Just saw this Was going to put up a post to gauge interest myself Been going there since summer 2008 and on about +100 laps now with regular sub 8:45sec bridge to gantry time(best time 8:15) with my zed. I was going to post up my eventful trip of October 2009 but got discouraged writing up as i lost the video i had taken by car behind me! Anyway i am prepared this year and have got my bullet cam and the zed is in better shape as all the suspension and brakes upgrade has been completed and just a few more thing on the engine side and it will be perfect. Anyway as it seems there is reasonable interest from within it might be a good idea to start a list and and vote on a date which will get the best turn out! IMHO a bank holiday week is usually the best time for a group though i usually plan midweek trips to avoid the busy weekend tourist days! My first trip will be at the end of April and i hope to make 4 trips in total this year There are hundreds of resources relating to the ring and getting/staying there. I volunteer to gather these up and collate to a new thread with definitive list and travel info. But in the first instance i feel we should start off here first with the interest. Some Links(feel free to add ) http://www.nuerburgring.de/en.html http://nurburgring.org.uk http://www.northloop.co.uk/index.htm http://www.nurburgring.co.uk http://rsrnurburg.com http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nürburgring List Name Preferred dates 1-GT4 zed-------------------------------- May bank holiday or any other group date 2-?Zed John 3-?Rob-Hughes 4-?Glenn 1981 5-?Roo 6-?Wizard 7-?Anubis 8-?swooper 9-?Sleg 10-?Thomasorenson

Mine is fine but had issues on my first zed. so just stripped/prepped it and resprayed with matte black paint from halfrauds and was very chuffed with the result Changed the blades to the flat bosch aero ones to complete the "upgrade" With the stealers you will have to buy 2 and i can but they are'nt cheap. those clown tried to sell me a single bolt for £4. i got a 8 in SS from Halfrauds for just over £3

Just like Nixy and others said, the zed is fun in all weather and all the controls are weighted just right like a good sportscar/GT should be. Infact it punches well above its weight your comments and reactions suggest that you liked the looks but expected something else from it. It may also reflect on your lack of experience with performance at the level and its no bad thing! If all the baggage that come with the car are not for you and you want to split now then so be it! Cragus will have your exhaust in a flash and you would have missed the opportunity to discover something wonderful come good weather You will also loose some dosh and regret you did not give it a go! My zed is always dirty because i treat it like a race car but i love it to bits and it rewards me plentiful Goodluck with any course of action mate

I always found it hard to pronounce let alone remember all the bends on the Nurburgring-nordschliefe So this is a fantastic link from Ben Lovejoys popular and resourceful website! i just saw it today though i have been trawling it for info since summer 2007 . It gives you the history(sometimes dubious) behind the names, their meaning and theres a lap with the bends fading in and out to help you remember http://nurburgring.org.uk/bendnames/index.html

No flash mate, back firing LED's send info pleeeeeeeease Nice Fiddy, please post a frontal view with only LEDs on and with dipped beams. Husky, should i be thinking what i'm thinking?
-
I have similar Offsetted 19"s. Front is Ok but can take a 5mm spacers if you want a very flush fit. Rear offset means you need 15mm spacers. you could get away with 20mm if you use the 275 tyres. Falken tyre are fine, but 285 is better and you profiles will be better as 35 all round if you go with 275, but 30 if 285! However at £1400+ there are better combo's out there

I agree, it does seem strange. Perhaps the tolerances on oem suspension parts are pretty liberal! Beats me too ...........its possible that the only reason they have no trouble is because they don't recheck the geometry after lowering or they never take the car close to the limit to healight alignment issues or just donot do enough miles to see the accelerated inner tyre wear from running excessive neg camber On a seperate note; i have been experimenting with a new set up for my rear and can't seem to dial-in the desired toe-out for any given camber less than -2deg as it stops at .5deg toe out no matter what i do so it looks like i will have to get adjustable toe arms to give me more flexibility! Also with the front i can only get the Ichiba arms to dial-in not lower than -1deg 45mins camber(its ok on my current settings but it means i can't get within stock alignment if i chose to!). You can get up to -3deg easy though:lol: No problems with range of toe adjustments:thumbs: Anyone experienced this or has answers to the above! sorry if this slightly detracts from the post though relevant IMHO

Use the secondary rear hatch release which is located eccentric(towards passenger side) on the underside of the rear strut brace to open. You can investigate from there once its open (Go to page 3-10 of your user manual for illustration if unclear)

Give Husky a pm. I think he is considering selling his 19" hiro or something that looks exactly similar

Looking spot on Steve. Its all comming together nicely i like the wing and probably need one to make the rear stick! i am still struggling with set up high speed and will be doing some tweaking again tomoro so don't be surprised with some pm's your way i have the hDVR 720 from dogcam which i got at autosport for £190 and could lend this to you until you get a recording equipment or when i am going to the Ring in summer! It will be really nice to see you race with on board shots so we can shared your experience. Anyway i will come and see your first race at list cheers

Had same issues and slighty notchy droping down the box in track conditions or fast road work a while back but this was been cured after i changed the gear oil for Motul gear 300. Also changed diff oil as i was so impressed. Now EVERY fluid in the car is motul However, there is a small stiffness when very cold which as everyone knows it's normal for the zed but i usually drive off only after the engine is up to temp

+1 sorry mate. Just put it behind you as a bad call which will never happen again

This will be kick ass on our roads

This clutch / flywheel issue in my opinion is a can of worms that needs addressing for sometime now! It is uncommon to need a clutch change under 40k on the zed unless you have no mechanically sympathy or drag or track the car endless which is understandable accelarated wear and tear. This is not hot air but coroborated by nissan and exedy. i had a long chat with the Exedy representatives at autosports at the NEC and it is very clear that the flywheel is more than capable. For US here when the time comes to replace clutches there is always the question of: Do i need to replace the flywheel too! My answer is catergorically NO unless there is proof it is damaged and not salvageable! yes some issues can sorted and the same unit reused safely! The dual mass OEM flywheel is very good and sturdy and almost always outlasts the clutch so unless you want to lighten the driveline for obvious reasons of increased responsiveness there is no need to change this as is often the case! The second issues is, since you will be changing the clutch anyway you need to decide what you plan to do with the car in the near future so you can save yourself so cash on double labour/parts. If FI was your plans then and you know what power range you will be shooting for then it may be better to go for multi-plate stuff which have in-built flywheel at once but ofterwise the OEM spec clutch made by Exedy is perfect for all NA zeds with or without mods So the real question comes down to the single mass flywheel. My personal opinion is that the single mass flywheel has more drawbacks than benefits and most people get them because they are told they need to change for them with the clutch at the sametime either because dealers/traders want to make a sale or erroneously that lightenned singlemass flywheel will make their zeds more powerful or faster! Yes it will improve responsiveness but the effect is marginal especially in NA tune as oposed to spending that money on an uprev reflash or better brake pads or disc or tyres or even the D1 spec controller for that matter . You can also do alot more effectively with short shifters or changing final drive (e.g 3.9) for more accelaration or response and have a very driveable car without vibration and chatter with high bitting point = stalling which you get with the single mass item! However if the single mass flywheel fits your style/objectives and you are going into it with your eyes open then thats cool. I think fitting a clutch should be tackled by somene who has experience with these and on the zed, if not horror stories will abound. I know CS gets the job done and a few others here Finally, it is worth having someone else have a go with you can to see if your clutch is "gone" or if you need education as these things do happen especially to noobs on the zed . There is a long list of trouble shooting/FAQs on Exedy's website which are quite helpful. (http://www.exedy.co.uk/index.php) just my 2p worth

Where it all began! Fast and Furiously

Matte black for me. This is my inspiration
-
+1 You should be able to do then yourself mate invest in tools. It will cost less than the fitting costs! i have just done a full suspension adjustment/fitting with coilovers/ droplinks and front upper camber arm and service this week using axlestands and hydraulic jack and my only difficulty was dealing with the cold
-
Ok Sneaky you're on mate i told you i did not think there has been any damage but i fill a check is just peace of mind but if you are confident and will go ahead and tune then you know i got your back Are you selling the iridiums since they a virtually brand new someone will snap them up!!! PS: did you bring the spacer to work i can pick it up later as i will be going to stourbridge this pm!

Dan, all i was getting at is that at the end of the day Dave have sweated his socks off for the whole install but like it or not he is no professional so somethings may have fitted suboptimally and can lead to reliability issues or failure late secondly because we know for sure that the car ran dangerously lean for a while it is right to assume it could have led to the current misfire so to be safe check compression is adviceable. All the other things i mentioned are just to highlight potential issues that i can see and i have said this before that getting the garage that is going to tune the car crosscheck everything first is the lesser evil as any problems can be picked up and a second set of eyes is better! It will cost 1-2 hours labour but that is cheaper than a blown engine. The biggest cost is the install which he has admirably done to the best of his ability Once these issues are cleared then tuning can begin and through the process of elimination you can say if the UTEC or Uprev or any other thing is the problem. The experiment that Dave has just carried out is completely unscientific as there are so many variables and is not interpretable. i even consider it dangerous at best as it could lead to more damage! this is exactly what i meant by taking a methodical step towards trouble shooting rather than distarct him with so many ideas said in good faith but without substance. One thing is certain there is a misfiring code on ALL cylinders hence back to my original suggestion Finally, the call is with Dave and if he decides to tune and dyno the car now with the firm belief that the problem is a tuning one then so be it. but that is his call
