Totally different engine the 3200. that was a twin turbo
-
having owned and maintained and repaired and driven for more than 20k miles a 4200gt spyder manual 02 reg in british racing green with cream leather all the possible boxes ticked and 18k miles when i got it. : the buying and servicing experience was immaculate. a driver would come from leeds to hull, drop a 320d mpack off and pick the maser up. then drop it back off a few days later. however it was at jct 600 leeds every second week for various reasons. 9k (i think it was 9k) service was 1300 quid for spark plugs, oil, filters and general check. then the annual at 400 quid where all they did was clean the brakes. and then a clutch at 2.5k quid. also for the record a rear drive shaft was over a grand!!! plus labour tyres are 400 quid a corner for the rear ones (ps change the pirellis asap and put pilot sports on!!!) more body flex than a mattress and a corsa on aftermarket coilovers could overtake me on a roundabout. creaky cabin and a fair bit of wind buffeting. oh and it rusts! 10mpg round town, 18-20 on the motorway at 80-90mph skyhook suspension useless and TCS worse than the Zed's very average brakes. and i could go on and on. the grandsport is better but only just. the coupe is a different car as it handles sweetly and there isnt much body roll. but thats as far as it goes. the interior in the 04 on models is much nicer but the fit and finish still average then you start the engine and you forget it all!! sounds amazing, straight line pace up up there with the best and the engine is simply a gem. (it has got chains not cambelts and and its a dry sump or whatever its called)...oh and the engine is very very robust too! add that its one of the best chick traps and head turners ever and you ve got the perfect poser's car haha if you buy one you will love it. but be very careful which one you buy and drive it with love or it will wreck your bank accounts (they are cheap as chips to buy for a reason)!! and drive with respect. you can not drift it!!! especially in the wet it bites back suddenly and big time...i wrote it off in the end as for the granturismo i would have one any day. 1-2 years old. not brand new and not with the old automatic box...it goes through clutches every 9-10k miles and is very jerky. and then sell it before the warantee expires.

on a serious note ian...try an lsd. man i v still got the 888s on. havent bothered putting the hanzos back on after my last track day and black ice or grit doesnt bother the car if you treat it with respect.

Sorry to hear this m8. Hope its nothing more than minor injuries. i completely feel for you.

with thanks to the mods. have fun guys. i just saw the thread. -
+1. if you dont operate it for a long time it will struggle even when fairly warm. and there should be no lower temp to operate the hood! we dont care everybody else thinks....they are just jealous
-
My rays are not square. rears are wider than the fronts.
-
man too late to have a look now...tom first thing your rims

well i did my annual CPR training on friday... so successful it works on forum threads too!! in any case it will be good to know what bennet thinks of the BBKs. esp on the balance of the car and disk overheating. temps etc. I ve got the PF at the front with race RF pads and dixcel rear disks with PF standard pads. At my recent outing to donnington park the PF guy was there measuring disc temps. So after 10 very on the limit laps i did a cool down lap and went in the pits. He came round quickly and measured the temps. It was about 300 degrees all over he said which is very good he said. I was on 888s and for ventilation i have opened big holes on the wheel arch inner liner. During the whole day i had no brake fade whatsoever and the only thing that reduced my laps to 10-15 per outing was overheating of tyres mainly and coilovers. in total i did more than 80 laps and i would have done more if it hadnt pi**ed it down the brake bias of the car is very important tho. cant wait to hear comments
-
you can do that by dropping the front a bit or increase the camber.
-
they look very nice m8 they do look the part! Alex's point is right. check the vents...although all the bbks i ve seen on evos face the same way like yours...i think...take a wheel off and double check. as for the sizes you may find out that the car behaves a bit differently on the track now. there was a very detailed test somewhere on the net (trying to find it again) and the general conclusion was that you need to keep the manufacturer front/rear braking bias as close to standard as possible. when you are braking the cars inertia needs to follow a specific as per the cars design and suspension. In the Zeds case to the front. That you way you achieve shorter braking distance and better turn in balance. That test was comparing standard brakes, brembo and and bigger set ups with staggered/non staggered combinations. dont think the caliper was as important as the disk diameter. looking forward for your review after a track day. last thing...given that it will be a tight squeeze into the rays now will it not affect the air flow to the disks? thinking about overheating still...and heat transfer to the rim/tyre too

there are some pics somewhere here. have look. the orange/red bracing is tanabe one and goes between the gt-spec middle section and front bar. cant say it did much. viewtopic.php?f=25&t=29153 linky not working its a copy paste job m8.
-
man i would swear it wasnt that expensive...then again i dont remember where i got it from but it was when the pond was about 2 dollars. go on the gt-spec web site. the middle section and the fender bracings made most of the difference. then the front and rear bracings. but honest they are all a must have for the roadster anyway

I deffo thought it was worth it. Will upload some more pics tomorrow of the place we stayed at. Most relaxing 2 weeks I've had full stop more of the above too i should hope so. cuba and mexico my next 2 destinations anyway... glad you enjoyed it m8.

its supposed to aircraft aluminium or smth. for example the big miggle section weights a few hundred grams. they are hollow and almost unbendable.

m8 i love whiskey...did a test in a pub in edinburgh once...and that was the only pub i remember being in that night but i cant see visiting aberdeen any time soon -
i HATE deep dishes... i am debating with the idea...although for the same money i may get a set of brides...and leave the rims as they are...will see after i speak to the manufacturer tom...
-
how much more can i spend on the zed??? then again it has crossed my mind...more because of the weight of those hanzos as they look really at night... and i mostly drive the car at night plus the brake dust doesnt show much either and i get loads of it!!!

You have no idea how right you are! I'm standing outside looking at the car and the salesman goes "Doesn't she look beautiful? Look how clean she is!" and I'm thinking to myself "Good god, has this car ever seen a clay bar?!" and its defo a HE!!!!
