Today has been booked in for sometime now, just so happens it fell the same time as the other VXR8 I did. It was booked in for a protection detail plus engine bay and interior using Dodo juice products. On first arrival the car looked in pretty good shape this morning at 9:30 Befores: Firstly the wheels were soaked in AS Smart wheels and the tyres and arches cleaned using g101, while the smart wheels was left to soak I sprayed the engine bay with some virasol via 5 ltr pump sprayer. Before: Afters: I then went back and cleaned the wheels using a EZ detail brush and some swissvax style brushes. Next up was all the door/boot shuts with again swissvax style brush and some g101 and then rinsed with the kranzle. The car was then pre-soaked in some citrus de-greaser Then left for 2 mins before rinsing. Next up was some ssf through new autobrite lance This was left for 5 mins then rinsed. Then washed using 2bm a Z sponge and some b2bm shampoo, then rinsed using DI Vessel and open ended hose. Now to see the defects as the sun was out shining nice and bright. :doublesho Some pretty heavy swirling and marring, this was only in for a protection no correction but still needed to reduce these buggers. Out with the pc and some menz FF on a megs finishing pad. Not bad for a quick pass The whole car polished using this method then followed up using LP lite via foam applicator panel at a time and buffed. The car was then given its first coat of Dodo Purple haze and left to cure for 30 mins while I polished the exhausts and dressed the tyres and arches. This was then buffed off and then I dressed all the plastics with some black wow. Now Coffee time and then dressing the engine bay with plastic and rubber dressing. I then cleaned the exterio windows using megs glass cleaner and my glass cloths :thumb: Now a couple of hrs had passed so I could still another coat of purple haze on and then left for 20 mins and buffed. Heres the exterior/engine bay finished just got the interior to do in the morning and then seal it with some Dodo red mist. Now for some befores: After: Before: After: Before: After: Total time taken was 7 hrs All comments welcome as usual. Paul

Thanks chaps, yeah must admit the graphite wheels look loads better. Paul -
Today I was back visiting my client after a 6mth gap previous detail, since I last did the car it has had the wheels painted graphite, lowered 25mm and had to have a big repair due to the valet parking at the airport parking the car on a curb with the front bumper then reversing off and ripping all the lugs and undertray. I could tell that it had been in the bodyshop because of some bad swirling now showing. Firstly here are some before pics: Firstly I tackled the wheels using some as smart wheels and a selection of brushes, ez detail and swissvax style brushes, the tyres were cleaned using some g101 and the arches with virasol and then washed off with the kranzle. Then I cleaned all the door/boots shuts with my swissvax style brush and some g101, then the engine was soaked with some virasol and left for a few mins then agitataed again with my selection of swissvax style brushes, tyhen rinsed at low pressure. The car was then given a pre-wash some warm citur de-greaser to cut through the dirt, this was applied to the lowers and the bonnet and left for a few mins then rinsed, next up was a APC snow foam to remove any protection left on the car, left to dwell for 5 mins then rinsed. Then a 2bm wash using a Z sponge and dodo born to be mild shampoo leaving it looking like this. The car was then clayed using dodo gentle grey, no pics because hardly any contamination removed, then re-washed and dried using my RV drying towel and last touch as a drying aid. Now time to inspect the paint to see how it was looking :doublesho swirling and light scratches visible, I am going to persude the owner to have a correction in the summer as I love this car and It needs to look its best IMHO. Now time for the Dodo LP applied panel at a time and buffed, did the whole car and then went round with some poorboys blackhole glaze to fill a few of the marks and enhance the gloss, pre wax shots. I then applied a coat of Dodo Supernatural and left to cure while I had a sarnie and cleaned the exhausts yusing some fine 00 grade wire wool and AG metal polish. Before: Afters: Then dressed the tyres/acrhes using some rubber/plastic dressing, and then I buffed off the SN using my eurow buffing cloths. I then cleaned all the exterior windows with some megs glass cleaner and my glass cloths, the engine bay was then dressed using plastic/rubber dressing. And now time for the interior, this was fully hoovered and a wipedown with some g101 and a mf, then the leather was conditioned using some sonus. Finally a quick spritz with some duragloss 951 applied/buffed leaving the car looking like this. A quick inspection under the brinkmann: Loads better considering this was a protection detail and not a correction, there still is a fair few swirls that hopefully the owner will let me do the works on it later on. Now time for the BEAST Interior: And finally: Before: After: Before: After: Before: After: Thanks again to Bob for letting me work on the beast. Total time was 7 hrs All comments welcome as usual. Possible Detailing Tour covering the UK, WHO'S INTERESTED???
Race Valeting replied to Race Valeting's topic in Car Detailing
Hi As for the Gardx thats not a problem that can be removed to tackle/correct the paintwork and then re-seal/wax giving better protection/finish than the gard-x. As for the interior the gardx isn't too bad for protection, I'm pressuming its leather? Did they clean/condition this and all the plastics? What is the paintwork condition like? I have a 400ltr water tank so water/tap not a problem, work sounds ideal. Rgds Paul -

Possible Detailing Tour covering the UK, WHO'S INTERESTED???
Race Valeting replied to Race Valeting's topic in Car Detailing
Hi Chaps, Hope everyone is fine and enjoying the lovely british weather, just wondering what people's thoughts are about the DETAILING TOUR and when people will be interested in starting to have this done? I know most will want to just see out the winter and then have the details done just prior to the shows. Can people just let us know so we can make some plans/ideas for dates etc etc. Cheers Paul -
I've not used it myself but have seen many other detailers using it and with excellent results. Paul

Today was the 2nd part to a double booking, it was for a winter protection detail On arrival the car wasn't too bad just covered in frost so needed to be left running for 20 mins with the heating on full to defrost it all. Firstly the wheels were sprayed with some AS Smart wheels and thye tyres with some g101 this was left to dwell while I got the rest of the equipment ready. Then the wheels were tackled with a new EZ detail brush and a selection of other brushes, there was also some old stickers/weight marks that needed to be removed using some tardis. Before: After: Then I did all the door/boots shuts using a swissvax style brush and some g101 then rinsed with the kranzle. Next up was a pre-wash using some citrus de-greaser sprayed onto the lowers to help remove/loosen some of the dirt, this was left for a few mins then rinsed. Next up was to snow foam using some hyper wash, think my lance needs a good clean out as the foam was terrible today :censored: the joys of having really hard water, this was also left for a few mins then rinsed ready for a 2bm wash using a Z sponge and dodo born 2 be mild shampoo. Next stage was claying using some dodo gentle grey and LT as lube. Before: After: Lots of contamination and also quite a bit of overspray too from the bodyshop. Then a quick wash again and then dried using some LT and my Race Valeting Drying Towels Now time to inspect the paint as the sun wash beeming down nicely :doublesho Don't we just love bodyshops...... As the car was only booked in for a protection no correction work was being down today but still managed to get this 50/50 for the Dodo Lime Price by hand, shows really how good this products is. The whole car was LP'd by hand 2 panels at a time then buffed off, this was then followed up by a coat of Chemical Guys 50/50 wax which was applied to the whole car via a damp sponge applicator (So quick to wax using these) and then buffed off.) Next Up I dressed the tyres with some espuma rd50 and the arches with AS highstyle. All the plastic were dressed using Zaino rubber/plastic and then buffed off leaving a great finish. By this time I was apply to add another layer of 50/50 on top which was then buffed off. Then I started with the interior, gave it a good hoover and cleaned all the plastics with a mf and some g101. The wheels were thyen given a coat of jetseal 109 and then buffed off sealing them nicely. As the owner was out playing golf and not due back to later in the afternoon I added another coat of 50/50 this helped greatly to reduce the swirls too and then topped off with some Duragloss 951 leaving a lovely deep glossy finish. Heres the afters: Then just as I had finished packing up and polishing the exhaust the owner turned up and thought it looked LOVELY :thumb: BEFORE: AFTER: Total time taken was 6 1/2 hrs. Thanks for looking Paul

I've had this car booked in now for a couple of weeks, the onwer had dropped the car round to me on the saturday ready for a 2 day detail. Unfortunatly due to the weather I only managed to get the car started yesterday and finished it off today with just the interior to do ij the morning. This was the car's before pics. Firstly the wheels were soaked in some AS Smart wheels while I got all my gear together, this was then agitated using a selection of brushes and then rinsed. Then the car was given a pre-soak with some warm citrus de-greaser to help loosen some of the dirt, this was left for a few mins then rinsed. Next up was to snow foam using some super snow foam, this was also left to dwell before being rinsed. Next up was a 2bm wash using a Z sponge and some Dodo born 2 be mild shampoo, this was then rinsed using my 29 ltr DI Vessel and a open ended hose to help sheet most of the water off. Next up was the claying, today I use the sonus green. Before: This was just after 2 panels on the driverside and the roof. Then another quick wash and rinse before being dried using a miracle drying towel and some LT. Heres some of the DEFECTS I was up against :buffer: A strange staining on the paintwork on the driverside wing... And lots and lots of swirls and scratches. I knew I had my work cut out with this 1, I did another XK8 in the same colour last year and also a Topaz XKR and they were pretty tough going to correct fully. I started out with a test patch and some FC+ & MENZ FF on a cutting pad this was working well but still alot of panels needing a good 2 hits to correct upto a good standard. Heres a few 50/50 shots corrected shots Once all the machining was finished the car was given an IPA wipedown to remove some of the oils left by the polishes. The car was then LP's using a foam applicator and buffed off panel at a time, this was followed up with a coat of dodo purple haze and left to cure for 20 mins before buffing. In the meantime I polished the exhausts using some wire wool and megs nxt metal polish. Before: Afters: The tyres were then dressed using some espuma RD50, then windows were then cleaned using my glass cloths and some megs glass cleaner. I then cleaned the leather on 1 seat to see what they came up like ready for doing all the interior tomorrow. Passenger side cleaned and drivers to do tomorrow, you can see the differnce in the pic. Cleaned using a elite car care leather brush and some mild g101, will be conditioned tomorrow using some sonus leather conditioner. Heres a few after pics of the car, Will be adding another coat of purple haze tomorrow and hopefully get some better sunlight shots, fingers crossed... A few nice reflection shots from in the garage: Thanks for looking, all comments welcome as per usual. Total time taken so far is 14 hrs. Paul

Was it a detailer that machined your car? If so they should have prepped and waxed the paintwork after they've corrected it. What colour is your car and I will recommend some prodcust for you to buy to maintain it correctly. Paul

Thanks Here's the other xk8 I did last year, should be like this in next day or 2. http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17139 Paul Nice work... Many Thanks... Paul -
Today I had booked in a Guards Red Porsche 968 cabrio, first day back after the New year due to having a really bad dose of the flu and bed ridden for a few days. On first inspection of the car It was looking very tired and heavily oxidised, the owner wanted it spruced up ready for sale. On arrival this morning at 8:30 the car was heavily iced over and the temp was -2. Befores: Firstly the wheels were sprayed with some bilberry and left for 5 mins then agitated using a selection of brushes, the tyres were cleaned using some g101 and a oxo wheel brush. Next up was a pre wash with some warm cirus de-greaser sprayed onto the lowers to help breakdown the dirt, this was left for a few mins then rinsed. Then the car was snow foamed using some envy foam and a drop of megs shampoo +, this was left for 5 mins then rinsed. Today it was so cold every bit of water was freezing on the bodywork/wheels so then it was washed using 2bm and some dodo born to be mild shampoo and then rinsed. I had to then get the halogens out to try and get some heat into the panels so I could clay the car, it was clayed using some sonus green anf LT as a clay lube, the car was then re-washed and then dried using my Race Valeting drying towel. Now onto the polishing stage, out came the makita and a megs polishing pad with some megs 83/80 this combo seem to be working nicely giving a good level or correction and removing the oxidation. befores: 50/50 The car was then LP'd via the rotary and a blue 3m pad, then the LSP was some dodo supernatural. The tyres were dressed using some espuma rd50 and the hood was brushed and then some 303 hood protectant applied, the glass cleaned using my Race Valeting Glass cloths and some megs glass cleaner. afters: Before After Total time was 7.5 hrs Thanks for looking all comments welcome as usual. Paul
