  1. If your going for a utec then Paul is selling his for £180 viewtopic.php?f=41&t=42557&p=628317#p628317 :)

Or you can buy my supposedly knackered one :p

Thanks Ian, Paul's asking price is very good but that ECU just like yours has not been proven to work or has maps ready to plug and play as my offer hence the asking price ;).

I really don't think it's a good idea to take maps tailored for one car and then just swap it into another and expect everything to be ok. All engines react differently so require custom tuning. Also, I as I understand it UpRev is more sophisticated than a piggyback.

I think we could do with Abbey chipping in here to offer there thoughts as they know much more than me on this.

  2. I've never driven on slicks but I'm not sure my brain would let me trust that much grip is available :scare: I think I'd have a trouser accident way before the slicks let go!

Are you using a square setup with the wheels?

I had a different kind of trouser accident just looking at the car

:lol: Sounds like you've just had a 'crisis'

  3. Sorry, from looking at the pics I thought you had the same width wheels all round rather than a staggered setup as normal. Wasn't really looking for a full spec on your setup, just interested that's all :)

I know your car is purely functional rather than being made to look nice, but it looks cool. Even the big wing (which I'm not usually into!) Hope the rest of the testing goes well.

  4. I'm with Adrian Flux and it wasn't a problem to add the UpRev onto my policy. All insurers have different criteria though. I used to be with Direct Line and they wanted about £60 a year just for adding braided brake hoses!

  5. All,

My exhaust is blowing in the usual weak spot (the join between the mid pipe and back box).

It's in the garage today and hopefully they will be able to weld up the joint so i can get more life out of the exhaust before a new one.

My issue is that i want to keep the car completely standard - but a new standard exhaust is very expensive (£850 fitted from the Cats back!!)

I don't want a modified exhaust (the sound of the standard one is just right for me) and i will pay the £850 if that what it costs for a standard exhaust but are there any options i am over looking??

    Thanks,

    Chris

Why would you need to replace the exhaust from the cats back? Surely you'd just want the backbox if it's corroded in the join between the mid pipe and back box?

  6. Exactly my reason for never spacing my Rays!

And with bigger wheels with good offsets, why add more unsprung weight?!

Wouldn't having bigger wheels with aggressive offsets have the same effect as spacers? The extra metal in the wheel to make it wider would also increase unsprung weight in the same manner as adding spacers.
