  1. dont think NOS came from that movie....

    then again:

Nitrous is an often used as an abbreviation for the nitrous oxide, also referred to as NOS. The term NOS is derived from the initials of the company name Nitrous Oxide Systems, one of the pioneering companies in the development of nitrous oxide injection systems for automotive performance use. The term was used prominently in the film The Fast and the Furious, and not surprisingly, shortly after the film's release, various automotive newsgroups and forums featured unprecedented numbers of inquiries about "NOS" and how to install and use it. To a biochemist, however, NOS refers to nitric oxide synthase.

  2. I know they are a little on the chav side. Although what other options are there? Name me a great car, with comfort, i.e. Leather, SatNav, cruise etc, that has a turbo and can be reasonably priced? I can't think of anything?

The Zed gives me all the above, although no turbo without shelling out fortunes. Maybe I am just greedy and that 297bhp should be enough, and it's not enough! Although a lot of the power is lost due to the weight of the car. A friend of mine is currently dirving a Civic Type R on a 02 plate. His car is 50 stone lighter than mine, and he's keeping up with me! I need to shake him off good and proper!

turbo the yoke mate and you wont need to get another car EVER... 20k and you're set

Regarding comfort etc... two of those aren't needed: satnav and cruise :teeth: There's plenty of other beasts around without going down scooby route... (sub)

  3. Hmmm looks like engine modifications/strengthening are also going to be expensive. I think I am going to go for the 75-100hp increase from the Nitrous (with the progressive controller etc) and hope that nothing goes bang from my very heavy right foot. I can't justify spending £10k on the car, I think next time upon purchasing a car I'll get one with a turbo already installed, i.e. Mits or Scooby? :bang: Not that the looks are anywhere near a good as the Nissan, neither is the comfort anything to write home about. I guess if I want a reasonably easy upgrade of an engine to source a car already turbo'd.

A great shame, although if I ever windfall any large cash amounts in the next 3 years then I'll definetly go for the full modifications.

Thanks all for your comments.

    Mits or Scooby? :bang:

  5. Zed'ers, thanks, great information, especially the informative threads posted by Zedrush. I believe that I will go ahead with the modifications, although will now seriously consider increasing the budget to accomodate strengthening the internals. Has anyone on this forum gone through the internal modification route? What sort of costs are involved? I had a quick browse and found some forged pistons at £799, what further modifications are required on top of this to assist with power over 400bhp?

I must admit, I will without a shadow of doubt go for the progressive controller and window switch, I really don't want to suffer any engine issues.

Has anyone any further comments de-cating the exhaust, as mentioned, I was advised to have a "hand built" solution which would benefit over any aftermarket product?

Again thanks for all your comments, very helpful.

    Cheers

got a quote on between 8k-10k € for that work on mine :byebye:

That was all the labor and parts. From 3.5 to 4.2 and re-tune.

parts will land you around: 5200€ delivered to your door. Then xxxxx amount for the work, that depends if you do most yourself or if you know somebody that will fit it for less then 4k? let me know what you decide to do, is your wallet an empty black hole like mine??? :drive1

  6. Certainly won't be the first on here.

P15UL T and Zedrush both did Nitrous. Zedrush got (and posted) some good stuff on nitrous on here.

450 on standard internals is a quick way to go bang! Not sure what of 'shot' the standard internals will take although the budget is probably plenty healthy!

:band: thanks for the thread link, tried searching for zedrush as member and within that using nos or nitrious but came back with nill... :bounce: Good read on that thread.

  7. As I'm a bit of a HP junky and like to be kicked back into my seat I had a quick google and found this article:

    http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/0409t ... index.html

Kinda explains it pretty well I think. Not sure about it though, read here from website selling the stuff:

    http://www.edelbrock.com/sportcompact_n ... _dry.shtml

Can't see that there are any engine managment system included and would think that you would want to have one (to get that perfect tune) Would be cool to have one though! You going to be the 1st on here? :teeth: (stand corrected; 3rd)

450bhp = not sure the internals will like that on the Z

Mine started at 265 (fly) and now has 318 (fly) only thing left for me to do to gain more power would be FI & or upgrade the internals. Then again the latest dyno was done on the wheel (Where it acutally counts) so maybe I could change something alon the power train to not loose so many ponies on the way to the rear. As for 3k... I've used up a bit more then that I think with all the tunes and the engine management system. (did most of the installs myself to save some dosh)

Best of luck and if you go down the nitro route let me know how you get on!

  8. hmmm so no hints on involving any real authorities on this one? Is there not a 'hotline for scams' in the EU/UK/EIRE etc???

above is all the info bar the pictures. I think I might just look into this a bit deeper :drive1

  9. My 1st mail to the add:

Hi is this car still available? Is it really 3.5k?

    Then Yer woman's answer:

    Hi there,

The car is still available for the price of 3500 euro.

The car is in excellent overall condition, never involved in an accident. The car is still Irish registered, no finance owing, no scratches, no water damage, always garaged and serviced. Full service history available.

I worked in Ireland for 2 years and the company I worked for was dissolved and I had to move back to UK.

Get back to me if you need more info on the vehicle.

What is the reg nr for the car? Where can I have a look at the car?

    Hello,

Since I have a written contract with eBay they will handle this sale for me and they will act as a third party between us.

I can give you more details to proceed with this deal as I'm looking for a fast sale.

If you are a serious buyer I will explain the entire procedure regarding payment and shipping. I also hope that the car being in UK is not a major inconvenience for you. I know that at this price I will find a buyer in no time, so this isn't a major inconvenience for me.

    Regards,

    Hello,

why are we talking about Ebay? is the car advertised on ebay too? I was looking at this car on carzone, it's no longer there? (why is that?) I never understood the car is in the UK. Please explain the process and we can take it from there. Can I also have the history of the car and some more photos would be good. Can you manage to give me the reg number and chassi number please?

    cheers

    Hi ,

The car was listed on carzone, because I am in UK I'm using eBay safe trade procedure for this transaction. I attached some pics with the car in this email. The car is no longer listed because I have posted my add on carzone from UK and they don't accept that kind of posting.

As previously stated, I suggest using the security provided by eBay. I will cover the escrow fees. Since I presume you are not familiar with the escrow procedure, I have briefly described the transaction steps below:

    1. Buyer, seller reach an agreement (price and delivery conditions).

    2. Buyer sends money to eBay.

    3. eBay confirms to seller that the amount has been received.

    4. Seller performs the required services (shipping, insurance) via escrow.

    5. Buyer receives the goods.

    6. If the goods comply with buyer's conditions, eBay releases the money to seller.

As you can see, you will receive the car BEFORE any money is released to me. You will get the chance to inspect it, test drive it and everything you like while your money is still safely held in eBay account. ONLY after you confirm to eBay that you agree with the vehicle, they will release the money to me.

If, for some reason, you disagree with the car (I assure you that is NOT going to happen since my car is in IMMACULATE condition inside and out) it will be shipped back to me on MY EXPENSE and eBay will send you your money back.

If you wish to proceed further, I will need your complete name and address and also a phone number so I can set up the transaction.

Let me know if we can get things moving.

NOTE: got photos of the car (nice looking) and then also reg nr. I can see from the reg plate it's

    a JDM import...

Current standing: I'm not sure what to do...

willing to part with 3.5k without getting anything is = 0

    :snack:

  10. WeWell

are you looking at buying it?

Well if its to good to be true it normally is?

Wouldn't mind getting it and give away my altezza and use it as a tracktool or something, have a feeling there is no car there though...
