Read the codes before you reset eml. Could be crank sensor, MAF knackered, coil pack(s), IPDM, ECU and like you said the worst of all compression issue, but unless its been right down on oil I don't think it will be this.
We fit gearboxes to old X5's fairly often but if it changes nice and smooth with no unusual noises then they are worth a punt. I would look for one without a tow ball so you know its not been abused dragging hoses around
BMW X5's are great 4X4's! As you will be looking at an E53 watch out for poorly gearboxes as they are not cheap to fix.
If was you would be looking at say a rav4, Newer Navara/pathfinder, the little shogun, or a diesel subaru etc ?
Just do not buy an old freelander as I will com and burn it!
I cant read these anymore. Every week I find someone on the road that shouldn't be there and driving like an idiot. It use to pee me off but now I just take a view that they can't help being traded
Yes we do but we only like to fit quality stuff that fits well. So if you buying some buy them off a member on here who has already had them on his/her car or buy new from Pretty Chris aka Tarmac
The seals in the rocker cover would be goosed, they are the seals for the plug tubes. Sounds like your burning the oil and not using it though. If you keep topping it up with oil it should keep going for a good while yet though
