  1. Yeah I think so - but I think even a couple of coats of that can go a bit shiny. Guess it's better than no protection though.
  2. Well I've got the whole weekend to myself so decided to spend today doing something about my unsightly stone-chipped front lip; It will certainly do until I can afford an upgrade! Decided to go matt black - I appreciate I'm not the first to do so! Sandpaper, primer and paint from Halfrauds: Work in progress: Colour coating finished: The light is failing and the paint is still soft so I will refit the bumper tomorrow and post up the finished results! ps - not sure what to do about lacquer/protection - don't want it to go shiny. Any ideas? Cheers
  3. Cheers for the input guys. But it's honestly nowt to do with my missus - we've been together over 4 years and she's never once tried to sway me. It will purely be my own decision. Anyways, I'll think on. Will let you know how long I last...!
  4. I exercise quite a bit and don't want my fitness to suffer - one of the main things stopping me going for it at the moment. My missus a veggie too and we've just moved in together! She's okay about me eating meat though - I can see her getting a bit edgy when I'm doing bacon butties though!
  5. Still doing my homework on that. I think you probably can get everything you need, but looks a lot harder to do, and to make sure you don't miss out on iron, etc...
  6. Good question, I guess there are different stage or degrees of vegetablearianism. I don't think I could convert overnight. Giving up meat wouldn't be a that massive an issue for me, I don't really eat that much of it anyway. Giving up dairy would be much harder for me though. And yeah, I'd miss fish too!
  7. Do they have a forum?!? Maybe I should ask on there - I can see the general momentum of opinion here is somewhat against the idea...just a bit...
  8. Plants have feelings to eh?
  9. Surely meats will be off the agenda
  10. Well I'm pushing 30 so it certainly won't be a fad thing, and its not to try and look nuevo-eco or whatever the phrase is. Tbh, I won't go into my reasons as I don't want to spark a big debate - but they are genuine. Just wondered if anybody had done the conversion, and how they found it.
  11. Don't worry , this not a fuel related post. I'm thinking of going vegetarian, maybe even vegan eventually, for various reasons. In fact I've been quietly considering it for some time but just haven't taken the plunge yet. Has anybody on here done this? Would be glad of any advice, cheers!
  12. Where do you get those?! I want one!
  13. Hey there, had a long, all expenses paid holiday in Iraq myself - and can't stand guys who use it as an excuse to act like total sh!ts to thier sweethearts. Cowardly. Zed will never let you down
  14. Hi mate, Hope you get this sorted - I think you're showing a lot of integrity and trying to do everything correctly. Fair play for keeping your cool with people like that. Despite all the good advice on here, the only people you definitely tell you what will happen to your excess and so on is your insurers. Best to just keep open communication with them. The main thing is that you have evidence - even with the fuzzy pic of his plate I reckon the police would easily be able to confirm the vehicle. Needless to say I'd love to see the guy who bumped you get his comeuppance. Good luck
  15. It's a bluetooth adaptor. You should be able to pair it to your phone and it allows you to use the in-car speakers/steering wheel controls. Or you can flog it!
  16. It called Barclaycard Freedom - you earn money on transactions at certain places (Shell is one of them) and you can redeem the on other things. Mind you, you are then paying a wee bit of interest on your fuel unless you clear balance every month...
  17. Personally I think people can read too much in to mileage - but I appreciate that it can affect resale value. I've racked up 30K in 2.5 years or ownership. I even considered buying an old banger to get me about to keep Zed mileage down, but then the Zed basically becomes a very expensive toy and I'd have to start considering which journeys I should or shouldn't use it on. My Zed will definitely hit the 100K mark under my ownership, but I'll have loved every mile of it. And if the car is well looked after and properly maintained then I see no reason why it won't do another 100K! Of course, it depends on how those first 100K have been conducted!
  18. V-Power card here too. Plus purchase on Barclaycard which has a linked points system. Everything has linked reward points these days in order to get customer loyalty. Choose your poison and get whatever card goes with it.
  19. I think at the least they have to take you to a garage. Not sure they'd get away with making people do their own repairs!
  20. There is no legal obligation to carry a spare wheel so I guess it can't be held against you if you don't have one. Where the breakdown guys take you depends on the policy you have. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer as to people's choice to carry it or not; everybody got their reasons.
  21. I've ditched mine - more boot space, less weight (plus rarely drive with more than half a tank), mpg... If I get a puncture then I would call my breakdown guys. I pay them to save me. As for poor phone coverage etc... I'm happy to take that risk and I'll just deal with it if and when it gets me in the sh!t. Meh!
  22. All looks okay there mate. It is well worth the effort to get that plenum shiny. I was pretty nervous the first time I took it off too, but you will be fine after you've done the procedure once through and find that your car is still okay afterwards. Just double check all bolts and hoses afterwards. That hose you asked about - I forgot to reattach it once. My first roundabout was more interesting than normal...

    God Dam Brakes!!!

They must be accepting some liability for this else they wouldn't offer any discount at all. The mechanic who inspected and 'repaired' it the first time you went in has been, from what you've described, at best careless and at worst negligent. You have driven away from a repair to your brakes, which have subsequently become unserviceable with terminal damage to the discs. The 'closer inspection' that you mention should have been done in the first place. I would definitely pursue a full repair at their expense. If they wont do it, get in touch with trading standard etc... to garner further opinion on it.
  24. If they're standard Rays - check this out: viewtopic.php?f=35&t=13777
