  1. Not sure if this happens with all models, but when I select the screen position (on the air direction selector thingy) the aircon automatically turns on and demists the screen really quickly.
  2. I'm fairly sure all versions don't work in all Nissans. I believe there are different Birdview software versions and certain map revisions only work with certain software updates. Only gleaned this bit of info from seeing certain ebay sales including the required software update disk as well. Regarding the updates and newer info I guess it's mainly more current map data. I'm fairly sure my 2009 disk still shows a local restaurant, in the POI, that closed nearly 3 years ago. For the money Nissan charge you'd think all this would be current
  3. Two spotted in Grand Bay last Saturday, one silver and one white
  4. Black Zed with some nice rims spotted on Long road, Cape Town on 26/09/09. I had a forum card with me as well but could run quick enough Also spotted a Silver Zed on 26/09/09 driving through Camps Bay

    Lies???

Ahh, well with that bit of info I guess they are telling porkies

    Lies???

Well it depends what windscreen you've had fitted so they may not be telling porkies. Some cars have windscreens which prevent most of the radar signal passing through to be received properly inside the car. This reduces the effectiveness and therefore the warning range of the radar detectors and GPS. "Athermic" windscreens cause problems for all radar detectors and also GPS systems due to the high metallic content of the screen. Athermic screens are sometimes called heat reflective, solar or heat insulating windscreens. Athermic windscreens are easy to spot as, from about 50 yards away, they appear to have a "Petrol Blue" haze. Above was taken from some technical site though I was already aware of it.. Renault screens use this type of windscreen. Check out the next one that approaches you and you may see the blue tint. Personally, I've had no problems with using other GPS kit with heated screens, well with Ford anyway. Are you losing the GPS signal? Does the GPS icon grey out? I would not have thought losing the signal would cause the program to lock up as it happens all the time with normal use (under bridges, flyovers etc).
  7. I was driving home from work the other week. Car was nice and clean and had the windows down. As I rounded a corner I spotted 3 lads (possibly Japanese) who quickly spotted my car and stared open mouthed. As I drove past they all spoke in unison "Ahhh……...Nissan". It made me smile
  8. This is one from the wife . Sheet spotted a '53 reg silver Zed as she walked back to her car at around 12:00. I'd left a flyer in her glove compartment so she duly flyered it Apparently, it needed a good wash...tut, tut

  13. Hi and the above list with the bulge on the bonnet should be the latest version

    New tyres ordered

Had these fitted as well, about 3 months ago at £506 all in. I found them noisier than I was expecting coming from worn Potenza RE050s. Let us know what you think. I noticed the Vredestein web site recommends pressures of 45/42 psi front/rear. This seems a bit high and felt a bit hard for me so I’ve reduced to around 37psi all around. I did try the Nissan recommended 35psi but is felt a bit 'squirmy' though this may have been due to them being brand new a still a bit greasy. I questioned this with Vredestein and got the following response: 'This is the answer from our Tyre Information Centre to your question: Our advice is to use the tyre pressure from the manufacturer for full-load and high speed. When you can not find the correct tyre pressure, you can always use the advice from Vredestein. The tyre pressure advice from Vredestein is always a little higher than set out by the car manufacturer. The reason behind this is we focus more on handling and safety characteristics than on comfort. Also the life span of the tyres will be longer and the fuel consumption and impact on the environment will be less. Vredestein calculates the tyre pressure using the tyre pressure from the car manufacturer for full load and high speed. The tyre pressure for full-load and high speed we recommend for your Nissan 350Z is: Front: 45 psi Rear: 42 psi We hope this answers your question. In case you have more questions, please don't hesitate to mail us, we are always prepared to answer them. Kind regards, Vredestein Banden B.V.'
  15. Lovely red coupe on a 54 plate spotted on the A45, Sheldon heading towards Birmingham.
  16. Spotted today around 13:00. Black
  17. Spotted at 11:15 this morning. I was turning right at the Wheatsheaf lights and you turned left to head towards the airport
  18. Well I thought I'd help a bit more so deleted all my paired devices to try and connect again.....guess what? I could not connect and the damned phone would not detect the Zed sending you to the bottom of my Christmas card list . This is a long shot and would be a big coincidence if you are suffering the same problem. Anyhow, when you turn the ignition on the BT adapter should flash rapidly between orange and red. It should then change to orange. Mine was going to red (though I didn't realise that was wrong). I gave up, walked into the house and notice my work phone lit up...mmm I wonder, checked it and I'd left BT active on that phone that also connects to the zed. What was happening was the Zed was connecting to the phone in the house and therefore ignoring my phone in the car. You say you've just upgraded, any chance you old phone is still switched on and beating your shiny new 5800 to the connection? If the BT adapter is showing red before you connect the 5800 it could be another BT device causing the issue
  19. You should have no problems with the 5800, works fine on mine...heh someone else posted as I was typing I have the bluetooth icon as a shortcut, on the phone's front screen, for easy activation/deactivation. If you come across an easier way let me know
  20. Spotted at about 15:00 with two on board and hood down . Don't think I got a response to my flash but didn't realise it was a zed until we were passing
  21. and I thought this was referring to me! Maybe it was at the time
  22. Congrats on the purchase. For years I used to look with envious eyes every time I spotted a Zed, thinking I would never be able to afford one. I ended up with an ebisu one even though the azure is by far my favourite colour
