  1. also meant to ask thoughts on lowering with rays... is this a mod many have followed ?
  2. Interesting to see the cars side-by-side, for me (and maybe biased) I though the 350 looked the newer shape. maybe different in the flesh.

  6. Lot's of very nice wheel upgrades on forum I'm considering the same myself, but would like a performance gain as well as looks. What's considered the optimum wheel size/tyre combination (sizes not manufacturer) ? Or is there nothing in it, so just buy what you fancy ?

  8. Yep I agree, I only ever bought one car new and that was the VX220. Paid full price before they were heavily discounted and then a sizeable amount modding. I used to make a little money on the old ones, trawling through Exchange & Mart for a bargain, having some fun and then moving on - happy days. Thought I'd have a Mk1 Escort for the misses last year -and then I saw how much they go for !!! (I did have a Le mans green RS1600 for a couple of weeks when they were new - on loan (long story) this got me my first endorsement - not long after seeing 'Vanishing Point'
  9. I go back a long way when you could buy a car for a few hundred pounds... from memory.. Mk1 Cortina (first car) was a 1200 deluxe !! my first modified car - engine, brakes, wheels etc Mk1 Cortina GT MGB GT Vitesse Volvo P1800 3 mini's (best was a 1959 that had done 34k miles) and a van Ford Pop E93A Astra GTE Puma Frogeye - sold for good profit after restoring to buy 1st house for £16k !! Mk2 Zephyr Gilbern Invader (mk3) - one of my favourites Mk2 Cortina (GT) Mk4 Cortina (broke and with two children - this was a good car though and used to do night rallies with CSMA - had a very good navigator and some adjustable spax shocks, we were placed in several events - still with baby seats in the back Scooby Estate Original Fiat 500 - my mum put it in a ditch in Devon - might still be there ? Fiat Multipla (tow car and wife's daily drive) .....
  10. I've always been a car and bike fan, but wont bore you with ~20 cars owned from my early years. So a couple of the most recent:- still own and race the Caterham (Graduates race championship - Mega class). The VX220 was my car before the Zed, this was my slippery slope in to racing. Started off with track days, some serious modding followed to get full potential, then sprinting (great fun for a minute or two) I then raced a BMW saloon at a few events prior to Caterham purchase. Last bike owned was the Fireblade.

  12. good meeting up Martin, albeit briefly. we positioned ourselves right off stage not far from front after some pushing and squeezing. was it us or was the sound system quite poor ? I hope Liz enjoyed Midge - was best act IMHO

    Fifth Gear

Be prepared to find a previously great car (the 350) not so great when the 370 is tested. But remember all things are relative
  14. very nice Keith Good colour choice for this car IMHO...

Anyone out there got a cheap but reliable 50cc moped they want to part with ? Thanks...
  17. Look good mark - suit the car (what sizes are your old wheels - maybe interested.....)
  18. Thanks Steve - I'm a definite for 26th September - happy to book and pay now if required
  19. Steve - I want to have a go at this, but can't make 25th July. Do you have any other future dates scheduled ? Thanks...
  20. It's a race day, not a track day. We will probably not get pit access as will be supporting a more prestige series. But, full access to pits will be possible on entry ticket (~£15). There will be ~130 Caterhams racing in three classes and we are normaly allocated in the outer paddock. There's also free seating at these events, for the stands that are open.
  21. Mark if you're interested, I'll be racing the Caterham twice in August at Brands. 1st August - GP circuit. 22/23rd August - Indy. (two races - I think it's qually Saturday and two races on the Sunday). Caterham racing is normally good spectator sport with max number of cars on grid.
