Did you paint it like that? Like your wheels

Halfrauds cheapo Ripspeed one. Crap reception, but I quite like the look of it. It come with three height options too....! Good or what!

Sorry - hope I haven't inadvertently hijacked this thread - just that part of the OP's problem seemed similar to mine so thought I'd chip in

LOCKWOOD & GREENWOOD Audenshaw, Manchester Another EXCELLENT service. P2, discs and pads fitted all round, bled clutch, front tyres fitted and a couple of other 'niggles' sorted. Great service and the guys take the time to chat about the car, make recommendations and they also went the extra mile with little things - eg, tightened handbrake without request, wash and vac, etc... And - forum discount! Car feels great. -
Hi, Just got my car back from a service - they had a look at my passenger window problem. Couldn't see anything wrong with it mechanically, however they did recommend regular cleaning of the channel and some lube (WD40 is fine) to hel the window operate. Of course you will then need to clean the glass! Seemed okay on the drive home. Might not be the answer, but see if it helps in your case.

Hmm... interesting point, although I haven't had any issues with marketing or junk mail etc... Not that bothered about the money itself to be honest - rather the satisfaction of 'beating the house'. Fully agree with your second point though!
-
Ah well. Back to work then...
-
Yup but that's 3x the nagging about 'wasting' money on shiny things for Zed...!

I wonder how many people win a grand a year? I reckon I could think of 20 low effort ways to make £50. #2 Join YouGov - fill in enough 5-10 min surveys and get a cheque for £50. 18 to go!
-
Got my ma an MP3 player - she's chuffed with it anyway...! Yeah I reckon the holidays are def bogus - since they have 5000+ available on each card!

This isn't a scam or anything, not clever enough for all that! It's more of a pointless ramble about how to make very little money, but I'm lonely and I just love the principle of it... Scratchcards... for once the small print is worth reading. Example: You get scratch card in newspaper (usually from a company called Purely Creative). You throw in bin (sorry, recycle). or you scratch or panels to find you have three monkeys, or whatever. Wow - big win! Probably not. To find out you have to ring number or send text. You get text back 3-4 times costing £1.50 a go, or equivalent phone call. So it costs you about £9 to find out you have won a minimum of £10. Minus cost of stamp to send claim (2nd class =30p). Not worth it. Profit = 70p BUT Read small print, write letter to company asking for claim number. Wait one month, get claim number, fill in card, send back. Wait one month, get cheque for £10. Bank. Minus cost of 2 or 3 stamps. Profit = c. £9 Plus they even send you more scratch cards so you don't even have to buy a paper! I do this on a rolling basis and bag around £50 a year. People don't do this because they don't have the patience to find out if they have won or can't be bother to write a letter. I have patience. One day, three monkeys WILL buy me turbo.

Let me guess - Star Performers win tyre of year for Jap cars? EDIT - whoops, too late!

I'm having a similar problem - but only the passenger window. Works sometimes, sometimes doesn't - fortunately it's only getting stuck in the up position. I'll investigate further tomorrow to see if can shed any more light on the issue. Only started doing it since I had my clutch changed...weird

Star Performer 245/45/18. Cheesy name says it all...Anything but is all I can say. Okay - so before I get any abuse about putting cheap sh!tty tyres on my beloved Zed please let me explain Firstly - they weren't cheap - in fact they cost me more than Toyo Proxes, which I usually get. I was caught out by a slow puncture (screw stuck in) which was too close to the wall to repair. This was on a Thursday. On Friday, I was driving from Salisbury to the Isle of Skye (north of Glasgow fab drive - another story...). So, do I risk driving over 1000 miles round trip on a punctured tyre, or get the only ones in stock at the only place open (National Autocentre, nothing wrong with the service I got) which were the aforementioned 'Star Performers'. Sadly, and crying as they were mounted, there was only one safe choice. They were crap - and this was after 200 easy motorway miles to break them in mind. Even on road as dry as Ghandi's flip flop, the back was all over the place, even on gentle slip roads! etc... In the wet, my Zed's arse wasn't the only one quivering! Worse thing was - I was hardly able to enjoy the drive to Skye, which I had looked forward to for months, because this rubber was scaring the sh!t out of me. So - to sum up the obvious, don't buy these. They are in my garage as emergency spares - I wouldn't even insult anyone by trying to sell them on. Silver lining - picked up a couple of rear Proxes on fleabay for £160, done less than 500 miles!!

Gave a quick rub down with Autosol before the snaps! Love that stuff!

I have the same year car as you and I went for the IKH16 ones; no problems, very happy with them - even put them in myself! Sorry I can't provide a more technical argument to help you choose - I've not tried the power variant, but I recommend the IKH16

Finally got round to posting up some pics and even a clip! Might have had the camera a bit too close, but you get the idea. Cheers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HacSJ2qGFoY

Thanks Husky - well I guess I wrong about there being a mixed opinion!!! I wonder if anybody has ever thought of selling the actual tyres in different colours, what with the unbridled strive for individuality. I might take it to the Dragons Den... just to hear Duncan Bannatyne eyeball me and say "this is b0ll0cks, I'm oot!"
-
Has anyone ever thought of using one of those white (or other colour) marker pens to fill in the brand name on your tyres, as in the example below? I've only really noticed it on racing cars, some American muscle cars, but never seen any car on a UK road with it. I anticipate mixed opinion...!

Friday drive home - GM '57 plate passed me on the M40 - thumbs up offered; friendly wave returned and then changed places a few times. Cheers!

Welcome mate, Nice ride - and the best thing is - the feeling don't go away! Enjoy!

Hi mate, I just moved into my first house a month ago and have since painted 3 rooms (not as much fun by the third...). Most emulsions covered a multitude of sins, so if your walls are in good nick surface-wise, you should be okay with one coat. I didn't wash mine at all and they turned out fine - although I was going from light colour to dark. Other tips - don't buy cheap rollers and brushes like I did at first. Job takes twice as long. If you mask anything, use low-tack tape. Unscrew light switches etc and paint behind them - looks better than trying to go around. Same with radiators. When you paint round door frames etc using a brush - after applying the paint, lightly skim across the surface with the very tip of the brush - hardly touching, this will 'lay off' most of the brush lines leaving a smoother finish. Sorry if any of these seem obvious - I sort of learnt as I went along! Hope this helps

Cheers mate, much appreciated Probably some time next week.

Thanks Alex - The mechanic did say that the hardest part of the job was bleeding the system, and getting the new clutch line on. Perhaps I could bleed the system again to see if that sorts it - I'm guessing there is a DIY guide on here somewhere?

Hey folks, I recently had my clutch and flywheel replaced (done roughly 70,000) - standard Exedy and dual mass flywheel - and while the clutch pedal is nicely lighter, it's become more difficult to shift down into 2nd and 1st when decelerating. Also, I feel a very slight 'burr' at the bottom of travel of the clutch pedal when accelerating and shifting up into 4th and 5th. I wondered if these are issues with the fitting, or something I'm doing wrong? Anybody had similar? Everything else with it seems fine. Thanks for any help. Steve
