Have used HKS since last year when we confirmed on live mapping that the OEM airbox with HKS consistently out performed the Short RAM setup(i had AEM installed as short ram) by almost 30deg on spirited runs. The AEM installed as full kit was just a few degrees down on the OEM setup plus HKS filter and because fitting it meant i had to loose my passenger side windscreen washer i got rid it . Using the HKS has been fine and i change it every 6 months because i believe every filter after prolonged use will become clogged and i am not keen on the cleaning and re-oiling the filters It is also worth pointing out that while that test has obvious limitations with no control group its cannot be used to extrapolate the performance of panel filters from these manufacturers. Also Apexi does not make panel filter for the zed AFAIK. The HKS super hybrid panel filter is a dry filter etc

offers considered

I know what the CJM stage 0 is and just did not remember if it came with the FMU Anyway all this stages are different with each manufacturer and its all cleared up as i have rechecked the components myself I did mention i was feeling lazy It may have been nicer to clarify than to pull my leg though
-
Easy tiger...........just checking You are great and thought of everything .....just don't remember seeing the FMU............ and walbro in the thread. Also now checked GTM site and these are included in their stage 2 kit Thanks IanS16 for comming to my rescue
-
congratulations Ian you have done it mate! I just just gone through the build to see that you have not missed anything apart from the odd bolts and i still have querries on the fuelling side of things There is the DW inj to be fitted by Abbey and you have got the CJM stage 0 system in which effectively converts the OEM to a RFS However i did not hear mention of a fuel pump & FMU The OEM is limited to 165lph i think and if you are aiming for 370 WHP that might just be too close to or above this performance range and surely a walbro 255lph pump is cheap insurance Or presumably this included in the GTM stage 2 kit ?(too lazy to check their very slow website )

you will have no problem in getting a car of that spec here or elsewhere provided you are not fussy on age or mileage. Someone here got a well kept/FSH bronze UK 03 plate with about 40K for just about 9K from a dealer

PMSL Stew you have outdone yourself

Or you can get some adjustable racing seats and install them on super low rails

Hi Ian, longtime mate I think you got me wrong i said not to go for the single mass and organic clutch combo and i still maintain this! I will only go for this as last resort. You input will be appreciated though
-
Thank you Rich, most helpful. I had a look when you first mentioned and will give DMS a call on Monday too, but i doubt that the discount is still on It is exactly like the Exedy hyper single and give you a very streetable feel, tons of response and no chatter like the organic clutch + fidanza combo. If we can set up a group buy with either kits i will not hesistate. I think the SC guys should look at this as they will be needing clutches soon unless they will not really drive the car which is a shame

you are right on that one milady

i give up I have cover 57K miles now and 35K are mine. My driving is fine and very smooth After 4.5years and some hard use in the last 2 i think its natural to expect it to go now I have had some very go input from Alex and i might go for a stage 2 clutch kit, first choice: Exedy Hyper Single Carbon Clutch Kit second: Jim Wolf Technology (JWT) Clutch + Flywheel Combo or the ACT equivalent Third: As last resort the Exedy organic +fidanza fly The Exedy stage 1 organic clutch and fidanza combo is Ok but its too close to my performance envelope! The max torque is 300lb/ft and when you consider that my torque after remap is 285lb/ft and i have wider & stickier tyres, full 14" BBK, stiff suspension setting and a 40% throw short shifter this shortens the life of the clutch

I know Nix but i need sympathy right now

No Stew, but actually its a council sanctioned area for such meets and there was enough room to do this These lads are at it all the time and its all good fun and organised and conducted safely and so my actions where not iresponsible All i did was to report a problem and the circumstance, but now i am being judged
-
Yes Anders, thats what i do anyway but i am concerned about the cost of 100RON fuel will be in Adenau as thats what i usually use for the Ring itself Calc.........25laps = 350miles and @ 10-15mpg its not very good
-
Ok Ok OK enough guys, you should not kick a fellow when he is down First of all is was not a chavfest as you seem to think More likea gathering of young 25-30yr old in blingy 330ci , Audi TT, Z4 and a few jap stuff including a non turbo auto supra i think. Anyway a car is meant to be driven and enjoyed not mollycuddled so i accept all blame as i will be responsible for fixing it However, would want to make it clear that i am not a road racer or iresponsible though i do enjoy spirited A/B road driving in good weather every now and then and i take all my business on the track as you can witness by my choice of mods or seen for those who know me Anyway before i jump into replacing my kit with the ubiquitous exedy organic clutch and fidanza flywheel (cue Zmanalex or CS), i would appreciate some advice on other available options. I need a kit to last for the next 18 months or so.(ie circa 20-30k miles +/- 6-8 Ring trips). I am seriously considering the Exedy hyper single clutch (flywheel included with this kit) but its over 1K. But if i have to change the Organic kit twice in 18-24months then the cost are almost the same or more including double labour

what is the world comming to I filled up with Tesco 99 at the cost of £87 yesterday before murdering my clutch At this rate going to the ring is becomming very expensive
-
I was just representing or recruiting future zedders

My clutch is buggered and just not at the right time with barely 4 weeks before my first Ring trip for this year I had notice a small slip for sometime now but thought it still had a lot of life left But today i went out to the local "Max Power vs dub" meet on the insistence of some lads i met in the car pack at my Tesco. i was at a loose end, the weather was good and i was itching for some action so obliged Once we got there it was obvious that the zed was the top dog And they had never heard an unrestrained K1 in anger They "begged me to show off more of her assets and since i have little life in the rear MPS2s left, i proceeded to do a few burn outs, power slides and half attempted donuts to the general cheer of the gathering . I stayed for only a little bit as then left as the attention was becomming too much and took the scenic/long way back home and that when it hit me that whatever life was left in the clutch had been expended Its just slip.. slip... slip as i tried to accelerate on every roundabout or light . I have done the fourth gear test and it just confirms it I knew this would happen at some point but i really hoped it could wait till July when it could be the only job to do before my secong Ring trip but i am buggered now! I already have a big list before this May trip: -Oil cooler and extended oil sump -Gates racing aux and ac belts -Brake duct cooling kit -Full whiteline bushes and rear bushe subframe upgrade -Redo track specific setup for the Ring -Set of MPS2 -Full fluid service(oil/coolant/gearbox/diff/brake/PAS) then now a clutch and flywheel combo .........................Some stuff will have to go
