference with the streeing column) with the DC headers and also did you go for ceramics or SS?
  9. Do you have the tanabe midchassis brace in stock. Could be tempted as i can do it sametime as my clutch and solid mounts but i would even prefer pulleys if you got stock now
  10. IMHO redline MT90 just works like magic on the zed. I always had a notchy cold box and notchy 1-2nd even hot and snatchy 5-6th. Spent countless ££ on Motul gear 300 until oilman pointed me to Redline Never looked back and its cheaper than Motul Any synthethic oil rated as per OEM specs works well for the diff. I change mine beofre the track season for security.
  11. As always the choice is finnally yours to make I had a 111R brand new traded against my TVR tuscan and it was the shortest car owenrship i had. Good acceleration and grip but not just enough power. Glorious when the VVTI comes in at 6000rpm though. In the end i got tired of the lotus shuffle to get in and the car is to compromised as an only car even for me and GF then. Let go of it after six months and lost 6K. Bought it 3.5K below "list price" and had a "good" part-ex on my Tuscan I retro spec i realised i was in a hurry to get rid of the tuscan before it killed me and got carried away by the "deal" on offer. I i had to do it again i would have waited and got the supercharged Exige and it would still have to be a second car to make sence So as a second car any lotus will be good fun. the more power it has the better
  12. Saved on my pc this from 2006 but still amazing. It annoying to see such beautiful cars that should have been made Alfa Diva: http://www.italiaspeed.com/2006/events/ ... /2704.html http://www.italiaspeed.com/2006/events/ ... 1/101.html
  13. Used from Motul competion 300v to Silkolene pro S/R (AKA Fuchs titan) and been using Gulf competition since late last year and it has stood up favourably to the other two which are more expensive and at oil changes at 6k it makes a huge saving. It was recommended by oilman himself and so far he has been spot on on evry recommendation for my application. Be cause it currently priced competitively does not detract from its quality, race proven pedigree, fully synthetic ester oil and will continue to use it if the pricing remains competitive. Got it in my engine and diff. Gearbox is Redline which suits the zed gearbox to a tee
  14. I know Rik had some problems on the forum but to say all his kits were bad is a bit unfair. I have his nismo side skirt and rear spoiler and they fitted without drillind or modding, just bonded and using the oem bolts on the bottom. You have to appreciate that making replicas is not easy at all and even Taras did complain of the shocking finish to original Chargespeed kits That said this kit is shocking!! Hope ou get a refund and source better quality replicas
  15. will this do? http://www.restorationramps.co.uk/phdi/ ... ent∂=3 or this ultimate kit http://www.restorationramps.co.uk/phdi/ ... ent∂=2 Not $50 i'm afraid
  16. What aftermarket ARBs do you have? I've got Eibachs and the bush size is 34mm front and 22mm rear which i have swapped to Superpro as they had worn down. Superpro do a wide range of ARB bushes sizes anyway to meet any requirement. Just specify what size you need in your order. Jez would come along to sort you i'm sure
  17. Yup ARB Ok but if you want to go abit further and have adjustability then aftermarket is you answer with Eibach, Hotchkiss etc £250-270 will be for parts only and labour depends where you go but if you are near worcester i can set you with my arage for the cheapest you would get anywhere in the UK. I got Wasso a P3 service ( including ALL fluids changed except brake fluid as this is fresh), the bushes above and braided clutch line in circa £200. And you can get your hands dirty too
  18. With the proviso that the dampenners are ok then replace: - the compression arm bush < £150 - ARB bushes < £40 (if the car is pre 05 then swap the OEM ARBs for post 05 OEM items as this were further stiffenned. eg 17% at the front.) - Droplinks < £80 The above mods will sharpen the car up big time as they are the bushes which take the biggest beating. However all rubber OEM type bushes will depreciate with age and lead to vague handling. I would go with urethane bushes from Superpro. Contact Jez here for discounted price. Zmanalex does OEM type rubber bush replacement for the compresion arm too I have used OEM 2005 ARB cheap for sale if you need them. If you want razor sharp feel/handling beyond even a new zed and money no object then replace all the bushes with urethane items, realign the geo and get good sticky tyres for an awesome handling package
  19. Anders, a cage will always be good investment in a part track car. No need to go OTT a half rear cage and helmet should be enough! There is an electronic board at the entrance which signals caution info on any section of track affected by works accidents etc but this only works if you were going in and saw this! when in you have to rely on early warning from drivers, marshals or the public which sometimes is wanting especially wrt to poorly educated drivers who don't react appropriately to a situation and then it means avoidable secondary accidents happen. The vette will be fine as they where in the tertiary accident. The M3 and one VXR where in the primary accident and the secondary accident was with the E30 m3 the second VXR and white porsche. the vette and Ring taxi M3 where all tertiary players. The rumors are that the Ring works contractors will be made to pay far all the damages and in a cruel twist of fate will have to repair the barrier as well for good measure FWIW the vette was not rented! and that guys is a ring regular! Check out Bridge to gantry website blog which is run by and english chap call Dale who also works for rent 4 ring car rentals. I like the critique he has been making to the Ring management for someytime now and finally it is all happening and i hope the take note and bring forward the changes needed to improve the place. One thing is for sure, it will not close down as it is the life blood of this region and there is too much investment at stake so i expect some positive things next year.
  20. Hi everyone , Hi Luke Not much to add to this eventful TF weekend except that when you go to the Ring you have to count on luck, a well sorted out car and experience of the place I did 5 trips this year and the last 2 were the worst of all my time going there I would put up a seperate post when i can find the time to get everything together but needless to say that the big crash at kesselchen was avoidable if the ring repair guys had shown consideration for the high speed nature of the section of track!!! I arrived at the accident catching a few cars that had gone through the gates before me and it was mad breaking to avoid the white porsche which was in the middle of the road! there was no where to go except the grass and after a few seconds hesitation it dawn on me that other cars will be arriving at high speed so i proceeded to go on the grass on the left and thats when i saw the corvette filling my side mirror and crashing into the porsche and follow shortly by the ring taxi the sound was deafening to say the least. For those who have seen the rear facing video the to VXR had been behind me for most of the lap and i let them pass around metzgetfeld because they were driving to close for my liking and would catch me on the corners but never enough to pass as i could brake later and accelerate out earlier so if i had persisted i may hay been the one to hit the M3 in the original accident In all i got saved by my brakes as i stopped just feets away from the porsche and the fact that i moved into the grass There were many more similar accidents that weekend including a biker and a car in hedwigs hohe and because it was safe i stopped to give first aid and was shocked by the ambulance crew management of the biker when they finally arrived if it was in the UK i would have made sure they never practise again!!! Last month there were even more closures in the TF weekend and a brit living in my hotel lost his life!!! The ring is get really bad and only because of how it is run and managed! yes its a dangerous place....like any motor "racing" event but the combination of poor signaling and lack of electronic/video surveillance are the reason for most secondary accidsents that often result in long closures and loss of life or significant property. A marshal was killed recently for the same reason. 350 million euro where spent developing the Ring and none of this went into the track itself or track facilities eg parking, traffic management etc!! I will not let the crash stop me from going but i have decided next year i will be having a roll cage and use my helmet rather that say if i donot use these it will keep me in check because i am lying to myself I am bloody quick with the zed on that track and i have reached the max potential with my current setup and so i need to throw in semi slicks and a little power boost which i plan to next year so i need to be safer rather than hopeful The next measure will be to avoid long weekends as there is too much trafic and accidents and closures as people get too frustrated of waiting. The final thing they need i the Ring is active driver education!!! the popularity of the place has meant people come from everywhere with very powerful cars and have not even bother to rather safety info about the place and just assume because they have done xxx number of laps on GT4 it will make them good. I see too many of brits just asking for a big crash because they take the place for granted and then its too late!!! To understand what i meant at the top about poor signalling causing the crash here is a vid of the signaling just before the actual crash!!! it was placed after the blind left handed and at 120+ on most 300+ bhp cars you can see what was @destined to happen. Moan: As a result of the massive braking i need new front pads and disc asap rather than on the start of next trackday season and also need a new clutch/flywheel as either one or both is/are gone and the slipping is epic!! Still don't know how the car got back and still driving and slipping Oh well i have got 72K out of a single clutch and 50k of them are mine including Ring trips Need to decide carefully on a replacement while bearing in mind pending power upgrade
