The only thing I would miss hypothetically about the Z is the amount of female attention you get in one Guess that wouldn't happen in an Astra but ah well
-
That too has crossed my mind... Im sat here pondering things... just looked at a few Astra reviews and thinking, within seconds im gonna miss the 350z (no offence sorry Neil)... I dunno... see what Neil comes back and says... the sensible thing to do is downgrade in the short term. There is no way in the world that I will be buying anything other than another 350z or 370z in the future though. Nothing would compare and I have had a MK5 Golf GTI, Mazda RX8, BMW M Roadster etc. Best car I have owned bar none...!

Hi Neil... I've unfortunately just been told that my job is likely to be ending in the new year (after 10 years of hard graft). Any how, its not a massive problem as I have been thinking of starting my own Company for a while now, so its kind of forced my hand a bit I guess... Recently bought a 350z myself but as im likely to be visiting lots of customers in the new year to try and drum up business, I have been thinking (and I know its probably a swear word round these parts) of going to a Diesel in the short term. I must be honest an Astra wouldn't be my first choice, however in the short term I can see myself being quite interested. I have attached a pic of my 2003 Z... it only has 28'500 miles on the clock. Alloys are worth £800 and it is immaculate both inside and out (MOT'd until August 09). If its of interest, let me know... sure we could come to some arrangement... On a side note... I could well change my mind in the meantime though as I have a tear in my eye whilst writing this as I love the Z that much... Not much good running one without a job though :-( lol Blummin credit crunch...! Arrrgggh All the best, Nathan

I followed this and didn't go far wrong... http://liljerk.morpheus.net/350Z/dash_removal/ I'm a relative novice at this sort of thing too...

Best thread I have ever read... The randomness is quite exemplary lol

South West/South Wales Meet. 28th June 2009
nate247 replied to Pimm's topic in Meets, Shows and Events
Despite the fact that my partner has probably booked in various parties, family meets etc over the coming weeks / months. I can quite confidently say I'd be free whenever as I'm itching to see some of your motors so I can plan all my new years spending ;-) lol -
Hi Rob... thanks for the reply. Im just looking to power a new head unit and have been advised to get the above as the Bose amp ramps up the signal, so I will need a PAC ROEM NIS2 to keep everything in check sort of thing... If that makes sense ;-) lol

Jap Bose Head Unit Dead... Can I replace with any car stereo
nate247 replied to nate247's topic in I.C.E & Electronics
Thanks again Steve... can't thank you enough for your help. Will get back to you asap RE the stereo -
Long story short. Just purchased a JDM import 350z and it didn't have the head unit installed. Im a relative car novice and tried installing the unit but it kept saying "press eject" when I powered it up. Having done as it had instructed, it just kept making a clunking / clicking noise (almost as if the mech was jammed or something). Unfortunately I am no tech expert and am just going to get an aftermarket one put in and was just wondering if this Bose / Clarion unit would be of any use to anybody (either to try and repair or use as spares). Not looking for a great deal for it so make me an offer ;-) Many thanks, Nathan...

Have a Jap car where by the stereo has just died and looking to fit an aftermarket unit asap. If anyone has a spare PAC ROEM NIS2 unit knocking about, i'd be extremely interested in taking it off of your hands... Many thanks, Nathan

Jap Bose Head Unit Dead... Can I replace with any car stereo
nate247 replied to nate247's topic in I.C.E & Electronics
Steve, your an absolute star... thanks so much for your help. This is getting more complicated by the minute (too much for my tiny brain to comprehend)... ;-) lol Perhaps the safest bet is to put an AD in the wanted section first to see what I can get hold of and then go from there. In the meantime, its probably just as well to order that Micra Adapter that you kindly posted a link too as whatever happens, I will most likely wind up needing one of those won't I? Thanks again for everything... I will try and get somewhere with this today as I would like to take your stereo off of your hands asap. Many thanks, Nathan ;-) -
Thanks very much Steve... I was obviously asking the questions in order to ascertain whether a purchase for the stereo was a goer or not... (is goer even a word) ;-) lol Im definately very interested though and will get back to you via PM asap... Thanks again... Nathan...

Thanks for the reply Steve as well as putting my mind at ease about the JDM import. Its been secretly eating me up at night but I must admit to absolutely loving the car regardless...! RE the Stereo, I just want something to get me by in the short term (without spending too much). The car when I bought it came with the Single Din + an adapter lead from the standard stereo leads (see attached pic's). Not sure if the lead I have is what is needed? If not (sorry to ask) but what sort of price would I be looking to pay for the correct lead conversion as well as the PAC ROEM NIS2 adapter. Presumably I would need these things anyway for whatever long term stereo solution I decided upon? Sorry to ask yet more questions but I really am a car stereo novice I am afraid

Ok buddy... will reply now

I honestly have absolutely zero idea what it would be worth buddy... Im that clueless with cars... Had a thought... Just looked on Ebay and there are a few between £100 and £140. I have to be honest in that its a bit rich for my veins at the moment as there isn't anything wrong with my current ones, more just a whim to change. I'd say yours were worth that all day long, so wouldn't want to insult you with a derogatory offer

I'm watching this thread with interest as its exactly the conundrum I find myself in as a new JDM owner. Loving the two screen setup I must admit

Could be interested in the Kenwood unit Steve as my BOSE unit has just packed up on my newly purchased Z :-( Is the price (£35) Inclusive of delivery and I presume by ISO leads you mean it has the relevant connectors to adapt the old ones? I have the single din facia (bought today) just a hole now where the stereo should be and the bog standard leads from the old one staring at me. Its a Jap car I have also so not sure if that makes a difference. Nievely got suckered in to am import thinking it was a UK car. Cars and Car Hi-Fi are not my stronger points but im learning (or at least trying too) Thanks in advance for any help... Regards, Nathan...

I have a JDM car that I would like to make more UK spec. How much for the rear buddy? I presume thats the only part that I would need? Many thanks, Nathan

Jap Bose Head Unit Dead... Can I replace with any car stereo
nate247 replied to nate247's topic in I.C.E & Electronics
Thanks for the advice guys. Not really looking for anything other than a stop gap for now and I already have a single din adapter that came with the car upon purchase. Infact the car came without the original BOSE unit installed and only today did I take the dash apart and put it back. It sounded like the CD mech was jammed and kept saying "push eject" which I did. It just kept making a clunking noise and then after about 10 mins just died and had no power. Tried it a few more times and no joy, just completely powerless. It looks like the guy I bought it from had an aftermarket and kept the old stereo in the garage or something (as it was a tiny touch battered on the front and it sounded like something was lose and rattling in there as well). My plan was always to get a top of the range Pioneer or something in the new year, so just need something to get me by in the short term. So was just wondering if I could just buy any old thing for now or whether the head unit must meet certain critera (i.e wattage etc)... I have been reading up on the forum since I joined but am not convinced I have found out what I have been looking for :-( -
Hi guys... Might seem like a stupid question (and sorry if it is). Im a new 350z owner and loving it (all bar the head unit just dying on me). Long term I think that I will get one of those swanky double din units with sat nav, bluetooth etc built in. However for now money is a bit tight and I was wondering with a single din adapter (and conversion cables) if I could put any unit in there with the stock speakers or do I have to get something that meets certain power requirements etc? Sorry to ask but car audio is not a forte of mine I am afraid to say... Would appreciate any advice in terms of getting something working for the short term as I am lost without music :-( Many thanks, Nathan.

WoooHoooo Part 1 of my I.C.E Complete (now fitted)
nate247 replied to nurrish's topic in I.C.E & Electronics
Yeah, your right (which is why I can't make my mind up what to do) :-) lol It is a Bose unit I have yes, however I was told by Clarion today that the UK cars have a black stereo and the Jap ones Gun Mental Grey. Is it a UK stereo or Jap one you have spare buddy? -
WoooHoooo Part 1 of my I.C.E Complete (now fitted)
nate247 replied to nurrish's topic in I.C.E & Electronics
Thanks for coming back nurrish... Sounds like you have done a great job with it and I actually don't think I would mind if it simply came from the on board speaker as long as it was similar to say a Tom Tom or something like that (as they are pretty loud and clear to be fair). I have an import car and the guy I bought it from had a different stereo in it (which he took out) and gave me the stock one to put back in. Only thing is its a bit battered on the front facia and having contacted Clarion today, they can get the facia's for the stereo for £39 but only for UK ones. Because I don't want to put a battered looking stereo back in, I might go the route of getting this sat nav you have done put in and then put a single din unit (something a little understated) that has blue tooth and iPod connectivity. The obvious other choice is a double dinn pioneer unit or something to do it all, however my worry with this is something so desirable and open to prying eyes could lead to my car getting broken in to... Decisions decisions...! -

nate247 replied to nurrish's topic in I.C.E & Electronics
I'd actually be interested in something like this for my newly purchased Z (which unfortunately doesn't have Sat Nav). I'm basically looking to keep the stereo stock, but have some gadgets that I can hide away under the cubby hole. Im a complete tech novice when it comes to car stuff though. Did I read the thread right that this setup is purchasable from you nurrish? If so im very interested. Also can this be doctored at all to include some sort of blue tooth hands free functionality? Many thanks, Nathan... -

Looks really good that buddy... I reckon a lot of these double din touch screens look really good. Does your have the blue tooth module as Alpine don't to integrated hands free do they? Nice looking unit though and bet it sounds great. Have you stuck with the stock speakers?
