Careful old man

Nice one Ben, it has to be custom to your needs. I was about to get the KW clubsports and by stroke of luck because I had requested rear "optional" pillow ball top mounts the dealer could deliver because it's not available from KW, so I spoke directly to KW and it was very revealing. Long story short the KW V1- clubsports are designed for fast road with increasing emphasis on trackdays but they assume the car is stock in terms of weight, geometry and high performance Tyres. Once you have removed sugnificant weight off the car, changed geometry, slick or semi slick tyres then they strongly recommend the Competition range. 2A and 3A for 2 way and 3 way adjustable respectively. This is the same unit on full time track cars and winners of the famous 24 Nurburgring race! The technology is the same as in the V1-club sports just valved to cater for wider range of springs and road conditions. The body is made from galvanised steel which is stronger and dissipates heat better. Obviously it will have top mounts and reservoirs for racing endurance. It's a bespoke service and the good news is it's not actually much more expensive than the club-sports. It's starts by you calling KW directly and they send you a form you complete about your car suspension mods and corner weights then they build your kit after simulation on theirF1 spec 7 poster jig. They ship it out to you for testing and if you are not happy it can be re valved, springs changed etc to meet your needs. The range of tuning is unlimited and they can also provide race support or live tech support from Germany as all part of the partnership if you buy the competition coilovers. Obvious race support is not free or cheap but phone tech support is. The competition 2A is £18000+ VAT and custom changes cost extra but not stupidly expensive. Eg I had my V3 rebuilt before selling them last year and it cost £536 including VAT and shipping to Germany. For comparison the clubsports is £2125 inc VAT but I found it cheaper at £1870 but if I had actually got the top mounts it would have cost more. V1-clubsports are made with innox for longevity and rust proofing. If you are going to go for the competition then you need to complete all your mods that will after corner weight and geometry first. So once my cage is done and new sc in one it get ordering. At this prices you can't go wrong.

WANTED: CD009 gearbox low mileage or reconditioned
GT4 Zed replied to Boulderman1988's topic in Wanted
I just rebuilt my CD009 box ad it's awesome. I wish I did this's at back instead of looking out for a deal on a used box. The cost will be about the same or less but you have a "new" box instead of a used one you don't know the history of. If I get around to do it I'll do a write up. -
Hi Luke, i withdrew bonnet from sale due to not able to getting a suitable replacement and the logistics of postage. I have sourced my replacement and someone who is prepared to travel so unless this falls through the bonnet is gone.

Did this 2 weeks ago and did realise you guys had done the same. What did you use? I did some searches and came up with an oil based pen paint better that the usual eBay crap and tippex but after using it I don't think it would last. I found this on eBay but it's pricey. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=281676099087&globalID=EBAY-GB

Alex have you used PF compound eg 01 or pagid rs 15 or 29? If yes how does it compared to the car carbotechs 10/12?

I've got my stripping to finish but can fit the cooler but if I were you I focus on sorting the fan first before you drive anywhere far.

Just to give some medical perspective to all this and my 2p as a periodic sufferer. -Local honey or pollen products etc as described works by desensitising you to the common pollen in your area. You need to take it months before to make it effective and it is too late now if you already are having symptoms. - once a day tablets like loratadine, cetirizine are effective and you need to take it regularly to be effective. Note piriton and other similar type tablets are drowsy causing so should be avoided if you need to be alert or at work. They also need to be take multiple times as they have a shorter duration of action. - Adjuncts such as eye drops and nose drops are very useful for relieve irritation to the mucus membranes of these areas. Tbh if you have severe symptoms then you need all three. Beware there are 2 types of nose drops. Steroids and ephedrine like drugs. You can't use the latter for very long as it may lead to withdrawal rebound symptoms. Read the instructions or follow your doctors or pharmacist advice. - some GP can offer you an injection of a very powerful steroid called kenalog but it is not officially licenced in the UK to do so but it's been used in U.S. Etc for ages. You typically would be given the injection before pollen season. It is not for everyone but ask your GP if you could have it if you are a very bad sufferer. - while it is impossible to avoid pollen listen to the local news about expected high pollen count and try to stay indoors or in climate controlled areas and have your eye or nose drops with you for rescue. - taking more tablets than prescribed is a dumb idea! Most of these non drowsy tablets would cause drowsiness at higher doses. Also avoid alcohol when on these. - there are countless other remedies over the counter that may or may not work. Thread carefully, do your due diligence before you spend your money or take them. Personally I rate local honey highly and would recommend this. -Don't spend money getting the branded tablets. The value supermarket tablets have the same ingredients and costs less. Just look under the label for the generic ingredient eg cetirizine. If all fails go and see your GP😜😜😜!

You are right there Andy! No CF bulges in stock. I actually want the vented one😎. -
+1 with Alex. If you are going this far them upgrade all the stuff that will make the handling tunable and therefore better. I mentioned the same with bushes for the diff at least if you don't want to go the full hog with the subframe. This will not improve handling directly but better launches from standing starts or out of corners. You will also need adjustable droplinks if you have not got these already unless you want to keep your coilovers at stock height or very close to stock height. 👀

GT4 Zed replied to P15UL T's topic in Introductions & Welcome Messages
Welcome back Paul! You were really missed! No doubts you will amaze us with your zed as you did in the past. I did look after your CF bonnet well but eventually sold it for a vented one. Shame about the GTR but you will get one again. I've gone through the humbug of a divorce and that put me back some but my GTR dream will happen. -

Power Steering Rack Removal/Installation - Success! ***pics***

Not talking about the bushings mounts. Look at the pic and next to them is that large bolt/port. It's look moist as it has attracted loads of muck around there. Mine has become progressively weepy since I installed the bushes and likely has nothing to do with it but I wondered if there is a gasket/seal within this port that could do with changing? In anycase I'll open it up next week when I get ramp time and see. -
Al DE cars 02-06 use the same spark plugs. As per your service book or search👀 NGK Iridium LFR5AIX-11 is what you need or you can go with Denso iridium which is exactly the same quality and performance. Some people go for the slightly cheaper copper or platinum plugs which I think perform the same just may last shorter.

Can you post me my set of 25mm for testing and feedback. I'm at the Ring this month😜
-
You could get a more powerful battery too. I drive my zed about once every 3 weeks in winter to "blow out the cobwebs" so to speak and had so many problems in the past but not since I over specced my battery to the monster Bosch S5 008 battery. It's a tight fit but everything attaches as per OEM. The car restart even after 4weeks dormant and has full volts every time unlike my M3 which needs to be on a trickle charger if I wouldn't not drive it for a week!

Good job mate! I always forget to take pics and always feel what's the point as not many will embark on such mods 😜 Looking at this pic it seems you have a very small weeping next the mounts. Mine has got even more gungy since I put the bushes last year but not enough to drip. I suspect there is a seal or gasket of some sort behind that bolt but have not investigated this. Anybody can shed some light? -
You took that out of my mouth there. You need a 300hp or 200hp/ton to do it according to the experts. I am happy I didn't get a good run with the zed when sc as it would have devalued the feat and I have the best chance this summer to get there with the addition R888 and a sorted all round suspension. I'm consistently 15-30secs off depending on traffic and frankly don't do very lap chasing for time. It will come when all the stars align. I'm all for sc but don't neglect the other important bits and I fact do all these now so when you go sc the car is ready and you are ready👠To put it in context my zed in NA guise now outhandles and out brakes the E92 but looses out in power but I can extract more out of the zed so I think I'll do similar Ring times but when it was so'ed and when I get my new setup it will be a mauling! Secondly I really drive the M3 at 6-7/10th while the zed gets thrashing. It a combination of supreme confidence on the mods I've done and value. I always see it a disposable asset.
