  2. Thanks for more input to this threads TR but you may have overread into bits of my explanations which is for sake of simplicity describing the PCV system as two entities one on each side. Secondly Oil vapour does reduces the ignitability of the A/F mixture in the combustion chamber and hence would act like decreasing the RON value just like adding meth will increase it. This has nothing to do with AFR and I did not suggest that either. I do agree that FI cars are more susceptible but you loose a very small amout of ponies venting blowby to the intake as per OEM setup which is standard on both FI and NA engines. Dblock here with a schematic on how you can naffed a cheap eBay can or what a good can should be designed as. I will be getting my dual can from him and for clarity It just two can adjacent to each other with no communication.
  3. The other question some may ask is why do you need an OCC? Simple reason is to maintain a high quality intake air for optimum combustion and power. The recirculated vapours from the vents effectively reduces your A/F mixture from burning well so the ECU retards timing giving you less power. Almost like running 95 RONinstead of 99. The other reason is keeping the intake path, butterfly valves, intake valves clean as these become gunked up with oil or tarry stuff from burning oil and affects performance of these. Finally you may say why does Nissan not do it OEM. Comes down to cost, emissions and the end user! Cost is obvious as its one more item to add on the production cost. Emission; it's easier just to route the vented air in the intake so it's burnt and "cleaned than adding OCCs or other complex cleaning or catching systems just for the sake of a very small loss in performance! End user; how many of us will like to maintain an OCC. ie checking/draining it considering it will have no regular filling pattern unlike a service schedule! It's for these reasons alot of stuff on modern cars are compromised to fit rules/regs, different climates, fuels and the variety of the end user expectations.
  4. You can install your OCC on either the breather vent(small tube on driver side engune bank going into the plenum) or on the PCV side coming from the passenger side bank into the underside of the zed/intake tube. As you have pointed out most oil vapours comes from the breather side while the PCV blowby is predominantly fuel fumes and very small amount oil vapours. You should connect the pipe from the vent(breather or PCV) into the OCC inlet and another from the OCC outlet to the intake or plenum. So in essence you OCC "catches" the oil vapour and lets cleaner fuel vapour to go into the intake. You can cap the intake or plenum ports and vent to air via a filter but for a non-race car this is extreme and could mess up your engine smooth running as it confuse the already metered air read through the MAF. The single most important thing is to buy a baffled oil catch can which effectly traps and condenses the oil vapour and let the fuel vapour through and it's thus oil you have to drain from time to time. The common hollow OCC which is a majority even branded are hollow a do precious F all!! The vent vapours just go through it with very little catch! I have been looking for a baffled OCC myself for sometime and the ARC would have been perfect but too expensive and rare. Get custom stuff made in the UK is also too rich but I have found a company in the states who do this and are renowned worldwide. I am putting an order for Wasso and me once I get the measurements of the various tube diameters. Pm if interested for details.
  5. I really dont know what the fuss is with cleaning the TB? I use white spirit with a paint brush and do both sides and move the butterfly valve to clean the wall as some gunk always sits there. I then do the TB reset and the car always starts with no issues. I have never cleaned the MAF sensor before so will give it a go In anycase the Breather pipe spews most of the blowby oil into the intake plenum so if you can to clean this up for good then get a baffled oil catch on the breather side and or the PCv for the perfect combo
  6. Did you look at the date the FS was posted Anyway pm him or Alex and they would likely have this in stock

  11. I'm not so sure Will if i'll make this April trip as i got so much to fit and not enough time and some stuff has still not arrived Got to fit -Race seats after modifying standrd seat rails - race steering wheel and wheel boss - Oil cooler kit and oil pan - Subframe and diff bushes - Full fluid service, - front tyres - Front rotors and pads - ? Invidia or millitek exhaust - ???half cage - Dual oil catch cans ETC ETC But i mat just say to hell and go without these and sort it after i come back but i feel unconfortable after last years near miss. The thing is if i stay then i have full fund left to sort the SC by end or April but if i go then it will be till May that my wallet will have recovered for such nonsense Anyway it will be nice to see those of yuu that are going if i'm there its 5-10th April. Will be at the Ringhaus hotel as usual if its reopenned after water damgae during the winter
  12. Finally some positive developments It should hit +450WHP easy when its all firing on all cylinders and NOS/Meth It must be some bodged workmanship from Buster thats come to the fore and will be sorted in no time
  13. Nice one Docwra I have solid mounts waiting to be fitted but have a stillen engine dampner on the car at present also with urethane transmission mounts and it did wonders for the often vague, difficult and imprecise OEM ger change especially under high engine load so i can relate to this. I have been wary of how much NVH the solid mounts will add but with all my suspension bushes urethane and soon to swap my diff and subframe bushes i guess i can't make it any worse In anycase it will be nice if you can add a guide how you fitted this puppies. i may try to DIY as i have afew things to do under the car soon. And if i don't like the solids might give this a go
  14. Nope its permanent only on <2004 cars. There is a pressure sensor on the passenger seat which deactivates the airbag if the weight is less than adult. I cant remember exactly what it is but off the top of my mine i think its 50Kg( so it means a very petite chikita will not activate the passenger airbag Will check and see the full thread onmy 350z or the FSM as it should be covered there
  15. Chin up man its only a small set back This car will be up and running soon and all will be forgotten Looking forwards to the dyno run and numbers
  16. Never bother checking brakes temps as i have no fade or boiled the fluids so presume its doing what it should within operating temps. On the other hand i check tyre temps and pressure like a hawk and since using nitogen inflation the paranoia has died down because after repeated checks i found the pressure/temp persistently stable and predictable. I would recommend nitrogen tyre inflation to anyone(DD or Track toy) and at £4 a pop its a no brainer
  17. Upper plenum SOLD @Asad, there are very 2 or so chips on the bonnet but a few scuffs and scratches from poor storage but these are not deep through the lacquer and should buff out easily. The bonnet has been of tthe car for sometime and moreso it 1 year younger than yours You Can come up to worcester to see it for yourself before you part with your hard-earned £ or take my word for it and arrange pick up. If i have time on the weekend after doing my own bits i will give it a buff with t cut and see what she turns up like.
  18. Feel your pain Gav but that's what you get for trying to swap the zed for a hairdresser's TT You've been awfully quiet mate! What have you been up to? Do you even drive that zed Hold out for 5.5k atleast and goodluck with the P/X or sale I am keeping mine and driving it into the track Will give you a bell if I'm up the black country.
  19. Thanks Chris. Confirms the DIY from my350z.com I am going to use. Off to Maplin on Saturday
