  1. I have had a reply from www.kph-mph.co.uk and they have told me that the converter unit is installed behind the speedo / rev counter cluster so I'll have to remove that to get access. The problem I'm having is a 'dancing needle' as the experts call it!!!! Basically the needle goes mental and starts jumping around and it looks like the convertor unit may be the culprit. The above company offer a de-restrictor and speedo convertor unit for £89 + VAT. I already have an HKS SLD Speed defencer fitted which cost over £200 new, so it looks like I'll buy the new unit and remove the HKS SLD. That will be going on ebay as soon as I fit the new unit!!!!
  2. Hi Folks, Just wondering if anybody knows the location of the KPH - MPH speedo convertor unit? I have a JDM Zed with one fitted but my analogue and digital speedos show erratic speeds up on hot days, and I'm trying to find the fault. I know there is a speed sensor signal that comes from the Unified A/C amp and goes to the Speedo cluster, but I have no idea where the actual converter unit is wired in. Cheers
  3. I've got a video interface and DVB-T TV tuner for sale on ebay if anyone is interested in modding their original Sat Nav or at least giving the JDM Sat Nav some sort of life. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :MESELX:IT The PAC VCI-X can be wired into the loom going to the sat nav display and it can be connected to a TV Tuner, DVD player, reversing camera etc. It cost a fortune from the states and there doesn't seem to be anything like it on the UK market for Video integration. Please note that this is for Video signals only. If your TV Tuner or DVD player has an Audio outpot then you will need an AUX input on your stereo to pick up sound. It worked in my Zed but I upgraded to a car PC which does it all. I've had a few posts on the forum relating to it if you're unsure about what I'm talking about. Any questions then drop me a line.
  4. Got a video interface and DVB tuner for sale on ebay if anyone is interested in doing something with their SAT NAV. Check it out. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :MESELX:IT
  5. Yeah, I am using it every day and quite chuffed with the whole package. I have a few small niggles which I am in the process of sorting out namely; The NavMii software keeps changing the ID code which is a pain. The support assure me that this is unique which is a real shame as it is a cracking Sat Nav software The boot time is still about 40sec and can be longer if the IPOD is fitted. Best way around it is to store the tunes on the Hard drive. Blue tooth phone works a treat but I have to switch the stereo to AUX1 to hear the calls. The TV tuner dongle was only a cheap one and I have absolutely no reception, so that will need further investigation. Other than that, the Centrafuse front end software is great, the touch screen makes it so much easier to use and finally I have got a system that is not in japanese. Another point that is good is that the parking cameras (two wing mounted and one rear) operate automatically due to the video input to the touch screen.........I had to flick a switch previously. I am happy with it, but it is a very expensive project to take on and there is a lot of fu*k factors involved!!!!!! Go on, take the plunge!!!
  6. Yeh, it's a strange one. I'm not aware of any hardware issues. I can enter the key for the GBR map and it can run for a day. Start the car the next day and the Device ID has defaulted to 1234567890QWERTY............I can then leave it and a couple of days later, it will revert back to the original ID. I hadn't considered any hardware issues, but the Device ID that it reverts back to doesn't seem very random.......1234567890QWERTY . As I said, I have asked Navmii support for help and they have not come across it before. They have given me a key for the 12345......device ID, but once that is entered, it reverts back to the original ID!!!!!! Bloody Nuisance!!!!! Seems to be quite a slick sat nav program though. Have you had any issues with Centrafuse with regards to album track names and album art when played in the Media Player? I can't get any album, track or artist info at all and the Ipod inf doesn't come through at all.
  7. Aye just about there Chris'I, been having a few problems with the Navmii though, it seems to change the device ID every now and again which de-activates the maps. Been in touch with the support folk and they don't know what's going on!!!!! Looks like I'll need to look for another Sat Nav application. Any suggestions anyone?
  8. Well that's the control panel finally complete and I'm happy with it now. The switches on the original panel were getting in the way of the navigation buttons on the Centrafuse display. Just for info, the red button on the left operates a relay which cuts the voltage to the Carnetix power regulator in case a 'Hard Reset' is required. The black button on the left is connected to the ACPI connection on the PC which gives it a reboot (like pressing the button on the front of a desktop PC)
  9. lots of it is common sense with the zed interior, most of the parts overlap so its a case of start at the top and work your way down. As Husky said, lots of common sense. If a panel ain't budging then go easy. I've had to replace quite a few through my errors but now I can practically take the interior apart blind folded!!!!!
  10. No bother at all. Here to help. The forum has been a real help and Chris & Nurrish have been good at pointing me in the right direction. It's always good to see another persons install too to get some ideas.
  11. Cheers Nurrish. It was all helped by the way thet PC technology has come opn leaps and bounds........no need to rip apart old laptops, displays etc and try and integrate them into a working CarPC. Anyway, at least the old Japanese Sat Nav is finally been sent to the big scrappy in the sky!!!!
  12. Well that's it pretty much finished and tested. Just got a blanking plate to cover the void where the old navi unit was. I've also got an issue with the Navmii software in that I cannot activate the maps. I'm also going to change the control panel as I'm not happy with the switch layout as it gets in the way of the centrafuse navigation buttons. I've also attached a pic of the NDSII diagnostics software which uses a BlaZt cable. Quite smart as it also has a data log function. Will post pics of the new control panel once I have it finished.
  13. Well you'll not have to worry about that withe the new Zed!!!!
  14. You checked to see if the COM port has changed?
  15. Yeh, I had thought about that chris but I had an IPAQ with a GPS receiver for Tom Tom a few years ago and I already had the metal plate for the magnet and the small hole cut in the top of the dash. If I hadn't had that then I would have gone for the rear strut brace. Just installed the memory and have been playing about with the set up this afternoon. A few niggles but getting through them one at a time. Soon it will be complete.
