i thought getting the plenum made was hard, little did i know
-
i could either, advertise it as show use only on here as well as sending a written letter stating that aswell, then proving it was advertised as show use wouldnt be to difficult, the plenum itself will be guranteed, then it will be upto me or patrick to decide whether the break was done because of the customer or because of a manufacturing problem, then depending on the outcome, it will be replaced if its as show use, if somebody then decides to put it on and rev the car, In the very small circumstance it breaks and damages the engine, its their fault, they fix the engine but the plenum is covered
-
Does that mean you have to carry the carbon plenum in the boot, then arrive, spend time swapping the plenums over and then swapping them back before driving home? PITA if you ask me. might aswell just make a plenum overlay then that you put on when you park up... (Or buy a trailer and don't drive the Zed at all ) in a way, yes thats exactly what it will mean, but its upto the user to decide if he wants to use it on the car? its like illegal things, neon lights under car, different colour bulbs etc etc, thye state show use only, but people still use them in other cases, i know its a different ball game but you get the idea

Scott, although you may not find any direct statements of insurance/guarantee relating to the faulty plenum causing damage, and they just mention guarantees of failure of the plenum iteslf, the product would still be covered under the sale of goods act. If the product is not fit for purpose and fails then the seller would be liable not only for the cost of the product, but if damage to any other component is directly attributable to the faulty product, they would also be liable for repairs to the other components. This is why the R&D is a highly important process. Although it may seem like some have put a dampener on this product, I feel they could be sving you from a VERY expensive legal minefield. Though if you do press ahead with the product, I can only suggest that you consult with an appropriate legal representative who should be able to inform you of all the necessary insurances you will need. It may also be the case that as the part is integral to the safe function of a motor vehicle that there are certain standards and tests which have to be passed in order to legally sell the product. This is certainly the case with tyre manufacturers, brake pad manufacturers and wheel manufacturers etc.. So could be worth some more investigation before placing this on any road going vehicle. The above is meant to be constructive, so please dont construe this a poo pooing your idea. i dont think that at all mate, any hel is good help i my opinion, would this still be the case if i did advertisae it as show use only?? that way, nothing possibly could break and damage anything?

is there anyone out there that you know of that could test it for me? and your right i couldnt afford 10x2500 in bills, im not sure how to do it, ive been looking for the kinetix insurance gurantee, it says that it covers the plenum itself but hadnt never mentioned any gurantee for engines? it will obviously limit how many people buy the product with no engine gurantee, maybe guarantee it like a few other things as show use only? then people can use it at their own risk? sounds crap, but im no fully fledge business with insurance's here and there?
-
im just going to stamp on it, my head hurts, way to much thinking is going on
-
the plan was to put it on my car and take it for a run and drive for a while, if anything is going to happen surely it will be in the early stages of it being put on, how else am i supposed to test it, ideas would be grateful, after all im a newbie to this as well, hence it being called a project
-
there are non, as stated in the thread earlier, the 6 centre bolts are removed like the kinetix, if needed, there will be a stabiliser added underneath, like the kinetix
-
just a case of polishing it up nice and then it coming round here

Believe it or not I'm trying to get the price around the £250 mark, 5 sales are enough, i'm not really bothered how many sales I get, it was mainly my project, my unique product, as for the vacuum I've already discussed this with patrick, I havnt as yet got a support in the middle, as he told me it wouldn't need one, however if it does start to sag, one will be made! I've been reassured that the carbon won't shatter so I'm Hoping they are correct, if this doesn't work it doesn't work, simple as that, if it does, great but we we will keep working on it

The company is a company that makes carbon and fibreglass products only for a number of large company here In the uk, and America, so I'll believe that they know what they are doing, this hasn't been made overnight so it has been reasearched, I've asked the melting point and I was told that it was in the thousands, I will ask again today all the questions you guys have to make sure, I've had the plastic kinetix plenum before, and it didn't get hot what so ever as it's not a conducter, and neither is carbon, there really should be not Melting issues

-
How did you manage to polish all that front? I want i want, have you got a little guide somewhere?
-
Is it his time of the month? Have you read any of this thread martin? Did you read where I have already asked these questions to my suppliers, where I've spent the extra even though I didn't need to, to make sure that melting wouldn't occur???? Did you read where I will be testing this on my own car for a while to make sure anything doesn't break???? Obviously not...

Oh that's right if kinetix arnt able to do it with a plastic plenum must mean it's impossible, not bring funny but if you don't try things it will never happen, rich is right, carbon can be just as strong as the oem and BMW do use carbon plenum on aftermarket cars and touring cars, the company I'm using has made them, the bolt holes will be twice as thick due to the spacer resulting in a pretty hard surface to crack, I suppose it's possible to crack it but only if you over tighten but that's the rule with most things hopefully tommorrow will shed more light

Proper bo**ox cant get it tonight, because the time patrick can get round is to late, it's the wife's birthday today and were going out tonight, I'm thinking I should cancel her birthday Not to worry, picking it up tommorrow morning sometime, least this way I can put it straight on my car without me staring at it all night on the coffee table The suspense will have to continue
