  1. cheers mate, thanks for all the help everyone its really appreciated.
  2. yesssssssssss !!! continouity tested all of the fuse's and found one that looked fine but was actually an open circuit. turns out the dash lights and ignition live to the radio are on the same fuse, also found out the a/c unit must be plugged in for the circuit to work. case closed.
  3. dont know if this helps but my check lights all work fine oil bat ect as do my tail lights.
  4. ok checked em and still no luck, havnt checked those 4 perspex one though. my fuel light is on but the speedo and stuff is out. thanks for all the ideas by the way i didnt even realise there was a fuse box behind battery. these two things must be linked, could it be a relay or something?
  5. ok ill go check that, only seen the fuse's in front of the battery.
  6. ok iv checked the fuse's in the footwell and the fuse's in the battery compartment non have blown, are there any other fuse's anywhere i might of missed? also i pushed that earth in the footwell into where i thought it went and blew a 15 amp fuse in the footwell but doesnt seem to have effected the car at all oddly. Could the dash lights have anything to do with the pods being disconnected?
  7. surley that would cause a fuse to blow thou?
  8. no mate i didnt because i needed to test the stereo before reinstalling it as iv installed a screen aswell, center console is still out.
  9. had ignition wire, batt wire and earth wire attatched, the earth wire got disconnected and the unit went off, thats the last time ignition wire had power, found an earth wire in the foot well above the fuse box disconnected from a white plug but this could be unrelated as iv only found it when checking the fuses. unsure where the earth wire goes as there are a few options.
  10. Hi just attempted to fit a new stereo and now i have no power to the stereo from the ignition (checked with volt meter) also my dash lights have gone out and fuses are all intact. any ideas????
  11. as everyone says tom tom one xl fits nicely without the power connection, i put mine in there sometimes but theres always a chance it'll pop out if you accelerate hard or throw the zed around a bit, you could always put some velcro along the back of the tomtom to make sure it stays in the cubby then you can still take it out for charging. Im going to put an lcd in my cubby now so itll have to live on the windscreen again.
  12. Does anyone know were i can buy one of these in the u.k? Iv done a search and came back with overseas sellers only. If anyone knows of a u.k copy thats fine too. Im looking to install this into the cubby and its a great fit.
  13. thats quite interesting, iv not really noticed it being graunchy but i might go get the fluid changed anyway, cant imagine its an xpensive job(?)
  14. Im not sure if this is normal but the other day after driving a while i noticed alot of heat coming from the panel/cover which has the D,N,R,P letters on it. So is this ok or does is suggest i need fluid change in the transmittion? Or...... could it be that the heating for the car is routed via this panel and thats why it feels hot ??
  15. I thought that was the case, iv also read the early imports ecu wont cancell out gains, not sure why this would be different though.
  16. iv just got a belkin tune fm, plugs straight into the ipod dock and runs from the ipod batt so no wires.
  17. You actually have a few options mate, im in the same boat as you with radio 2, Iv just bought a belkin tune fm to use with my ipod, it has a jap frequency option so you get our ipod on interference free, you could also get a frequency booster which would allow you to recieve uk broadcasts (think there about a tenner) or the option your looking at, replace the head unit. Ill eventually change the head unit but until i decide what i want this works great. hope this helps.
  18. so whats all this bussiness about the zed ecu cancelling out any gains made from mods? "bang for buck" suggests more power.
  19. Hi all, just purchased the belkin tunefm, it has a 'hidden' feature which is not mentioned in the manual and is handy for those of us who still have jap frequency on ze radio, basically pressing preset buttons 1 and 4 together allows you to enter the jap frequncy mode. Because very little radio programs broadcast on these frequencies you'll get a clear signal with no interference. Apart from that it comes with an ipod charger for your lighter socket aswell, nice.

    Zed badges?

wheres the best place to get a bonnet badge to match the black 'z' badge near the indicator?
  21. Thanks mate, i thought it was something along those lines, it definatly feels more 'eagar' to go when in sport mode, wonder if anything else is adjusted to cause this.
  22. ok so i found out what was happining, quite silly really, the button on the change lever wasnt quite interlocking in the park position so the key lock was still active, i found this out when id put it in to park and the key got stuck again, then i went to turn my radio off and my hand knocked the change lever slightly and it popped in fully. amazing.
  23. Seems like a daft question but what does this button do? in icy conditions the snow button seems to restrict power to the wheels but does it affect traction control setup and the like, does the power button give you more power or change gear ratio perhaps? also does this have any effect whilst driving tiptronic?
  24. Yeah its an auto/tronic, yep, in to park as normal but key wont come out, like i said its only happened twice but cant think what else could cause the key to be held. I did threaten to call the cops on it but then i realised id have to walk home
  25. Twice iv parked my zed and the key will not turn all the way back allowing me to remove it, if i start the car again and drive maybe to another parking space then the key can be removed as normal, its not the steering lock as iv tried turning the wheel to free the key, any ideas??
