    Blackjax

Hi all, After buying my Z I have been considering having a Blackjax system fitted. After reading about AndyC's incident I'm now even more inclined. The system is designed with carjacking in mind. If the doors are opened you need to re-enter a code. If you don't the engine is cut, lights flash etc after a short time (I think). Allows the offenders to drive a safe distance away from you, and you to scarper and call the police. Has anyone had any experience of this type of security device? Cheers
  3. Really sorry to hear this news. A horrible experience. As a new owner it's one of my worries, aswell as having dodgy types turn up at your house to demend the keys (mate had his Type-R stolen like this). I was considering installing a BlackJax system for such occasions. Has anyone got any one? Will set up another thread. Hope you get it all sorted
  4. mmM, guess I need to find out what colour mine is. Was thinking it was ebisu black. They only had Kuro in at Halfords so didn't buy it.
  5. The fact that after adjusting the moving the passenger seat out of the way to access the storage area it returns to a postion bang in the middle of the window requiring me to lean over and readjust it every time
  6. The mother in-law spotted this in the local paper on the evening I picked up my Z. Mostly what we already know but still nice to read as a new owner Written by Mike Torpy Flip open the boot in the latest version of Nissan’s 350Z coupe and there are two surprises. One is the sheer size of the tailgate itself, the other a notice on the underside. It reads: How To Store Two Golf Bags, and is accompanied by a pair of diagrams. Thankfully I had no cause to study the pictures because the bags, albeit slim line, slotted in a treat. Could be that Nissan is doing itself a disservice by suggesting the load area is constricted. What’s not such a shock is the shear joy of driving a 350Z. This spiritual successor to the iconic 240Z of the early 1970s has altered little since its launch five years ago, yet is still more than a match for the best coupes on the market. Visually it’s an elegant, lean machine – eye catching in colour-of-the-moment white – the tested version featuring lightweight RAYS forged 18-inch alloy wheels with gold Brembo brakes. Hop inside and the firm fabric seats are low slung, the pedals and footrest are all of drilled alloy and there are lidded storage containers, sunglass holder, coin slots and a lockable luggage bay behind the passenger seat that’s capable of holding a briefcase. Convenience spec like climate control air-con, trip computer and adjustable steering are standard and while the six CD system is something you expect, it’s unusual to still find a cassette player in the dash. Fire up the 3.5 litre V6 engine and prepare yourself for a soundtrack unique in a car from this price category. The growl from the 313PS unit is savage, as is the punch that comes fro an engine that produces 90 per cent of its peak torque at a mere 2,000rpm. The upshot is a 0-62mph acceleration figure of just 5.7 seconds and top speed that’s electronically limited to 155mph. More enjoyable though is the pin-sharp driving experience with its tenacious road holding and positive feel from the steering wheel. The ride is very firm and the clutch bites like a rat trap, but the short throw gear stick is a delight to use as you ‘snap shift’ between the six gears. Of course with all that performance there has to be a trade-off, and it comes in the form of steep running costs – the official average fuel return is an optimistic 24 miles per gallon. That said, the 350Z is still every bit as good as the new generation Audi TT 3.2 V6 Coupe – which costs over £3,000 more – has proved itself to be reliable and retains strong re-sale value.

    Fifth gear

Maybe old but I missed it, thanks
  8. Sorry about the delay, been on holiday for a week. Changed from a Civic Type-R
  9. Well Christmas came early. Got a call from the dealer yesterday and by 17:30 I was the very proud owner of a Z. Was up at 06:00 this morning to test it out. Fantastic morning and what a sound....what a sound . Just need to wait for everybody I know to wake up and I can go and show her off. Now an official member of 350z-uk.com
  10. Well it's a Nissan Select vehicle I'm buying and a week later the documentation still hasn't arrived at the dealers. Therefore, doesn't look very promising for tomorrow with taxing it etc. Will most probably have to wait until next weekend when I get back from holiday
  11. Chemsley wood or sheldon ? **** off Tee Hee I used to live in sheldon And I still do so watch it
  12. Ask me on Friday and I may be able to say YES!
  13. Cheers for the useful info. Went to look at my future purchase the weekend. Mentioned the BT adaptor to be told by the sales guy that they weren't standard . Anyway, filled with confidence from information from this forum, I proceeded to enlighten him.....no need in the end as the adapter was still in situ. The dealer has been instructed to make sure that it is still there when I finally pick up the car, on pain of death
  14. Hi and welcome from a fellow newbie. I know the feeling. Similar situation with a holiday looming at the end of this week and wondering if the car will be ready for collection before then . Hope we both have the same luck and get our new toys before the week is out.
  15. Think it currently has REO50As all round. Still can't find any details on the multipoint check
  16. That's another way to look at it I suppose
  17. Hi All, Does anyone know of the exact checks carried out when a dealer or Nissan carry out a multipoint check on their used cars? Can't find it anywhere on the Nissan site though a link would be great if anybody has one. Unfortunately I'm a bit of a pessimist. Currently waiting to pick up a Nissan Select 57 reg Z with 4.7k on the clock. As I've committed to buying I'm starting to mull things over during my painful week long wait. The car is in excellent nick, as would be expected from a 9 months old car. My only concern is that the tyres seem fairly low on tread. Not down to the first wear markers yet, but possibly only a few mm away. I know this is a sporty car and the previous 'Nissan Manager' owner may have enjoyed its performance, as hopefully shall I, but just seemed a bit excessive. Anyway, hoping the multipoint check will be thorough enough to alleviate some of my fears.
  18. Does anyone know if this applies to the latest models? Came across a 350Z 2006 owners manual in PDF. Clearly states that the unit plays MP3 and WMA files. This is an American version though http://www.courtesyparts.com/nissan-man ... n-350Z.pdf page 154, 164
  19. Hi All, In anticipation of my new car arriving by the end of this week I've downloaded a 2006 owners manual. Couldn't find a UK version. The manual mentions a tyre pressure indicator on the multi function display. Is this fitted to UK models? I like my gadgets so would be something else to play with
  20. Getting that little bit closer now. Have placed a deposit on a 9 month old Z . Feelings of excitement and worry at the moment as it’s quite a bit more than I'd normally spend on a car. The car is in excellent condition though it is showing quite a lot of stone chips on the front bumper. I’ve read about this on the forum so not too concerned. The dealer is getting the bumper repaired for me so should be as new on collection . Hopefully all mine by next Friday. Slightly bad timing as off on holiday on the Saturday. Anyway, I’ve lots of questions/advice to ask for so I’m off to trawl the appropriate sections. Looks like I’ll now be around here for a while
  21. Only around £10 difference but I will need to save at every opportunity to get the car I'm after
  22. Hi all, Trying to get some accurate quotes for my planned purchase but I'm unsure about the question that's asked 'Is an alarm or immobiliser fitted?' They give the option manufacturers fitted (which it is) and Thatcham cat 1 (which it is). Trouble is the quote is cheaper with the second entry . Came across this issue with my last car and the insurance help desk doesn't seem to know either. Last time I was told I would have to produce a certificate if the alarm was cat1.....well I didn't have one as its factory fitted! Has anybody found the answer to this or do I just put cat 1 and if it is ever queried show them the glossy brochure? One would think that with todays technology insurance companies would know if a manufacurers fitted device was cat 1
  23. Phase 1: Had my test drive last week in a 2005 Z and loved it more than I was expecting -check Phase 2: Put my old car up for sale at 17:00 on Thursday and sold by 20:00 on Friday -check Phase 3: to actually buy one will hopefully not be too far away as I don't think using public transport will prove very enjoyable - in progress Hopefully viewing this week so fingers crossed
  24. Hi, Not an owner yet but went to view a car last night. Was suprised to see the alloys had been balanced with the weights that clip onto the rim of the wheel. After many years of alloys that used the stick-on, internal type of weight I was wondering if this was the normal. On previous cars I've owned these clip on weights seemed to be a prime location for corrosion to start. When I eventually (hopefully) get my 350Z would you advise using the stick on weights, after fitting tyres, or does everyone use the standard clips ons?
  25. Was hoping to go for the first upgrade (was it to 297bhp?). Test drove the first iteration and that was still fun. Not sure how long the latest version has been available but think it would probably exceed my budget .
