  1. I have only read this thread now and thouigh it is dissapointing to have won a zed with issues, but from all i can gather will be a doddle to fix at practically little cost so i would worry too much or make a hasty decesion to sell. At the end of the day it is a free car and hence better than anything in my book There has been many great suggestions already and you should have a methodical approach in sorting the issues. You have to aim to sell-off/swap some stuff you don't particularly like oe care for off the car to raise cash or swap against parts which are more pressing. eg the 20" wheels, tuning bits etc. Obviously the engine/mechanicals would come first then the cosmetic and so it would be really nice to have someone/garage who know the zed well to look at it and advice you what needs to be done rather that the "generalist" RAC chap who will earn £290 for his troubles and still leave you in the lurch Is there no perfomance garage by your area? I know someone in Stevenage who might be able to help but is very busy but i can rope him in to help FOC. Give me a pm if you will consider this. cheers
  2. im sure we did this already, where did that list go? yep been done and i do believe gt4 zed has even guestimated on it as well Yep it was done before.................but was there any prizes to be won? Also i specified WHP because there will be an endless argument on FWHP as we never agree on drivetrain losses
  3. You will only drop max 25mm but likely 20mm with Eibach pro-spings. I donot rate the the other stuff at all eg gmax, spax weitec etc though Tannabe, Tein H&R maybe ok Moreso if you hae issues then it will be wise to get rid of it or find another solution rather than assume you will be rub everytime
  4. woooooooooohoooooooooo There will be prizes for closest guestimates of the final WHP and Tq figures Prizes TBA Name WHP Torq(lb/ft) GT4 Zed 386.5 344
  5. yes, you will have to swap the whole unit which can be accessed after removing he gear suround section which is clip-on the unit is also clipped on and is plug and play What sliding compartment are you talking about? do you mean the cubby? whats in yours at present. Anyway if its the cubby you can buy these secondhand or new from the stealers
  6. There should be no "real" issues except that : - you will loose the protection to the midsection which is the lowest area underneath the car - you will loose some chasis bracing too Don't know how much its contributes but i will rather a stiff chasis than a wobbly one I agree with spacing in your case as your zed is standard height and will not make too much of an isues with sensible negotiation of bumps as opposed to buying a new midsection when it breaks unprotected
  7. Just seen the pics............nice looks from here that i was right about the crossmember being removed! i hope they gave it to you The bumper is out of shape and if it was never like this then it will be related to the exhaust if not it the "clips" have not been put back on Yes, there are 2 metal sleeve" comming from both edges of the bumper between the exhaust and these stop the free edge to do what you care seeing in the pics. the are fixed by a bolt and nut which pass through a longitudinal slit on the "sleeve" and as a result you can adjust the position of the free middle edge of the bumper to normal or even higher to give you a bumper "tuck" look Hope this helps
  8. Welldone Ian for taking the plunge with the K1 Its like having two exhaust for the price of one Sometimes the mid-section rubs on the W-shaped crossmember and spacing this with 2-3 washers sorts this out i did the same but frequently scraped it on speed humps so took out (mind you my car is 35mm lowered ) The final solution was to heavy wrap the area that rubbed with exhaust heat wrap so though it touch there was not resonance from metal to metal contact There is a bit of low frquency vibration/rumble under hard acceleration which is very much like a race car so i don't mind
  9. The first time i saw this mail years ago i bought into the idea and have always used tesco 99 or shell Vpower since However the issues are more than just demand vs supply, high Uk taxes, weak pound etc but a complex interplay between these and mostly due to Labour's fault. The tories may well redress this but shaft us in other areas which i will not mind (Mind you i have voted labour since i left uni and thats a longtime ago but now i am disillusioned).......................................................................................................................... Ok i'm ready for the flamming
  10. +1 Always liked that front lip
  11. Welldone mate looking forwards to everything unfolding
  12. This is insane but i have crazier ideas if the numbers come up ................ Just imagine a road-legal fully functional 500-600BHP NA carbon clad tubular-framed fully race specced zed just for weekends at the Ring/regular tracks
  13. you have to choose what you want at the end of the day mate. i posted up a list of cheap common mods above, but "cheap" is relative and your inclinations will be different. Some people want performance while others looks Get to your regional meet or look through pics and galleries and readup and make up your own mind. The wales meet in May would be ideal to see many cars in the flesh in one go
  14. When you lower it the top will sink in side due to increase in negative camber and this also happens dynamically when vehicle is mobile so it will not rub or be illegal It maybe a case of using a 15mm spacer then but the only way to know is if you look up th ET stamped inside the wheel i think it was 35mm but the wheel was 19" on further recollection
  15. It is brand new boxed. This is the 22mm screw type and it fits tried it with nurrish present Maybe parting with it because i can't get myself to make a hole in my newly installed Alex grill The whole fronts looks mean and stealth black and the red tow may be a distraction but i will have a final decision on sunday at the midlands meet
  16. I have a few querries before taking out my black Ksports BBK callipers out for blasting and powdercoat The powdercoaters have booked me in for next week and they want me to remove the pistons and any rubber part before sending it to them. My question are: - Once i disconnect the braided line from the caliper How can i prevent the brake fluid from leaking completeley or creating an airlock? - I've been told to use an air gun to pop out the pistons is that safe or is there another way as i donot have an air gun at home? can i cover up the the pistons or is the a risk from shot blasting or baking? - When refitting i want to take the opportunity to change the brake fluid. (Motul RBF 660) is it a case of flushing the old fluid out through each nipple while topping the new fliud constantly to prevent any lock or ? - Any other advise will be usefully if you know about this Cue Zmanalex. - Finally what do you guys think of yellow callipers peering through black wheels? (Like a Lambo or Porsche )
  17. I called AUTOGLASS out to look at a very minor stone chip mark ...the guy said they never do polishing cos it changes the optical qualities of the glass No...... not to polish.........if i was calling them out it will be for a replacement
  18. Missed the point slightly mate. Coilovers will not fix a poorly aligned car But once all is said and done and he decides to go for uprated suspension i think your coilovers offer a lot for the money without a shadow of a doubt BTW are these developed specificall for the zed? i wish i knew about this before selling my HKS RS coilies for KW var 3 What are the spring rates and level of adjustability?
  19. Who did you use ? I'm a bit frightened of a DIY result too ... no comeback on that is there I have some bad scratches too on my windscreen after using an abrasive cloth to removed some stuborn tar deposits its quite bad in the night and was planning to give autogalss a call via my insurance claiming it was cracked or vandalised but i will try the T-cut glass and if that fails will give the pros a call Shout out if you go this route straight away so we know the results and prices
